Hmm, I think some older episodes have more witty subtle humor in it. They weren't outlandish and let the situation speak mostly for themselves. Some can get dark, like Homer's enemy.

Maybe that's all it is, yeah. I tried to watch it as a kid, but my mom was super against it. Since she didn't watch my computer I kinda grew up on internet humor instead, so maybe it's just warped me beyond repair.
I liked 2 or 3 of the older ones, ok, better than the later ones, with a handful of those subtle things. Maybe there's more I missed.
To clarify, I didn't even try the newest shit. That'd probably make my brain explode.

the arlong park arc. But yeah the fishman island arc was just an arc to show how sick and strong everyone became. I think the next arc he does some sick shit.

I took a break a little after that, but yeah. Just posing, weird screens of mystical creatures, then a single sword swing, flowing energy and the other dude is defeated.
I recently watched some old One Pieces, and my jaw hit the floor. His old fights were so much more awesome, it's unbelievable.
Also, fishmen arc gets too much hate. It's not one of the best, but I like it. The badguys could be a little more interesting, but there lack of personality was was kind of the point.
Hopefully you'll find some enjoyment from books 1 and 2 before you Platinum it up.

Lol. Seriously though, Louie's one of the best shows I've watched in years. CK's standup is great too. Psych is pretty enjoyably silly if not outright LOL funny. Movies... I'm having a hard time thinking of any offhand.

The Simpsons shows had great subtle and funny writings, characters actually had some depth and it didnt take crazy leaps to reach a laugh in the early seasons.
The problem with the new stuff is that it's context is all dated, all the celebrities and all the current events humor only works for the moment and is easily forgot about very fast.
Whereas you watch a show like King of the Hill and you'll get that classic early simpsons type wit throughout the entire series. It was such an underrated show.

Holy fuck, Korra is only a 20 minute download on PS4 and its almost a 3 GB game. 300 megabytes on my PS3 takes me like 35 minutes.

Its not that I hated, its just that arc is the perfect example of the biggest flaw One Piece has, its pacing. That arc did not have to be anywhere near as long as it was. Cut out about 30 episodes and it would've been much more enjoyable. I understand not wanting to catch up with the manga, etc. but it was just sooooooo boring and nothing would happen for weeks at a time. I don't think I'd ever be able to seriously watch one piece airing just because of how horrible that experience would be. Its much more enjoyable to marathon.
Punk Hazard? I heard mixed things about it, but I'll get back into it when I'm in the mood for One Piece again.
