I think it's kinda due to the generic "anime fighter rock track due to being too cheap to license the song" song. It definitely seems more shounen than it probably is.

To be more precise, the first season of TLR isn't that good, it constantly wanders away from the manga with anime-only filler. The second season takes a different form, generally adapting 2 or 3 chapters of the manga per episode, and is significantly better than the first.

Looks fine for the most part except for that shot. I like the shot with Gil and the other shot of Archer. Shirou looks fine, although I wish they could modify his design a bit to have slightly longer hair.
Looks really good despite the bad music.
Also Haruhi as well. While the action won't be real, it does seem that it will be a focus due to her delusions. I'm expecting something Haruhi-like, in that there's a balance between the two.
Looks kinda boring to be honest. Nothing is striking me in any way. This really looks like it's going to be overshadowed this fall.

Unzen has been beat. Class 13 is the next villain group, and they are fuckawesome (though not as much as the villain after that, but we're not getting to him
)I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. Virtually any vague or simplistic premise can be elevated by good animation and direction to some extent, but I don't think that it's unreasonable to doubt the ability of even very talented studios to successfully adapt something if there are enough inherent problems in the source material. Still, I'm certainly not going to actually hold myself to any snap judgments I make from Comiket trailers.
Wow so they really managed to squeeze three seasons out of the premise of "an attractive female actually likes anime?" I'm sure that it's evolved beyond that by now, but this is something that I didn't realize that there was any more pent-up demand for among otaku.
