I don't drive hype trains anymore. I design them and I put them out there so other people can choose to drive them if they want, and they're responsible for the consequences. I just provide the tools.

Pfft, that sounds like something Hitler might have said.

I'm more interested in whatever bits of main plot that show our way.

This story wasn't as touching as earlier ones.

Even if you might have some certain feelings about the opening of the episode, the rest of the episode is such a fucking ride that by the end of the episode, it feels like the entire rules of the series and of old fans' expectations of the franchise have just gone out the window.

Why can't it be Sunday?!

Awesome transition into the OP. But the episode itself...man, it was just kinda sad. Poor Tomoko. ;_;

Yeah, the transition into the OP was pretty rad. Yeah, it was pretty sad episode if it reminds you of how high school was. Makes you remember that back then high school was almost a daily routine of saying FML on the only things that made you happy just vanish before your eyes.

In news that make no sense whatsoever:

Monster Hunter 4 has a collaboration with currently airing anime. Come on. Guess.

...

No, its not Love Lab. Its apparently Silver Spoon. There will apparently be a special Silver Spoon weapon in MH4. As in, its literally a silver spoon. No idea on stats or whatnot. There are scans but I won't post here of course.

They should have put a giant Pork-bowl as an enemy in the game.

Pizza Hut had a pizza box shield in Phantasy Star Portable. Is the spoon a hammer?

They're coffins on wheels.

Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!/Watamote Episode 10: Just two or three more episodes and I will finally be able to bury this overrated piece of refuse into the ground where it belongs. One of the major problems of this show is Tomoko doesn't change ever and watching her go through idle depression is growing boring. Also, I think this might be the episode that really cliches the Aspberger's Syndrome theory since now she is actively seeking isolation due to social discomfort.
Also, was I really supposed to feel any emotion for the whole club fake out? I know this show too well and figured it was something like an imagine spot because really she spent like 10 second of thought on the proposal.

Jabberwocky (from the author/artist of Nobunagun) is pretty great. I remember seeing Hosanna mention it and it didn't hit me till then that they did both series.

Interesting art style and it has dinosaurs!

Oh shit, this is the Jabberwocky guy? Interesting. Couldn't get into the story at all, but loved the art.

I should probably get back to adding my show history to hummingbird. Don't even think I got half way. At least I remembered to add what I was watching this season.

I wonder if that redesign will fix the fault with images becoming squashed when you resize the window.

Speaking of Nobunagun earlier. Looks like the anime is going to be produced by Bridge. No other staff yet, but hopefully they step it up from Devil Survivor 2 The Animation. That was horrid, probably in no small part due to Kishi being an awful director. :p

Redline

I just saw this tonight. Let me just say that I was literally at the edge of my seat for the last five or so minutes with the only Cheshire cat grin. The variety of music, the amazing animation, the sick character designs and the worlds they presented were literally out of this world. My favorite secondary characters must have been the Super Boins thanks in part to the extra participation from their kingdom and the princess. Those folks don't give two fucks who they manage to piss off haha. They certainly had competition in the form of
bounty hunters, a two timing gorilla and someone who has REALLY become one with his machine
. JP is also very lucky to have such a
great junk dealer who saved the day
. Whoever said JP's hair is messing with his head might be on to something too, but it payed off big time in the end. Crab Sonoshee was absolutely delicious and it was actually pretty cool that she is one of
JP's secret inspirations
. Man, I've never seen anything quite like Redline, but I imagine this would be what F-Zero would look like if you gave Kamiya a triple AAA budget and told him to go to work lol.

The only thing this movie needed was a
conclusion to the epic bio battle on Robo World
. You can't give us this
amazing new age Tetsuo
and then cut us off with a team this talented. Oh, and "Funky Boy" is without a doubt the best code name for such a
terrifying weapon
. That seriously sounds like a code name for a nuke. :p

Trigun: Badlands Rumble

Watched this two days ago even though I bought the movie months ago. I told myself I'd save it for a rainy day when I need a "pick me up". I gotta say that I was not disappointed in the least. This was good old Trigun, but with cleaner art that didn't stray from the original anime in style. I nearly chose JP audio since I'm used to going subbed, but I remembered how fond I was of the old dub. It was a pleasant surprise hearing those familiar english voices. The only thing I wasn't fond of was the excessive use of digital objects in the movie which didn't always fit. Overall it was pretty cohesive and the colors were great. The music was also top knotch as usual
Man, that music right when Vash fell into quicksand
. Vash also kinda lucked out for the most part in this movie. He tends to lose a lot along the way to his destination, but he got pretty lucky on this go around and I was surprised to find out that
Amelia only exists because of Vash's bumbling heroics
. I have no clue how well the movie did, but I hope it sold enough to keep Vash and his buddies in the minds of companies that fund these types of movies.

Monogatari episode 10
A good conclusion to the snail arc for the most part.
It was nice seeing Hachikuji turn out alright despite the million to one odds
. Hachikuji's stories always seem to be a big stepping stone for the relationships Araragi has with those near him which is always nice. Kizumonogatari needs to happen already after
seeing all the mayhem that little vampire could cause on her own
. Koyomi must have been on the only power rush to
give her any sort of trouble in that book
.

Well, even if it's bad, at least people might start paying attention to the manga.

Monogatari - 9

That bit with
adult Shinobu was actually sad
I should have, I feel, but didn't expect it to go that way at all.

5 Centimeters Per Second

Rushed to watch after having seen Garden of Words. I should probably sit down and let my thoughts simmer and stew on it more, but man my head wasn't in the right place to be watching this.

My immediate reaction is, what a complete piece of tragedy porn. It somehow ended on an infinitely more depressing note than if it was just him not ending up with akari and her ending up marrying someone else. I already personally have a dislike for the time passing trope where huge, negative things happen which some video games tend to be fond of lately.

The smart part of my brain wants to tell me that the point of the movie goes beyond the straight forward visceral love/heartbreak emotions, but they focus the hell out of them the entire way through. Especially towards the end of the second act, there's just so much more readily apparent things going on that it's hard to focus on the unsaid introspective elements its trying to push.

Starting with the second act, they start compounding so much of what I'd take away as hopelessness, I got numb to it halfway through the last act. If I could, I'd go back and tell my past self to just stop watching after the first act.
