Thanks everyone for the Evangelion info. Bummer that the series isn't conveniently available. Luckily I saw the series a long time ago, and have had an itch to rewatch it and maybe even understand the ending this time now that i'm older and wiser... or something.
I might give those Rebuilds a chance just because I can buy them easily.

The idea of properly addressing a Psycho Hazard, and what that implies about the proper role of an Inspector, would have been a really interesting one to run with. But it's not one the show has any interest in tackling.
I'd just take it as typical sci-fi dystopia novel where certain rules set by the government are non-sensical to the readers at one point.
I really enjoy the show, but I basically told myself I'd take it at face value because if it were a longer show that was focused on something else other than the big case they would have done a better job at explaining little details on how the world works. Heck if it were a novel it meant it would have had the liberty to go into as much detail as they needed.
But when you have a cop drama in a sci-fi setting and you decide to focus on the case-by-case basis on the first half and then tackle the main plot later on, you're not gonna have time for details on the system that the audience considers vital, especially when cops are essentially cut-off from this information. In many of these dystopian novels the protagonist meets somebody higher up that can give background on the system. Probably my main gripe with the show, but I still love it as a whole.
It wasn't a show interested in telling you about the world as much as using the setting for the main plot.

It definitely is one of the more ridiculous ideas I've seen in a dystopian sci fi. Many follow issues that the author feels may come in the future. Censorship, overpopulation, etc...
Psycho-Pass dealt with the topic of stopping the crime before it happens. Similar to say Minority Report. The difference is that Minority Report kept it fairly simple and believable for the most part. Psycho Pass went full anime with the "that guy is nervous, kil'im!" premise. They should've explained it. Heck, Urobuchi should've had a 40 minute first episode and do the info dump 1st episode he loves to do if it meant getting explanation on the world and system.
Again I'm a lover of sci-fi so I take what I get when it comes to non-gundam-style sci fi in anime. The show wasn't perfect by any means, but people over here imho say it's much worst than it is, when in general it's considered a pretty decent anime by many. In fact AnimeGAF is the most prevalent place I've seen with such animosity towards the show.
People kept telling me season 2 was the worst, and I enjoyed it enough (annoying skinny dick showing guy aside). Shame to hear there's a season liked even less. But I'll finish this off so I can properly rank my favorite dramas. Then it's off to the Shield again for what would be the last show among the 'great tv dramas' I haven't seen. At least that really matter.
People don't like The Wire S2 because suddenly it's about white dudes. But really, when it is just flattened out to be about how poverty ruins lives across the races, it all makes sense.
Also, it begins with McNulty being such a brilliant asshole.
Not much to say about this one. Really beautiful episode. Just an old guy teaching some kids about nature, life, and the things we take for granted. Let nature run its course, don't interfere too much and things will be alright, for the most part.
It's also becoming increasingly clear that humans are most likely the cause of the Raaja coming to be. We're responsible for most, if not all of the damage the earth has accrued.
The ending song for this episode is another good one. Really beautiful.
Edit: ^ I sometimes feel as if I'm the only one on the planet who still hasn't seen all of Cowboy Bebop yet.

I think you kind of misunderstand where I'm coming from concerning this issue. Duckroll and I made some pretty lengthy posts on the subject around the time the first two episodes came out. I really like duckroll's insight in particular.
Basically, if the system is supposed to be enforced by shooting everyone whose number gets too high, you wouldn't need to involve people at all. You just would stick Dominators onto your street scanners and solve all your problems. But law enforcement in the show isn't carried out that way. Inspectors can choose when to use and not use their Dominators. Why do they have that choice? Because sometimes, as Akane shows in episode 1, the best decision is not to fire even when you have the right to do so.
The writing of the show could explore that idea, and it'd be about what it means to be a cop and what the role of law enforcement is, whether you're in magic future-land or in the present. Instead, they decide to make it about evil madmen and government secrets and dystopias and shit, which can be kind of fun sometimes, but it's a lot less interesting overall. Especially when your dystopia lacks a strong sense of how it arose that might make the viewer dread it as something possible.

Outside of the scanner scene, I'm glad the exposition has been dialed back. But I'm also disappointed that the show again chooses to paint in black and white. I can accept the straightforward story of this broken factory system (even if how constantly it hammers home that the supervisor is bad gets to be a little silly), but the way Ginoza completely loses his shit stamps a big "HE IS WRONG" on his forehead. There should be some kind of doubt about going with the Enforcers over the Psycho-Pass, but the show elects to make the choice obvious with how Ginoza flies off the handle. Fun action at the end, though.
Also, important question: how accurate is Funimation with credits? I've noticed that they don't match up with ANN's credits, but I know ANN is not entirely reliable either.
HaNaYaMaTa 6
Girls growing up causing parent worries. Study montage. One failure, whole this fails. Cute dancing montage. Somehow reverse earlier decision by earnestly hard working. More conflict unrelated to the earlier conflict.
I've seen several episodes out of order over the years, but I've just never watched it from beginning to end for some reason. The episode I've seen the most is the one with the guy who was experimented on. He had an umbrella and the episode took place mostly at like a theme park. Pretty sad episode.
It's like every time Cowboy Bebop is on, it's always that episode I see.

I suppose those Yukari specials are a form of exclusive. lol
I remember that Genshiken Nidaime had like 10 different retailer exclusives for the first tank, so someone hardcore had to buy the same book 10 times to get them all.
why would there be meltdowns when an incompetent clickbait site incompetently reviewed something?
I mean I take kotaku only slightly more seriously then sankaku complex which means I still treat it as a less credible news source then the guy at the gas station yelling about the end of the world
much like sankaku though they sometimes have some fun stupid articles and it's amusing how far they will go for clickbait titles.

I remember that ep... I often forget it exists because it feels so out of place in bebop due to supernatural powers while the rest of the series is rather grounded.
plus I can't help but feel he is a villain stolen from batman
Yeah, Toei annoys me to no end with that stuff. I'm not sure if they've ever done a proper restoration on any of their older shows, since the ones I keep reading about are all upscaled. They're terrible when it comes to their BDs.
Nothing's as frustrating as old anime that could have proper HD versions being upscaled out of laziness. Not a Toei example, but this even happened to Legend of the Galactic Heroes.
I should totally finish that series.... it and say I love you came out in the same season, and while I wasn't minding either of them I didn't want quite so much romance in a season... and thus had to decide to drop one... I couldn't decide so I dropped both lol.
I have since seen say i love you since it was dubbed but I haven't managed to get back to my little monster yet,..
In this Episode, Felix again returns, half dead. Like, literally half-zombie. Though I'm already a skeleton...but...okay whatever, fuck it, anime.

....
don't read this spoiler until you get to episode 5 or so... (I dropped the series at some point so it can't be spoilers past ep 5 or 6 or so...)I just can't resist posting it....
GAHHHHHHHHHHH it's tricking you as well.... :/ I wonder if you will be annoyed when it starts back tracking and by episode like 5 we are actually quite a bit farther back in the romance then episode 2 was :/... I hope I am not confusing this with another show, but I don't think I am.
so you are saying if I felt that the episode where she who must not be named and her family rose to power was one of the stupidest things I saw last year in anime then I shouldn't continue watching kill la kill at a later time :/
that's a shame, I was hoping for some good over the top action if I ignored their horrible attempt at a story :/
It's not really a complaint, inasmuch as every shounen/Marvel movie is about training up to fight some generic bad guy who wants to take over the world for some inexplicable reason. I just found it funny to have it actually externalized as a question.
There's supposedly also going to be a Funimation store version of the LE. I swear if the packaging is better I'll throw a fit.
As to the difference, nothing is announced but I assume it'll be a limited/fancier packaging, some extras like drawings or some crap, maybe music. Point is it's mine. It's finally mine. The blu-ray I've been waiting for ever so long.
Karuta seems quite interesting as a game or sport. Enjoyed those match scenes the most so far.
Visuals are nice although faces look a bit off, probably once again due to the big eyes.
So far the protagonists' characters were established and I like them well enough. That said I hope they execute well on the love-triangle drama that's bound to happen. Taichi won't be too much of a one-note asshole I hope. Disliked the drama caused by him the least in the elementary school days, even if it was necessary to establish everyone. But I do expect a lot of character progression.
Overall it has been a bit too drama heavy for my liking, especially since some things are so obvious, like the Arata's grandfather's death. That they didn't even realize that after seeing the shrine... (I mean I guess the characters wouldn't actually know who that man was but damn it, take a good guess).
Up to this point it's quite alright but hope it'll draw me in further.
The drama isnt so heavy after the initial dosage. Its smattered around here or there but the show has settled into the training and preparing for the tournaments. Techniques and day to day activities of her Karuta group.

I would argue that the first four episodes are basically the best episodes of the series, since it becomes something entirely different for the rest of its run.
