I like Nisekoi, but I'm sticking with buying the manga. It was typical shaft, so the budget wasn't consistent.
Plus I don't think I'll rewatch it that much.

LOL $200 for a complete 20 episode series

With no dub

In 2014

on the plus side aniplex makes NisA releases look reasonably priced.
luckily funimation and sentai have most of the series I want and they both go on sale at good prices from time to time.

so that one is $75 for 5 episodes or $15 per episode....

hmmmm they should rescue Gintama (which they helped produce)
at 201 eps for the first series.
51 eps for the second series.
13 eps for the third series
a movie that continues after that...
you could get (201+51+13)*$15 = $3975 for just the TV series (released in 53 parts of 5 episodes each at $75 each) and another $50 or so for the movie >.>;

Given the love for gintama around here I am sure some people would pay for it >.>;

edit: I see it's $30 for the base DVD of kill la kill part 2... but still that's more then double the price of your average sentai or funimation release.

They're releasing Barakamon on video, so it's possible.

That's true, and Barakamon isn't the kind of title Funimation would usually release either. At the same time though, they picked up the home video rights at the same time they picked up the streaming rights. I'd say Ping-Pong's home video state is still a bit unsure, but I'm not especially optimistic given Funimation's release history.

Then again, they did experiment a bit by releasing a sub-only title. Given that titles like Ping-Pong have a more limited audience, they could release it like that. Then again, that's not certain either; look at how long they've been doing nothing with Tatami Galaxy, for instance.

In a perfect world they'd release both titles on BD, but I just can't bring myself to trust them.

Anime is really that expensive to produce? +$500K for a 25 minutes OVA?

Also for those who want to check and see the listings as early as possible:

http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/kx8QCmE0jqfERqcJ7L/browse/changes/4/0/0

TRSI has the link for it on the front page. :)
Almost nobody except for 4 or 5 people here ever have the initiative to check stuff like that though, even if they know about it. I certainly wish more people would...

If you have any more ideas on how to increase the number of people taking action to report news, I'm all ears.

I probably should just get a mutli region BD player…

or I can just save my money and complain about the state of the UK market like I always do.

Aniplex, but its such a weird thing to angry about.. you like dem compression yo?
People usually complaining about their price, not this.

Fuck jamming 10+ in one disc for myself. I don't want bootleg quality.
agreed. Aniplex is saving the R1 market from the bargain bin bootleg quality ghetto. you get what you pay for.

People kind of want both. I feel there is a middle-ground between 'Haha you payed money for this?' and 'I can't afford to eat this month' that the US market doesn't really get. We've seen some decent releases at OK prices too. It's not like this is the only choice.

Regions are so dumb. At least the US and Japan are the same region this time. :D
And Japan actually releases most of their media, anime especially as region free, meaning you only get to see the dumb reverse importation boogeyman side-effects but not get more content as a result!

I'd much rather pay $35 for a full 13 episode release from funimation then $50 for a 5 episode release from aniplex with slightly better video quality.

of course I also rarely buy blu rays unless they are near the same price as dvd....
and I watch my anime at 480 on crunchyroll all the time... so obviously I don't care about a few extra pixles of quality.

But like Theonik said there should've middle ground, but I'm still glad there's option to get thing that I want to compromise for such like F/Z and TTGL.

How is Neon Genesis Evangelion so cheap. That anime had great animation. Would like to see how much EoE costs?

FF7 advent children wrecking everything.

I just want someone to release the second Gintama Movie and I'd be fine.

Well uh, this is much more interesting than I expected. I'll throw them some bones I guess.

LOLOLOLOL at the 5 million reward. Guys would be lucky to even get the 500k.

Little Witch Academia managed over 600k with no stretch goals after 500k. I think this could maybe make it to the 1 mil, but it should at least hit the initial funding goal.

...maybe now's actually not the best time to come back here yet. Might want to see how things go and perhaps wait until the fall.
Don't want to accidentally do anything insensitive. Hito's rightfully called me out on my bullshit in the past.

Well shit it's about time, Esdese and Justice in the same episode. Now the show can start getting entertaining for realsies.
But the waifu wars will soon intensify to the point were we may not be able to contain it.

And it's IT'S ESDESE, I REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS ESDEATH TOMFOOLERY

I'd like to have both too, but when choosing between what we have right now I prefer what Aniplex does.

also it's worth noting that Aniplex releases also seem to have a fast turnover from JP to US release. that's a good thing too.

LWA also had the first episode streaming in multiple places on the Internet and people hyping Studio Trigger up to high heaven.

True but I would think Ando and SotS carry more name recognition overall.

Ando does have a number of misfires though which will probably hurt funding. How many people liked Canaan?
I kinda did.
Also I'm not sure how popular Sword of the Stranger is in the West and how popular it is with people/bottom feeding otaku who would support a Kickstarter of this nature.

Best girl ain't even on the cover hmmmm.

well it's a given they were going to put the worst girl on the cover of the first series given she is supposed to be the main female.

well second worst girl, I suppose I dislike
her servent
more than her, but I like pretty much everyone else better than her.

True but I would think Ando and SotS carry more name recognition overall.

I can at least tell you what LWA stands for and who studio trigger is.
I can't remotely tell you what those guys have done off the top of my head... but alas I am very bad with people's names >.>;

Change the name to somethingmonogatari. Instant kick starter success.

Listen, if you need to talk about anything ever we are pm, dm , chat, phone call away. We will endure together.

Crunchyroll announced that they got the complete series of Card Captor Sakura for streaming with sub and dub.

Nice. Now people can finally see how adorable it is.

It has no UWEEEEEEEEEEs or Hanyans so it's worthless.

I gotta agree. I was discussing this yesterday.
Without Sakura Tange its not Sakura!

Yep, if the UK gets a release at least the price can be reasonable. If. I don't really care for English dubs or trinkets.

So what would be a good BD player to get?
For region-free players, the cheapest way is to find a model that can be easily modded for the task. Some searching might help. Places like BD forums are good to look at. I can't really help you on this

I agree, if the later is the better outcome because it means that good releases are at least available. Though I think this is a false choice in a way as buying either when you like neither sends the wrong message to these companies I think. If they lose sales because they are not catering to what people want they are bound to reconsider.

I hope they announce the return of Kaikimonogatari.
For what it's worth, the author seemed interested in the idea of writing a prequel (or prequels) about the specialists (i.e. Oshino, Gaen, Kaiki, etc).
Besides, there are some mysteries regarding their past that have yet to be solved, so it would be nice to do something about those...

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders 19
what the hell does Lali-ho mean? Was that even in the manga?
Yup, it was.

I wonder... what series was the progenitor for the whole "magical girl with a talking critter mascot character" cliche anyway? Or is the cliche itself derived even further from something else?
Most magical girls started as witches in some form, and witches have familiars. I believe it's an extrapolation from that.

Watching Gokusen. Thats one badass teacher. I guess there isn't time for the Yakuza Bosses Daughter/Police Chiefs Son hookup. That dog is simply bizarre though.
