Amusing -- it seems that, starting Oct. 10, Tokyo MX will be airing reruns of Black Lagoon immediately following Jormungand: Perfect Order.

Crikin needs more screentime, hopefully season 2...
Has the author even shat out enough volumes for a second season yet?

It's like they're sending a message to watch Black Lagoon instead as it's the better show.

Penguindrum 14

By far the least enjoyable episode, all that yuri
litrally with, of all characters, Ringo, seriously, I never desired to see that much of them in that way and all especially the hot bath then yuri wanted to do bad things to her clothless and the sounds, the bonus image end episode did not help, too much, did not want

Oh well Kanba had a good part so that was pleasing and Sanetoshi in the scarves was cool.

JINRUI - 07 & 08
For a ep that reused So many times the very same scenes , it was kinda enjoyable but not as fun as i would have liked ( and i love time travel stories )..the fairies are broken ..i mean a
banana that make you travel in time
??Who the hell smoke too much weed ?

I've come to appreciate the little side show with Thumbelina more now that they seemed to have fulfilled their purpose. It's not like these people are difficult characters to comprehend, but such visual imagery is always appreciated. On the other hand, I wish they didn't have the dialogue drag it out by speaking out their symbolism instead of just letting the viewers figure it out themselves.

The slow pace of the show also make it difficult to marathon. A lot happened in here but it still felt like it was retreading on some of the old material for the sake of characterisation, particularly Shimao's flashbacks about his last days. Or maybe I've just come to hate the arse so much I just can't stand him anymore.

I'll write out more thoughts later, it's too late right now. :(

I must confess that I actually liked the CG, it worked well and you really couldn't have done it with hand drawn art.

Grandma dying was sad. :(

I think it could have benefited from showing a bit of Kenji's life before he went to Natsuki's house, for a more clear contrast of how he grew over the course of the movie.

The scene at the end
when everyone starts giving natsuki their accounts
was so cheesy, but it worked.

There was definitely room for improvement, but it was a good movie overall, and I liked it enough that I would recommend it to others.

Even 3 years ago, signs of the oncoming Hosadapocalypse were present, all those animal ears and noses on the avatars.

That was a pretty good way to end the show; I said back around ep7 that I was ready for it to be over, and while it turned out that I was in for quite a bit more, I'm satisfied with how things turned out, if not with the way things went. The episode did feel a bit too long, with too much said out loud that perhaps needed to remain unsaid.

I still don't hate Shimao like a lot of the people here. The frustration associated with him hijacking Hazuki's body--and in turn the show--when, after a good deal of development between Hazuki and Rokka had occurred and we were just waiting for the consummation of that relationship, is understandable, but I still empathize with his character and don't find his actions hateful.

It's hard letting go, as difficult as it may have been to watch this protracted struggle to simply deal with the situation. It was detrimental for the show to shift focus like that, from Hazuki to Shimao, when the latter's situation still remained sympathetic as something on the periphery, a side-show lingering near the main focus of the former's romance with the widow.

But I enjoyed most of it; the highs were high, and in the end, it was a good show.

Nisemonogatari 3 - 4

Episode 4 was so awesome that I was left not even remembering what the plot was. Can Araragi and the whole rest of the anime just take place in that extremely lavish and spacious bathroom, I could just watch him talk there for many hours and not grow bored. Anyway, I loved it alot, hes a cool and amazing character, and the whole discussion, in review, was at times interesting, when I focused on it briefly before taking in the main attraction. Oshino is a good talking partner, Kaiki is interesting (wonder scene when he was standing with the red and black stuff in the background in ep 3).

Clearly means that s3 is coming!

I don't even remember where Hiroe left off in the manga. Now all he draws is femdom porn.

As far as I remember there wasn't really a ton of material left so they went with those OVA's, rather than a series.

Hakuouki Reimeiroku 11

Cant believe were down to the final episode. I liked how things progressed here
Fury plot being concluded of sorts was good and the Serizawa back story was touching. I wonder how the others will put into place the national leaders motive of getting them to lead the Shinsengumi and not Serizawa?

Action scenes look and sound so good in these, I liked how they were done overall. I really want to rewatch this again though not weekly to better take in the plot as it was rather interesting and makes me wanna check out all the other Hakuouki, as soon as their durbbed.

Also picked up more anime and manga today (yosuke on a disc art is good), probably start Fafner in today

I watched it. Didnt understand a word of it. Didnt matter <3<3<3
Ah, I missed it... wonzo posted pretty pictures. :p

Wait Haruhi S2 has a defect??

Kind of weird how I had to buy 4 blurays to get K-On S1 and only 2 for all of S2.
Weird choice.
The original Haruhi S2 set had a mono JP track. Unlike NISA though, they only did a half-assed recall or something. It's why I didn't buy it anyway, since at the time there was no way to tell which version you got without buying it and opening it.

And I would imagine Sentai was able to negotiate a more favourable deal for S2. Probably the poor sales of S1 helped convince the stakeholders that it wasn't going to be huuuuuge seller.

That Persona box looks so cheap.

Best show or BEST show?!
The Tenzo/Mary part was great, especially the test to pick a bride :lol, though the Excalibur bit was nice too.
The rest was all action and that was good too.
I'm not sure if I understood it right, but did the English merchant dude give Musashi
stones instead of money
?!
Oh, the closing scene was GREAT!

So I thought about doing a writeup but I realized how much I hate this fucking show. This boring, trite, tensionless, and anti-climatic show. Not to mention the fact that they introduce a much larger concept in the last five episodes and don't do jack with it, something that might have been interesting 13 episodes ago. This show isn't worth wasting anymore time.

I was all onboard before the show aired (miniskirts! pirates! hanazawa! moe!) but the first episode was ugly and apparently they don't even do pirate shit. Glad I dropped it right there.

They finally do something in the last arc that might be considered something close to actual piracy, in that there are real stakes involved, but that's like 22 episodes in. 22 episodes. They then state that there might be a larger(and more serious) component to the space piracy coming up but nothing happens. Fuck them.

I find it weird that as much as I hated the opening episodes, somehow I ended up enjoying the show despite itself. I must really be starved for space-based science fiction.

I'm still having withdrawal pains waiting for the next Yamato. I'm almost tempted to just watch the 70s version in the meantime.

That seems like an unfortunate comparison for Jorumngand.
I remember someone here telling me to watch Black Lagoon (or was that Darker than Black?) when I was watching Jormungand. I suppose a bunch of mercs for hire wrecking shit up is a tiny genre. lol

They must have been recommending Black Lagoon. BL is a much much better version of Jormungand.

The wind flowing through her hair...

It feels like it has been a while since I've seen a segment dedicated to Yuno's personal progress. I am glad to have found another one in this episode because this is one of the more essential stories that this series has to tell.

Yuno feels tired and sluggish starting off. This fatigue returns her to an introspective mindset regarding advancing as an art student and a person. She even shows a hint of rivalry when she hopes (even for a split second) that
Miyako is slowing down on her work
. This doesn't make Yuno a bad person, it makes her human.

iISTxUp4ZwCJx.PNG

Determination

She doesn't take all of this thought only to stay idle and begins to concentrate on work. There are extra touches such as a time-skipped frames over her pencil box, showing her utensils being expended gradually and the classic "friends check out on person hard at work" shown in the screen shot above.

With the format of Hidmari Sketch as it is. By this point in time, assuming someone has seen all the episodes up to this point, we have seen Yuno's picture and the stress she faces on presentation day. Like a puzzle piece, I can now understand her woe's in that particular episode due to the events in this half-episode.

The entirety is fragmented in a fashion that functions for me as a viewer. Instead of causing confusion, it augments Yuno's strength as a character. Overall, a beneficial episode for Yuno with some of the adults' antics sprinkled in.

It gets worse.

Dude is one of the biggest assholes I can even remember in an anime series.

Shimao is a believable character, I don't really think of him as a big asshole. His actions are very understandable and very human. That doesn't mean I like what he does.

Otaking is at it again, this time with Star Wars.

I actually like it, his mechanical animation is pretty good, as opposed to his character animation.
i see he still hasn't gotten over his obsession with smothering everything with gratuitous shading

Feels like a midpoint of an arc and I guess that's what it is.
Taichi hitting Nagase seemed like a lost opportunity for more drama given how it was mostly just handwaved after it happened. I wish consequence was explored further.
