The Brotherhood OPs really aren't that good. The song picks are all worse, and none of the direction is as interesting or varied. They're basically just stock shounen action OPs with predictable direction and boring pop songs. Good animation I guess.

I think they're pretty good outside of the last one. 2003 smokes them though.

2003 also has one of the best scores of any anime. Brotherhood has a fine OST but nothing on the original anime.

Brotherhood has some cool songs like Golden Time, Shukan Sentimental and Rain.....but still can't beat Melissa, Away and Rewrite

Lmao I just saw the Shieldbro pv and its hilarious. That English into lol.

Its definitely gonna be my guilty pleasure of the season when it comes out.

Hell Girl S4: 1
I was looking for something to watch in Crunchyroll and decided to watch this on a whim. I have never watched Hell Girl, but I reckoned it was more of a procedural kind of show, which it was, although there were a few things that are obviously related to the overall mythos that I had no knowledge of.

As for the episode itself, phew, revenge is a dish best served cold. Also, they totally got the wrong gal. Not sure if I like the show or dislike the show. Mainly it seems to revel in the torture more than I like. I have never been a fan of torture porn. At the same time, I did appreciate the overall dramatic irony of the situation at the end.

Hell Girl is totally torture porn - not only in the surreal vengeance sequences but also in the emotional torture of the twisted nature of all the stories. Hell Girl basically tries to keep itself fresh by constantly trying to out-twist itself in cruelty. It's a repugnant franchise.

Fate Apocrypha 5

I've watched too much Anime and I can't tell if Ruler has the hots for the homunculus or is only being nice for the sake of being nice and sweet. Help me out Anime, have more tsundere or blushing tropes.

Besides that this was largely the aftermath of last episode. Don't know how many episodes they have, seems a bit of a waste

Thanks, I am staying away from it.

The Legend of Korra 37-END

The Book three end fights were pretty cool. Tenzin did some dope moves even while taking all those hits.
I didn't dig the more mopey Korra of Book four too much and the way they turned Kuvira into an antagonist felt a bit too heavy handed/far fetched but damn that ending. Gave me everything I wanted and even more. OK, not exactly even more because there was no kiss but hey, I'll take all I can get.
I find myself surprised about how much I appreciated Varrick and his antics with Julie. I was glad they got married.
This show started kinda average and the Book two felt weak (though the Origins part was pretty cool as someone told me earlier) but it was a fun watch all in all.

As an aside, I really gotta complain about the DVD quality. Truly utter shit.

The Reflection 2

This was much more easily swallowed once they have an actual cohesive narrative and not just withholding information for the sake of making you curious about what the fuck is going on.

Now we have a clearer idea of who the three leads are. Well x-on is still largely a mystery, but still it's nice to hear him interact a bit with another character just to piece bit by bit his personality.

I think the show still has a ways to go, but it's definitely a step up from episode 1. Please stop awkwardly putting the idol group in the show though. It's doing a disservice to the show as a whole when you clearly need to remind your audience that you have financial backing that demands you have them.

If you need to have them, have them fit more naturally in the narrative. Have them be visiting the USA, or be reflected. But nothing is going in Japan. At least when American films awkwardly bring their Chinese aimed scene they attempt to make it part of the narrative.

Surprised how blatant its stealing from things like Marvels terrigen mists. I guess with Stan Lee on the tin they feel immune. And really...steal from something not utter drek like the bloody terrigen mists.

Vatican Detectives 4

Even with the spoiler of all of the events of this episode were fucking amazing. I'm not going to say that I take back my previous comments from the first 3 episodes and the way they jumped back and forth between new mysteries without fully solving the previous ones. But that was because in episode 4 they decided that fuck you we aren't writing Shakespeare this is God damn Anime, and just came crashing through the building.

It has become one of the highlights of my season with this episode, I was crying at the developments. The leads are there only to be the navigators, the real star of the show is the tsunami of sharks with lasers they have to sail through.

I hope in the next few episodes they fight a giant blob monster or get in Vatican robots. The sky is the limit.

Amen

I finished watching Your Lie In April last night and the ending broke me. It was so sad and tragic.
Kaori dying during Kousei's big performance was so sad. Until the last few episodes I had assumed they would be able to have one last big performance together. But in a sense, she was with him in spirit at that moment during his last goodbye, through their mutual feelings and memories. A little bit of Kaori will probably always accompany Kousei when he takes the stage in the future. She was worried about being forgotten, but it's safe to say he will never forget her.

The letter was beautiful. At that time I had forgotten about the lie and what it was supposed to be. I assumed it was something about being a musician: taking the stage and "pretending" no matter how you feel. It was obvious she had feelings for him from the start and that Watari was just a ploy to approach him. It was frustrating in a way. If she had told him earlier she could have experienced all those things a girl of her age is supposed to experience: the first date, kiss etc. and they could have spend a lot more time together, with Kousei not thinking about himself as the third wheel in the love triangle. Also, I wish she would have gathered enough courage to approach them earlier, not only when she learned her time was limited.

The fragility of life is one the central themes of the show: how fast and suddenly everything you hold dear can be gone. The show prepares you for what's to come early on and tells you things aren't going to end well. Yet most of the time I was shocked when things went from bad to worse for Kaori at the most unexpected moments. Maybe it was some form of wishful thinking that somehow things would magically turn around.
The hospitalization halfway through and the second credit sequence, with Kaori laying motionless half-submerged in the water, were painful to watch. Reflection on the beginning of the story, it's easy to understand how passionate and desperate Kaori was to play at least once with Kousei on stage. She didn't know how much time he had left before her illness would take her away from the violin and make her unable to realize her big dream of accompanying Kousei.

It was definitely one of the most emotionally moving anime I've ever seen.

Adding some more

Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul - Episode 17

The romance in this show is weird as fuck, but it's certainly interesting and unique, I'll give it that. This show has been a slow build, but it's finally starting to come together. Might end up topping the first season for me.

Is it really weird? I actually think it's a very natural sort of romance. Certainly more so than a lot of romance anime out there.

I think the actual romance is very natural actually. What's weird for me is how much I'm accepting it at this point considering how much Charioce has done lol. Though I'm sure that's the point, so the show did its job well.

I don't think being a bad person who is able to do terrible things to get what you want, automatically means you are a monster who values nothing and has no ability to just... enjoy things in life. He's obviously a very fucked up person, but his feelings for Nina are real, and he admits it is a weakness.

What I -REALLY- want to know though, is what the FUCK is up with the UFO in the ED. Lmao.

YLiA was definately a beautiful experience from start to finish in music and aestetics. The
letter
scene broke me....

If you like emotional shows, don't forget to give Clannad/After Story, Anohana and Plastic Memories Angel Beats to a lesser extent as well..

Made in Abyss: 1
The background art is sure beautiful, and the soundtrack is amazing. And I don't really mind the character designs.

So Golden Kamuy is getting an anime adaptation. It's published in a Seinen magazine.

Here's the synopsis from MAL.

In Hokkaido, the far northern lands of Japan, Sugimoto survived the Russo-Japanese war of the Meiji era. Nicknamed "Invincible Sugimoto" during the war, he now seeks the riches promised by the gold rush in hopes of saving the widowed wife of his now deceased comrade from the war. During his hunt for gold, he finds hints of a hidden stash of gold by corrupt criminals. Partnering with an Ainu girl that saves his life from the harsh climates of the north, they venture into a survival adventure in a race against the criminals that seek the hidden stash.

Sounds interesting.

So not worth it
Heh, the AHO-GIRL OP song turned up in my Spotify Release Radar, in the instrumental version. It made me instantly happy. Something about this show, man.

Song is by angela, who did the Knights of Sidonia OP, for some reason that's funny to me, such different type of songs.

Sounds interesting.

Golden Kamuy is one of the great contemporary manga that gets overlooked constantly. I'm surprised the series received an adaptation considering the governmental and cultural silence on the crimes committed against the Ainu people - not even being officially recognized as a (former, for all intents) Japanese culture until 2008. It is a nice slice of taboo that rarely gets mentioned in media given the Japanese governments vested interest in Japan as an export.

Considering my taste for existentialist philosophy, the premise of "A Record of a Yokihama Shopping Trip" sounds like my kind of thing.

At the very least, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is relaxing and cute. Not an ounce of violence. Definitely has sadness.

Tbh I found the 2003 version to be a lot more emotional and the comedy wasn't overused like it was in Brotherhood.

Plus it had Brothers OST and vastly better Openings.

Brotherhood definitely has a lot more meat to it. I am saddened they shot through the beginning so quick. Though I never did compare Brotherhood to the manga chapters. When set next to the original things just seem to move at a blazing pace.

Princess Principal Episode 4:

So we are back to present times it would seem and I suppose the information dropped here is as close as Chise is getting to background story as the team searches for another McGuffian. The real highlight here is not the caper but the deeper web of the spy game even among the team as we see a lot of movement working in potentially different directions and the key here is nothing is assured.
Indeed I don't think it has been pointed out yet in any of the other reviews but in Episode 2 it was revealed that the real princess is the MC.
