As far as I can tell the battles play like persona 3/4 aside from it being demons instead of shadows.
Getting around dungeons and encountering enemies seems to be different though
Edit: also I'm still super happy about Naoto's P4DAN outfit #suspenders

They look really good. All the HUD stu looks amazing.
In SMT games and in Persona 1 and 2 you would negotiate with demons in order to get them to fight for you.

In the SMT games, you can talk to demons for recruitment, money, intimidation and other interactions.
