How do you have the game? Didn't you get a US copy? Then you would have had to start a fake US psn account to get the dlc. I'm not sure the EU dlc would even work with a US copy...

The more I watch these Vaati videos about Dark Souls, the more I appreciate the individual characters of the game, while also finding the entire setup to the story to be more and more ridiculous.
When I started Dark Souls, I watched the opening, the world was shit and full of dragons, and then they found the fire and four souls and all that, the dark soul being what birthed humanity, or humans in general.
So immediately I'm like "Okay, Gwyn looks human, Nito...he's messed up but he is a human looking skeleton when you get right down to it", already my mind is failing to wrap around how these three came to exist in the first place, and even Gwyn had a wife who was... something, human? I don't know.
Then there's the undead curse, almost everyone you meet in DS1 is undead, I can appreciate the fact the world went to shit, but the terms for being undead are still confusing to me, does death just not exist? Everyone "Dies" and find they can't? It's really any wonder the world had any sort of civilization at all at any point, there are a lot of huge gaps that are important to me in giving the story context, because "The world sucks, try and fix it but it probably won't matter" is just not enough.
So, the Dark Souls universe is baffling to me, and the idea new kingdoms managed to be built over and over seems quite strange, you never see any indication that at some point, everything was fine, Lordran is dead and barren of any sort of regular peaceful life, Drangleic is also dead and empty of any sort of life, you get enough information as to why that is but it also never seems like anything was ever fine in the Dark Souls world.
I guess the simplest way to sum up my issue is; It would be like the Fallout series telling me it's world came into existence already in a state of being destroyed by nukes "Yes we created the world this way, it came pre-nuked, don't ask why, just accept it because."
I just wanted to get that off my chest.

Oh great, now I either wait until November and Europe gets the DLC or make an US account. You know What? It isn't worth it, I won't touch this game ever again.
Unless the EU DLC is free and works with my copy.
There're no reason why it shouldn't, you know why? Because they probably won't even bother putting another language than english or japanese.
You may think I overreact, and I know DLC don't come out everywhere at the same time, that's not even the point here.
But I had a lot of to deal with Atlus in the past.

The world has just been fucked so thoroughly and for so long in Dark 1 that the undead curse has become an everyday thing. The glimpses you get of the former glory of the world are totally there. Anor Londo is an area dedicated to showing us that as the player.
Death probably used to be just fine, but we can assume the undead curse has now taken hold.
It's more like a Fallout game that takes place 1000 years after the nukes and is dying slowly that whole time.
This is just based on my own playthroughs. Been a long time since I watched the Vaati/ENB theories.
Why not both?
The curse only comes into effect when a kingdom starts to fail and not everyone has the curse which is why it's not always a problem. Kingdoms prospered but eventually fell to shit which is when the curse comes and causes problems, I think.
