The way I understood it was that since Saeko was initially 'turned on' to violence by being sexually assaulted in the past, Takashi was reminding her of that when she was wussing out. He was telling her it's okay for her to be a violent psychopath.

She needed to be for them to survive, anyway.

Also, fanservice. Duh.
Umm.

Well clarified I suppose.

Sounds like an anime plot if I ever heard one.

After a few in here brought it up, finally decided to watch Crest of the Stars, Banner...and all that jazz. Haven't watched anything since about 3-4 weeks ago when I finished up LOGH.

I went and grabbed some Berserk manga this morning.

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is exactly what its title advertises, a savage, gruesome, and often darkly funny roller-coaster ride, inspiring the internationally popular anime series. If you're looking for graphic fiction to take home to Grandma, this ain't it - unless Granny smokes cigars and rides a Harley!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is meat-grinder manga at its most extreme - gruesome, violent, and darkly funny - and the inspiration for the wildly popular anime series. Look elsewhere if you're craving sweetness, subtlety, and good manners. Berserk is the bull in the graphic novel china shop - and who wouldn't watch a bull getting medieval on the dishes!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is maniacal manga to the max - relentless, harrowing, and gruesomely funny - and the inspiration for the popular anime series. If you're looking for graphic fiction tied up with a pretty pink bow, you'd better run for the hills - because Berserk will show you what you can do with that bow!

Manga blurbs are clearly an art form.

There's a different blurb for every volume. I plan to grab some more tomorrow. I am interested to see how far this blurb-writer can extend his or her repertoire of badass imagery.

How do I get a pair shipping to my house by a Zeon solider?

The Zeon soldiers are a bit busy at the moment, what with a war going on and all. Just be reassured that 100% of your purchase goes to support the Space Nazis!

I really should watch the original Mobile Suit Gundam and the other U.C. material at some point so I can have a meaningful conversion about giant robots with you guys. :lol

edit: So there's a version of sakura without the 'Amazing Grace' inserted in between stanzas. I really like listening to that version, and Taiyou no Mannaka he. The music video of Taiyou no Mannaka he is really awesome too since you can see Bivatchee's guitarist playing Gitaa! Yui must be very jealous! Their bassist plays a Fender Jazz Bass too, though it's a standard right-handed version. Mio's bass is a left-handed Jazz Bass.

I'm sold on this blurb writer, if not on the works themselves.

*pulls out his one and only volume of Berserk*

Created by Kenatro Miura, Berserk is a pounding manga sledgehammer, a captivating combination of blistering action, brazen horror and bug-house humour that proves beyond doubt that whom the gods would destroy, they first make Berserk!

So is there any anime out this summer that is directed towards males with a sci-fi or mecha bent?
Short answer : no.

Long answer : come back next season when we will have mecha.

This guy mumbles 'action, horror, humor' in his sleep - if he sleeps at all :lol

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a hurtling manga avalanche, a pit-dark epic of relentless action, repellent horror, and remorseless humor that has hordes of initiates sharpening their blades while sending the timid into full retreat. The bell tolls for thee, wimp!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a streaking manga fireball, an epic riot of galvanic action, grotesque horror, and grim humor with an army of fanatic loyalists ready to convert unbelievers or drive them screaming into the wilderness. Speak, hands, for me!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a howling manga hurricane, an epic blast of unrelenting action, unsettling horror, and unhinged humor that has turned formerly productive citizens into malign servants of darkness! Hell hath no fury like Berserk!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a smoking manga chainsaw, a sweeping epic of gripping action, ghastly horror, and graveyard humor that has produced an army of fanatical readers and countless shellshocked civilians. Duck and cover!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a bare-knuckled manga brawl, an anything-goes cage fight of action, horror, and humor that breaks no rules - because there aren't any! Morituri te salutant!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a fiery manga apocalypse, an ominous omnibus of furious action, fearsome horror, and funereal humor that strikes a power chord in the hearts of its devoted followers and strikes down the rest like a scythe through wheat. Bring in the sheaves!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a runaway manga locomotive, a crashing colossus of teeth-rattling action, spine-chilling horror, and taboo-breaking humor that fires the boilers of its devoted devotees and just fires the rest. Ashes to ashes!

I am a convert.

In future, episodes of K-ON will be described as out-of-control powertools and the like.

Season 3 Ep 1 was an anime vegetable juicer. Back the fuck up if you don't want your banana shredded, wimp.

Asobi Ni Iku Yo- I'm liking it. It may be the most blatant fanservicey show in ages, but it's actually fun and the characters are all likable.

They're pretty good, I just Finished the "Passage of the Stars" one shot from season 2 and season 3, so I guess I'm done with that now. Nothing left.

So I guess I'll finish my Vampire Princess Miyu ova's since I still have the second disc to go, and from there, yikes, maybe the Dagger of Kamui, Hakkenden: The Legend of the Dog Warriers or Boogiepop Phantom.

I don't know if Dagger of Kamui or Hakkenden: The Legend of the Dog Warriers are any good yet, but if anyone's interested, the prices are real good if you live in the States, Dagger of Kamui is 9 dollars and Hakkenden is 14 bucks from Righstuf, heck, the two Vampire Princess Miyu's were 7 bucks apiece. Some decent deals for older shows. Nadia's really tempting me at 15 bucks a volume, of which there are only two, so the whole thing's for 30 dollars and it's generally well regarded.

I think I can most definitely say that the Kon Tribute thread is totally dead. From now on I'll just post the rest of my impressions in the active anime thread at the time. :lol

As a personal rule of thumb I tend to posts my threads at about 1:00 AM GMT because anything anime related that isn't

: Complaining about Moe
: Complaining about Eva
: Recommendations
: Miyzaki
: Shounen Fighting Show

will just die a death at other hours, even if there are a (small) selection of people who would have otherwise posted in it.

Or I've just been very unlucky at other hours.

From an anime snob point of view, probably Shiki (wacky character designs disguise interesting plot). Otherwise there's not much going on out there - it's the summer, after all.
