Well... this is it people. Tomoya manage to ask Nagisa if she would marry him and she did say yes. Basically, telling you, they're for each other even in good and bad time which what happen in this episode. Also, another thing I like is the structure of this episode. It manage to get an arch of an character and the development of the main characters to work together as one which is what I want to see not, the earlier episode where it's literally arch episode for one character which stop any development of Tomoya and Nagisa from its track. I guess if they want to push another arch, they should follow this.
The arch is coming from Yusuke which is very touching as you start to realize how much he have to go through with his dream to be a musician and seeing the rise and fall during it. A touching ending I have to say when you see how he and Kouko know each other.
Another thing it bring up which they is hint in the previous few episode is Tomoya dad. You don't see him for a while but you got to hear a bit from Nagisa who keep asking Tomoya about his dad and if he tell him of what have happen to them. Unfortunately, this bring a bad side of the episode as he did something illegal which cause a massive rift between him and his son as Tomoya is starting to have a decent life in his work and was about to get a new job with more money on it. This end bad and kinda ruin everyone day, mostly for Tomoya. I am guessing Nagisa want to try to patch their relationship as much as she can as she want to see both of them happy like a family which he never have with his dad.
Start to notice this as but all of the arch you follow is the hardship between all the characters in the show. Whether it's truly all hardship will depend on the audience when they watch it. For me, it's Yusuke arch which click quite well for the situation Tomoya going to have to face. In a way, it might foreshadowing something major will happen between Tomoya and Nagisa as they're in the point of relationship where they will have to get through the good and bad time together like what I say about Tomoya dad.
Overall, a very powerful episode and now it's official both of the main characters we're following for a while is now going to marry for real.
Impression of 1st half of 2nd season
Now, my though in the 1st half of this season. If you read what I wrote for a while, you might have an idea of what I think of the show. If not, then I will say this again. Those arch episode are nice to watch but it didn't really push the development of Tomoya and Nagisa characters. In a way, it stall their development and push more the development for the other side and main characters. This isn't something I say it's bad as I like the arch they did in the last season but now, most of the characters who have the arch in this season is either characters who didn't do much in the show except as a place holder to push the story forward. It's weird to see they story even if it's very emotional or touching to watch as all you know of them are few scene when they're in. Still, I guess the creator of the game might have did this in the game so, it might make sense there. Just weird to see it here. I guess if they do the arch story of someone, it might be better if they do it as they're development the two main characters of the show as it will be more impact like Ep 12 with Yusuke arch.
I guess from Ep 01 till around Ep 08 is where you have to get through the arch and those slice of life episode. Once you get through them, you will start to follow more of the story of Tomoya and Nagisa as this is what the whole story is target for which is where it get very interesting to watch. For now, I think the 1st half of the show might be a bit weaker but it start to pick up now and I guess it will get very interesting and emotional right till the end. Hope it's worth it.
