Have people that shit on Gundam AGE actually seen the show past the initial few episodes?
Because it really isn't that bad, it beats a lot of currently airing crap that gets above average impressions here.
Plus, some of the episodes have really excellent visuals.

I've watched up to ep 42. Grodek/Woolf were the high points, and that was some time ago.

Watched the first arc, I don't have enough time to keep up with shows I actually like so I'm not going to spend another 30 odd episodes on crap that is mediocre at best. Fuck ignoring shows I'm behind on or that I haven't even started this season (only watched 3 episodes of Nobuna out of everything from this season), I'll rather rewatch good shit like Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z Hen than continue Age. Baron Ashura > that crap..

Just as I was starting to get tired of these slower intro episodes that focused on the lives of incredibly dependent little girls to an almost uncomfortable extent, we get an episode focused on people with guns doing work. Well, it's about time.

The opening sequences was well done. The way it was edited kept me on my toes. It had a good sense of uncertainty about it.

While the show has yet to go deep into the issues, this episode covers some more about the political environment of the show, which seems incredibly charged. People all over the political spectrum seem to take violent issue with the status quo. I don't think it's too important to understand why, and I don't think the show does either. The focus is more on the characters than the issues.

The editing in the assault was really good. I'm always a fan of the action sequences in this show. They're not sakuga-heavy, but they're active and always easy to understand within the context of the larger mission.

Sunglasses are the perfect disguise.

There are hints of a larger plot in this episode. I'm curious how they're developed.

Off the top of my head: Campione, Estetica, Muv-Luv, Saint Seiya Omega, Sengoku Collection, Oda Nobuna, Accel World and a bunch of other stuff regularly get positive impressions, or at least impressions and I'd say Gundam AGE is a better (or more fun) show than all of them, but people tend to avoid it because of the bad rep it got at the beginning, when people were destroying it with negative comments.

Just avoid season 2.

Yeah I know lol, even though Kira became Jesus in Destiny he was still much better than Shinn Asuka. It's just funny how the constant trolling back than of
Kira will became the main character
actually ended up being true in the end lol.

Though as much as I hate Shinn, the Impulse Vs Freedom fight was sick and his bgm for Destiny was awesome.

Destiny also had one of the best ''wtf is happening'' scenes ever for me.
Kira and Athrun argue on the sky in their mechs while ORB and ZAFT fight and the best argument Kira can come up with is that ''but cagalli is crying'' and the then Athrun is shocked and loses the fight lol.

Oh, I'm not talking about people that don't have time to follow a lot of shows, but this thread is filled with people following a bunch of shows, so it just felt unfair that one show got skipped by most when it didn't even deserve it.

Shinn is truly the worst Gundam protagonist I've ever seen. He made me really appreciate Kira lol

Outside of the first handful of episodes I never even considered Shinn to be the protagonist. It seemed like Fukuda/Morosawa could never figure out who the protagonist should be until just going back to Kira.

Thanks for the elaboration. I've got to say I haven't really seen many positive impressions for the shows you list aside from the sakuga episodes of Omega and Accel World and the Kaneko episodes of Sengoku Collection, but then I don't follow this thread as closely as I used to.

Of course, even if Gundam Age didn't have the stigma of Hino/Level-5 and its reputation for being mediocre, it would have to really capture people's attention for a lot of people to still be following it at the 40+ episode mark.

that fardain (ep 4-7 or something)arc is the shittiest thing came out from mecha anime, at least the rest of it is fun.

I can watch mediocre anime with good mecha porn.

I don't think robots eat anything tbh. :)

nuclear energy ?

Oh yeah i've seen the first 2 arc ( and the startt of the third arc ) i THINK i gave enough of my time to this show ...
The characters are awefull , the direction of the story is a mess ..and the less horrible character of the cast is dead
White wolf

The story moves without any regards to the viewers and there is no real sense of tension

Not even a fan of Seric Abis and the Clanche Custom, a better and superior take on Woolf? (well G-exes in his gen was good).

We get a close up on more adult figures than usual this time around. This included with many camera close-ups of shoes walking...okay. Contextually, this episode in wrapped inside political strains, but ultimately focuses on new characters (friends and foes) while giving minimal insight with Henrietta (
her seeing the couple on the motorcycle probably tapped on her desire to be romantically involved with Giuse).

eAlBv.png

A moment of family bonding warms the heart.

In the final stretch, something is presented that has not been in previous episodes. We get a team operation as well as the one and only
"I'm a little girl, please don't hurt me! :( "
trick. I honestly thought this show would never attempt that one, but here we are!

Alright, now the show is dipping in an overarching plot. I await additional insight to characters within Social Welfareand a display of additional hurdles with Giuse and Social Welfare. I might be overshooting the issue, but it's something I think could be pulled off well here. Whatever the general plot might be, I'm looking forward to its growth.

I also have an itch that the
Republican Factionists
will show up again.

(Possibly NSFW due to language) Another Infinite Stratos Dub

Still reading through older pages and got through the Infinite Stratos and list wars discussion. Coincidentally I just came across this IS dub video on YouTube. It's actually the third video I guess but it was the first I've come across and seen so far. Some like firehawk might get a kick out of it. Here is a quick sampling...

Teacher: Today class I'd like to introduce a new student
Charles: Hi, I'm Charles from France but it's not like I'm happy to see you guys or anything
Student: Is that a gu--
Ichika: BS! That's a girl!
Teacher: Um, are you sure about that Ichika?
Ichika: Sexy teacher, I think I'm capable of telling the difference between a girl and a boy
Class: Uhhh...
Ichika: Oh F you guys

That sounds like a poor excuse to me because it's not like those two works are intrinsically linked or anything. You have the power to start watching Fantastic Children at any time.

They're linked by an internet post, and everyone knows you're not allowed to ever contradict what you say on the internet.

I just realized that the number of stations Jojo is running on pretty much prevents it from being a long running series. That kinda implies a 1-cour or 2-cour series at best. At least for now...

Need some GAF recommendations.

We've just watched Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood for the second time and we're still blown away by how well animated, funny, scripted, epic, and all-round awesome this series really is. Are there any recent shows that match (or at least get close) to FMA:B's level of awesomeness that you folks would recommend? It's really hard sorting the crap from the jewels when it comes to anime. I'm told that the Gurren Lagan series is the bees knees so I guess I'll watching that show next.

Just to give you guys/girls an idea of the type of shows that rocks our socks:

Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
Trigun
Kenshin + OAVs (the show does drag though)
Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit
Planetes
Evangelion
Raxephon

I tried Code Geass but it wasn't really my thing. Didn't like the characters, the art design or the copious amounts of fanservice.

Thanks in advance!

The problem with Gurren Lagann is any anime you watch after it won't be as good.

Anyway, check out Soul Eater too.

I actually thought that moment was her recalling a faint echo of her dead parents who she has no memory of, but your interpretation probably makes more sense.

Works for me. Hopefully they can pull it off.

I see you really liked a great shounen like FMA:B enough to watch it twice, the logical choice would be to watch an even better shounens.

Hajime no ippo- boxing anime might not sound interesting but that's what everyone says at first before they get hooked hard on it. Tense exciting boxing matches to be found, likeable fun cast and If you thought fma was funny this will kill you.

-great animation with a nice gritty art style just check out those sweet speed lines
-spectacular fights that really draw you in, that your going to want to watch each fight at least 3 times over.
-great cast of characters

oh yeah you don't need to know anything about boxing or even like boxing to enjoy.

One piece- more grand, more epic by like 50 folds then fma:b, it feels more like hanging around a bunch of fun wacky characters on a boat as they travel the seas exploring mysterious and bizarre Islands then watching something, that's just how likable the cast is and how it draws you in.
Start off light hearted but as the world opens up so do the stakes rise as it get more serious and epic.

-nice animation and great soundtrack
-funny to The point your physically going to laugh at some point.
-Great cast of very likeable characters
-Manly tears all up in this

Hunter x Hunter(1999)- a tense dark clever thriller shounen anime, that starts off as a story about a boy named gon who goes on a journey to become a Hunter(something like professional bountie hunter) to find his father but turns into something dark as nothing is what it seems in the dark sinister world of hxh.

great animation has some comedy thrown in there from time to time but not that much, it's mostly tense story driven action scenes.

- fights are tactical mind games with added creative rock paper scissors type power system but a lot more complex
-good cast of characters
-great sound track

it was hard typing that on my phone so you better go and watch it *shakes fist*

The problem with Gurren Lagann is any anime you watch after it won't be as good.

That's cause the dog shit writing has given you a brain tumor the size of a golf ball by The time it's over, you will be brain dead.
