I've actually started playing Persona 4, but that game's kicking my ass and none of the guides online are very helpful. A lot of different strata of character leveling too, and there's little clues to the relative importance of each aspect. It's like the Grand Strategy of RPGs.
The social aspect is awesome though, very similar to VNs.
I can't decide if Sweet is the best Clow Card or the lamest one. Either way, they kinda phoned this one in. A card that makes things super sweet and can turn things into sweets? Not exactly a menacing enemy.
But this show really never does fail to make me smile. I did feel bad for Shaoran at the end, watching Yukito eating the cake Sakura made and not being able to give any of his to him.
Fate/Zero 13 (1 end) (2nd rewatch, dubwatch, via neonalley)
The dub made Ryuunosukes whole message on the higher being, God and these joyous wonders etc, way more memorable and impactful than it was in my other watches, great by JYB.
“Some believe just like Scotch needs to be made in Scotland, an American company can’t make anime. I think that’s a narrow way of seeing it. Anime is an art form, and to say only one country can make this art is wrong.”
I’m inclined to think they will. The first episode opens with a fairly stout action sequence. Ruby, our main character, interrupts a gang of bad guys (highly reminiscent of A Clockwork Orange’s droogs) robbing a shop that carries a powerful substance – dust. Dust is the fuel for magic in RWBY
Whoever viz had that was live tweeting for this on tonight was awesome, all excited over Kuroh, thought it was great. Anyway, the anime looked amazing to see finally in a resolution that wasnt 480p or even less on tv, so gorgeous and Yata Misaki's skate scenes were wonderful and kind of immersive and even memorable. Great voices for all, cant wait to hear the rest and actually conversations from Mikoto, Munakata, etc.
Well I guess it's kinda rushed but not really like you can really cram all of the game into 12 episodes. Definitely feel like I'm just getting the cliffnotes version of the plot which I'm pretty ok with since it's just hyping me when I'll get to play the Vita game next year.
I am pretty glad they killed off the idol first. About time a show where characters get killed off, have someone I dislike die. ~_~
Still think that ED is probably the best this season.
Really nice touch with showing the dead characters plus protag in it.
The BGM for this is damn GOOD. I'm a sucker for techno beats and electronic keyboard instrumental. The colour exposition for some parts reminds me of Tsuritama.
Hajime is expected a super hyperactive girl with a notebook fetish which is quite unusual but damn she is :chet
Will continue to watch.
Edit: Taku Iwasaki is composing this? No wonder!!!
Gatchaman Crowds - 1
Uh, what? That was all over the place. And the pacing was so fast that I found it somewhat difficult to follow what was going on. It really could have used a bit of down time.
With that being said, I like the art style and the background art outside of the room they first meet in inside of the base. The CG outfits blended well with the art while in motion, but I'm not a fan of their designs. And Hajime's obliviousness was obnoxious yet strangely charming.
I swear to god there was music in this episode that was fitting for a porno.
And Usagi thinks being in a coma must be one of the greatest things ever. What a Meatball head.
I like how Usagi basically went to the Radio Tower to go THERE'S NO POINT TO LOVE LETTER READING ON A RADIO, IT WOULD BE BETTER TO DO IT IN PERSON, I don't think people would've like losing their jobs over that.
Little Girls Love Dreams are a power source that should be used in future products though.
I don't like Hajime. She needs to tone down the geneki. I'm already looking forward to the arc where she fails at something and learns a life long lesson or something.
It's still not as colorful as I imagine it would be besides the suits. Hopefully we're also through the whole exposition as well.
And then suddenly Mamoru Miyano said one line and I was hooked.
I don't really have anything to say about Gatchaman other than Hajime is super cute and has a wonderful chest. Will more than likely be Uchida Maaya's best role.
Oh my Akari~n/ nendo had that but I assumed it was because it was just a packin with the CD. Just checked the packaging for the Marika nendo and she did have just the diagonal nendo print as well, but she was my first so I guess I didn't really think about it back then. Guess getting the Akari and Godoka nendos at a later date made me think differently.
Royal Mail charged me £20 for the privilege of collecting my own post.
I think I will always remember him in a post such a this, and the others too. I think their skills must be complimented for while the main characters are using that SEED or whatever these guys dont and still manage to last a long time against them, perhaps some powerup is needed for Kira and Athrun, Dearka too?
If I was in universe I guess Id probably on the side of being alright with the Coordinators, Ultimate Coordinator, and what not. I cant see anything wrong with them or why people would even be opposed to them.
Though the cloning and stuff was a bit odd though the artificial womb aspect didnt seem that bad. It was eventually safe even.
.
Ending stuff there:
Flay is still relevant? No one else seemed to even remember her or have flashback towards her. Am disappointed they are putting her in our faces next episode and giving her some huge role when we have other better characters like the leaders of the three ships (Lacus, Natarle, and Murrae). Was hoping she'd just take a backseat to the plot.
This is the only annoying thing in gatchaman, wtf where they smoking when they thought of that character. Needlessly sexualised. I would like to watch some animes where the characters aren't stupidly sexualised for absolutely no reason other than fan service.
This is some team rocket shit here. I mean seriously. HELL LETS LOOK AT THOSE PODS! THEY'RE CLEARLY UNNATURAL AS HELL TO BE HERE! NO THAT'S TOTALLY OKAY AND NOT POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN THE SLIGHTEST.
This is why they're taking young girls (and Haruna's) Dreams, because they're easy to steal.
He knows all about eating friends I bet. Also those glasses should be a big alarm sign for Usagi. It's clear that's Tuxedo Mask man. Then again, despite Usagi not looking much different as Sailor Moon, the enemies don't recognize her immediately, so it goes both ways.
Other Notes: Blond dude (Motoki???) is a chubby chaser...
EDIT: Umino takes pictures of his admittingly hot teacher.
Oh come on, even I figured that one out. Once I saw the article they were reading, I was like, "Ah, okay, it was a rescue helicopter." And goddamn Oreki took forever to explain that. "A normal English teacher being happy to see a helicopter means absolutely nothing. But a mountain climber being happy to see a helicopter means a lot." C'mon son, get to the point.
The biggest highlight of this episode really wasn't the mystery, it was the fact that Oreki actually went out of his way to solve it; because he was curious, not because Chitanda was bugging him. It seems that he's done a little growing throughout this series. He's actually doing things he doesn't have to do now. Chitanda's point was interesting though, that it's not that he doesn't do things he doesn't have to do, but that he doesn't do things for himself that he doesn't hve to do. And in a way he didn't do this for himself, but because he thought it would be wrong to just assume how his old teacher felt. So...yeah. I guess I could say what I want about him, but he has become very unselfish, if he wasn't already to begin with ( though his policy of energy conservation strikes me as pretty selfish, like he couldn't be bothered to do anything). Interesting. The changes may be small and hard to notice, but they're there.
Having never played any of the games before, this is my immediate first impression:
- Neptune is a lazy irresponsible jerkass but because she's the MC she still gets to win fights and stuff
Besides that, I thought it was alright. I'm sure it's got more to offer for people familiar with the characters and world though; I'll look forward to those reviews.
I'm......a little disappointed? I left this episode feeling nothing, which I really didn't expect.
Beyond my total apathy toward all of the infodump and exposition, which all amounted to what's essentially sentai/mahou shoujo plot number eleventy-billion, I really couldn't feel Nakamura's heart in this. There are some arty shots and his aesthetic is there, and even then it's unevenly applied, but I couldn't sense any of the usual pet focuses like character psychology or even [C]'s social commentary. I don't know how much control over the creative process he has in this compared to his previous projects, and for now his involvement feels like a coat of paint rather than something more, uhh, whole, I guess. This just doesn't seem like the kind of subject matter that would personally appeal to his sensibilities.
I think that some of my disappointment has to do with Hajime specifically; I'm trapped at a terrible crossroads where my critical faculties and wish fulfillment needs are in diametric opposition. My basest self secretly loves starry-eyed, cloyingly, naively optimistic and ceaselessly genki girls because it's an ideal, ideal perhaps because these characters impart the sense that they would love you unconditionally, that doesn't exist in real life. This is also precisely why I despise their presence from a critical standpoint; genki-bots are grotesquely unrealistic and typically one-note. They're generally worthless for dramatic purposes because they have total moral clarity and childlike perceptions of right and wrong, making their actions predictable and their identities barren for cultivating interesting characterization. I'm hoping that the show can surprise me and do something with her in spite of her personality and that she's not just going to be played straight as a vehicle for manufactured appeal, because she'll likely become intolerable should that happen. For now......ehhhhhhhh. I got tired of her sparkling wonder at everything and her playful disregard for Gacha protocol pretty quickly.
Further in regard to Hajime, I'd almost complain that some of the material in the episode feels declasse for Nakamura, but I again remember [C]. The
super-rapey scene of JJ reaching into her bosom to activate her Gatchaman powers
was bad enough, but
those moe orgasm noises during her transformation sequence
? Kind of gross. She also has huge tits, and her seifuku with its sack-like top seems designed to emphasize this.
It's early days, but I have nothing positive to say about any of the other characters. There's the okama, the lazy dude, the fapbait, the.....uhh......yellow-haired suspenders guy. CG is bad, combat choreography was lacking, Hajime's suit design is atrocious. Not sure what else to say at this point, but it wasn't what I expected, even if I'm not even sure what I expected.
Just the name of the team members. It's lifted from the old show and I think there's a bit of assumption one might have at least a rudimentary knowledge of the show's terms or iconography:

Nah, they are better and iconic. Has that good superhero vibe to it that I think's kinda timeless. Crowds is doing its own thing though so I'm willing to give it pass though.
What I like about what they're doing there is the apparent reflection of the soul being the suit's manifestation. At least I think that's what they were getting at!
