Man i have to delete half a post to be able to quote anything on neogaf mobile. Its awful.

Anyway I really think the only thing Precure Smile really has going for it is that it has a REALLY cute art style.
The transformations pale from previos ones, the monsters suck and the whole show is just not as much fun as I hoped.
Yayoi is really the only reason I watch any of it (maybe Cure March too).

Again i agree on that (100%)

yayoi is really the thing that make me go on.

I can't help but to compare beauty to aqua and aqua is unfortunatly supérior

For me personally, the actual content of the fights isn't a big deal. I mostly care about the quality of character interaction and how well the series' overarching themes are incorporated into the show each week, and if I get thrown the occasional sakuga bone in a fight, all the better, but the quality of the fights are generally never going to be as good as they theoretically could be because it's the designated time for showcasing the plastic shit each episode and so I imagine that the writers/animators/etc. are hamstrung to some degree by the marketing department. Using powerup forms/attacks outside of stock footage would enhance fights in some respect, but it doesn't weigh heavily in my evaluation of overall series quality.

i agree too ...that's why even the weakest moment of Yes precure had some interest ( gogo did this better )..but there is a time when it's totally obvious ..
All i'm asking , even with stock footage or something is for the character to act as they should ...

The problem is that the marketed plastic isn't that great either.
Not that its easy to capture Yayoi's cuteness with a figurine but Precure figure quality seems lacking in general.
Unless there is some GSC or Alter level figures of Precures and i just missed them, in which case please feel free to point me to some examples because I would actually like some Precure figures.

Girls Bravo 13

First rule of Girls Fight, you don't talk about girls fight.
Just as awesome as I thought it would be. Kirie focus episodes are the best, but that's only natural, since she is the best girl.

You're so damn boss Seras.

Explosions. Explosions everywhere.

Glad to see more of Heinkel and Yumiko, even if only it was for a few minutes.

Looks like next episode I'll be revisiting the fight
between Seras and Zorin.

Speaking of English, I loved hearing the girls speak a little bit more again. :)
I also noticed the film showing how short the girls were in comparison to those from London. Even Mio, whose the tallest, seemed small at times.

Mio is only 5'4", they're all really short.
No boob rubbing gif? Or was that some other eps...

That's like every episode.
Chet have you seen Divergence Eve?
Or better yet watch Burn Up W
Both are very :chet
I haven't heard of the first one, but I am familiar with the second, though I don't think I ever actually watched all of it.

I think you got those mixed up.
Anorexia is when you just don't eat. Bulimia is when you gorge yourself on food and then regurgitate it right afterwards.
That's what she's doing. She's not eating, but I assume when she's forced to eat due to social circumstances, she purged.

Im not posting pics of Divergence Eve here because its probably on a site with nsfw content.
You might be interested in it though.

Srs bsns. I genuinely hope that's what they were going for, because most anime refuse to treat teens as human beings (for obvious reasons).

Lastly the ending itself contains some references to other bands such as the "Helter Skelter" ride being another reference to The Beatles. The song "Singing!" I think is a great song and have always loved Youko Hikasa's voice. firehawk also already mentioned it but just before the ending where
the camera was focused on the girls feet and paint from the crosswalk most likely being an Abbey Road reference was neat, even though they quickly show it earlier during the montage scene around London.

In the end I loved the series and the movie and would like to give it all a re-watch soon.

Again to those that read all of this, thank you for your time.

Yeah, the actual reference to
Abbey Road was kind of not needed
. But if you're going to do London porn, I guess you have to have it.

Divergence Eve has quite possibly some of the absolute worst character designs I have ever seen. That shit is nigh indefensible.

Also Misaki from Divergence is really cute.
I dont think she's a particularly bad design.
The show does have very garish color palettes though. All the 90's era neon colored rainbow hair.

Truth ...

I recommend it specifically to chet.
He will certainly appreciate what it has to offer.

you don't recommand divergence eve ..

You give death to your ennemies

DE is an error in our history ..this thing shouldn't have existed

Yes i hate this anime

=(, so it's 40+ episodes of crap? Though it was good stuff.

I've heard it's hit or miss. The movies trimmed it down to something great though. I'll sit down and watch it myself sometime as I want to see the differences and revisit Doan's Island but I think it's one of those universal truths that you watch the movies rather than the tv series if you're interested in it. I don't think I've ever seen anyone recommend otherwise.

Honestly I dont like it either because of the character designs but it has a bit of the "burn Up" feel to it.
Not enough that I enjoyed it though.

What even? lol.
Pretty hilarious if that had happened like that in episode
. Shiryu was actually good but I wish they gave more explanation for how he lost his sense or how all the other old saints weve seen these past 19 episods experienced these fates.
Sure this baddie said how he lost his eyes, but what about the other four senses?
. I liked that Ryuho got a chance to shine too. Solid episode.

One thing
Genbu seems like some relative of Souma or at least kind of looked like him of sorts, related? And this anime crew stays together for beans, always leaving

That's obviously what's going on; combined with all the other evidence in the episode it literally can't be anything else.
At any rate, I'm also interested in them using it as a plot point, no matter how temporarily. It's just "edgy" enough to be different without seeming too extreme.

Also I guess we have another show that
has the "cheerful ending after dramatic episode cliffhanger" syndrome
.

Yeah, I guess I meant more how a great job KyoAni does in really portraying that fact. I believe, on average, girls are usually shorter and when most of the time your only frame of reference is an all girls school and then the girls suddenly go to a foreign country it really becomes obvious.

It's true the girls aren't always in the school and go other places but at the same time it's also more of the fact that, again on average I believe, Japanese are also a bit shorter in stature than westerners. Just a combination of the two in contrast to their location really makes it an obvious visual cue in the movie.

Yeah, in the end I didn't really mind. There were probably still a bunch of band references I didn't get.

Actually, speaking of that, I have a question for you. In your own review of the movie you said this:
...and there is a remix of a music cue that they use which is FUCKING AMAZING...
. I was wondering what you're referring to?

Get your butt on K-ON thread. But yeah glad you enjoyed the movie. I have only just finished the series and watched the movie myself and really enjoyed it too.

Yeah, I was actually thinking of doing that. I looked at it when it first went up but then forgot about it for a bit. The movie then came out and I was avoiding it due to possible spoilers. I'll maybe have to drop in more often.

It's less than you deserve:
come on, that thing is awful. were they even trying. GANDAMUHH

I tried to marathon Gundam once, fell asleep around the first hour or so of the first movie.

ok, fine. I will probably watch the tv series too anyway but I'll try to do the same with the movies.

I think he's talking about the song that plays when they first land in England. Though I don't know what that quote is talking about in context.

Okay, I'm not sure how to link exactly to the direct post so I'll give you the page and tell you it's post #4372 here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=469952&page=88

EDIT: Ah, thanks Narag :)
I didn't know you could click on those. Okay, here you go Chet...firehawk's review

post if you haven't dropped it by episode 2 [good luck]

Yeah, I think what I said is what he was referring to. It's the only background song that I can remember in the movie that was a remix from the series.

It's track 18 on the OST. "Traditional tea". Basically, when they first
land in London, you get a remix of one of the K-On themes with bagpipes.
lol

Honestly, it's anime, so I'm afraid to give it any credit. Because, well, anime never aspires to be anything more than content porn for BD sales. :p

The Light of El Cantare
As an italian, this post looks like it came straight out from bizzaroland.
I mean, Lasagna? Really?

You should watch some Arcana Famiglia. Their image of "Italy" is amusingly simplistic. Hell, the main characters are basically mafioso minus the organized crime element!

i agree too ...that's why even the weakest moment of Yes precure had some interest ( gogo did this better )..but there is a time when it's totally obvious ..

I definitely agree that power-ups could be handled better. I'm not a fan of the way that the Princess Forms look in Smile, but just on principle the characters shouldn't receive entirely new designs only for them to essentially be animated once and then never again. I'm not arguing that stock footage should be abolished, but rather that powerup forms shouldn't be confined exclusively to stock footage.

I mean, from a marketing standpoint, wouldn't they want to maximize the amount of screen time that new costumes receive anyway? I suppose that their logic is that restricting their appearance to the stock "glamour shots" makes them more marketable.

Cyborg 009 - Monster War

1967 followup to the first movie. Dr. Gilmore decides it's time to get the band back together as Black Ghost rears its ugly head again with giant robot dinosaurs among other things swimming around that blow shit up. It's much more straightforward as an ensemble action piece but I didn't find it nearly as engaging the first. There were some nice bits, 009 calling out a spy in particular, but it felt much more like a product of its time than the first.

Sword Art Online 6
idgaf, this show is awesome. I like how it addressed my question from the last episode about the characters feeling pain, as well as many people's comments on the over-the-top absurdity of Yoruko's freak out:
it was all an act.

That said, the very end of the episode where
Grimrock instantly folds under Kirito's limp-dicked condemnation
and
Griselda's ghost appears without any kind of explanation or significance
sucked pretty hard and put a damper on an otherwise excellent episode. Of course, these complaints may end up being just as unfounded as my complaints about the previous episode.

The budding romance between Kirito and Asuna was laid on too thick in the dining scene, but overall I enjoy the chemistry between them.

Ah Okay, yeah, I definitely noticed that part then. Agreed that that was pretty great. :)

I seriously kind of want to watch the K-On! movie again right now. I still haven't seen this weeks episode of Hyouka yet though and apparently the Empress Irisu makes an appearance!

Haha, maybe for other shows I'd give that a try but with such visual splendor in both of these KyoAni shows, I want to try and take it all in.

I have to give Irisu my full undivided attention. Something I just recalled recently too was that her seiyuu also voices C.C. from Code Geass.
