Yeah, as far action platformers go it's pretty average. The Maui sections are just straight up bad.
I gotta say, I really like the art in jojo. It's just so unique. And from the screenshots I've seen from the anime, super colorful too.
Namely that the story in that game is complete dogshit.

Araki, when he actually colors things, loves to switch palettes around and not adhere to a realistic or consistent one. It looks awesome. Watching his art evolve through each Part as you read is pretty cool too.

Looks like you can edit the config file but you get other small issues. Apparently scrolling backgrounds are worse for it. Oh well.
