You're almost halfway through. lol Hang in there. But seriously it gets a bit more engaging after the second star.
Am I really halfway thru? I got a Pinocchio doll joining my party after beating a Googly eye skinny thing in a forest. Is this halfway?

Also I’m seeing some bugs. Sometimes the little exclamation mark that shows up when it’s the right time to block or to attack doesn’t show up at all so you’re stuck guessing.

Watching my kids play this and holy shit is the difficultly nerfed from when I was a kid. No fucking way did I whip through it the way they did and there is an easier mode on top of this?

Started this yesterday and played for like 3 hours.

Adorable. Looks so yummy on the Switch OLED. I just got Geno into the party and I’ve died a few times. I’ve heard people saying that they were breezing through the battles but it seems balanced to me. What are people using to destroy enemies quickly? Also, I avoid a lot of battles and I’m never sure if I should be grinding or not.

Pretty sure that’s intentional. It adjusts to your timing, so if you nail the parry-timing a few times it’ll disappear. And if you keep remembering the timing you’ll never see it again.

If you start to stumble again it’ll re-appear so that you’ll re-learn the correct timing.

Oh, I wish the game would’ve explained that so I wouldn’t think it was bugged

I realized when I played this I never finished the snes original. Guess the end game was tough for me. Now it's no problem. Very heart warming game, hope we get to see more of these characters.

Nothing is changed on the difficulty other than the timing attacks being more transparent and the perfect timing giving damage to every enemy. It's just an easy game honestly.

The addition of triple attacks alone makes the game easier. Its not apples to apples anymore.

Honestly the triple attacks are kind of ass, I didnt even bother to use the 99% of the time because waiting for the cutscene wasn't worth it.

But yeah I guess you're not wrong, the game is objectively easier with them in. I'd still say it's a minimal impact and it basically takes it from a 3 to a 2 on a 1-10 difficulty scale.

No, they dont, and you can skip the cut scene. There is even an item to load the tripple attack quickly.

Mario-Geno-Bowser have a pretty heavy triple attack with tons of damage.

Mario-Geno-Peach are too good with the barrier against Culex.

The post content after u beat the final boss is pretty neat, but i wish they have had implemented a new game+.

Just finished it. Fun, but brain-dead easy. No reason to use all but a few of the special moves, no reason to use frog coins (and only rarely normal coins). I did play this back in the day, but remembered it being somewhat challenging in parts. Maybe because I was 10 years old.

The original snes game is easy peasy as well. Nevertheless, one of the best snes games to date imho (i have the orignal snes card till this day).

so cheap in the remake, too? No save right before boss unless you go back to a previous save point, and completely unwinnable battles right off the bat if you don’t have the correct team. That’s a Square game, all right.

So many mini-games and skippable stuff, I didn’t even find Yo’ster Isle. Ain’t no time to explore every nook and cranny of a game this old and simple. It’s fine, but replaying it only cements my opinion that it was grossly overrated at release, and still is.

The remake was quite easy to finish, although that fight was one of the harder ones. They added autosave while going between locations, so in a sense it's easier as you don't have to replay larger chunks of game from last savepoint whenever you lose

In 1996 I got stuck at Rangers for a while. I remember having to do the sequence of chasing them up all the platforms in the volcano SO MANY TIMES. In the remake, I did die on my first encounter with them and had to do the sequence again. Same thing happened with the other boss, I had Peach in the slot that gets singled out to fight alone. But this 90's-Squareness of it was never something I'd dock points for, I actually like it and makes it even more unique today.

I really don't think this was overrated in 1996. Back then, the fact that it even had all these random weird sequences and mini-games in a JRPG represented a lot of extra work and unusual genre mash-up. Just having Mario be able to jump with platforms, except actually it's a RPG, remember this is the first time it ever happened lol. It was also a technical masterpiece. It's a SNES game!!

I didn't use any items either (other than syrups ofc) until post-game. Booster's Snifits got ice bombs in the face. Making me feel challenged like I'd even want to use an item is how I felt playing the original as a kid and I didn't get that back until post-game. I even feel like I cheated because I used items on a post-game boss like I still need to figure out how to do it "legit". NOW THATS A GAME

The game is overall way easier when you add up all the changes. Not only do you get triple attacks and added timed hit damage, but in order to defeat you the enemy has to kill your entire party of 5 instead of just 3. Where you would have lost in the old game, you can now just swap in another character and use them to revive someone. I actually LIKE these changes, but only in the context of having to think to use them in a more difficult game, like all the post-game content. For example I was micromanaging the shield triple move fighting Booster and Culex to protect my party when I knew 9999 damage was coming. I even had to micro and plan turns to swap and revive characters without simply dying again or making it worse. Also many situations where the timed hits weren't about a bonus to make it easier, it was do it perfect OR LOSE. If the entire game had been difficult enough to make managing these mechanics fun instead of just a crutch that makes an already easy game even easier and MORE simple, it would be perfect. Missed opportunity. It needs New Game+ at minimum but just adding a harder mode from the start would have been the best.

On the contrary, when I was young, I spent a crazy amount of time figuring out how to find the secrets like the casino and the Gameboy. Though nowadays, I have much less patience for that sort of thing.

Nah, eff the SNES version. The castle at the end is annoying enough with its ridiculously finicky platforming, but throwing two boss battles like those at you back-to-back is stupid. First one can one-shot any character with ease and the second has multiple attacks. The final part of the game turns into a dumb guessing game where if you don’t pick exactly the right party the bosses waste no time fucking you up the arse. I finished the game so many years ago, so I must have followed a FAQ and overleveled a ton before the final stretch. At level 18 my party is getting brutalized and I’m out of patience. This was fun for a while, but the main quest has all the kinks of the classic SNES JRPG and then some

It's not that good a game no. Mallow has a character and development and Geno has nothing yet people want Geno in Smash? Lmao.

Just finished it, great game. Wasn't as amazing as I remember but I had a good time. A little on the easy side.

There are 3 levels of sequel hint:

1- no hint
2- an ambiguous hint which may be read as a hint at a sequel or not.
3- a promise

Post Culex 3d is an example of 2. It may be taken as a hint, which may turn out untrue. But it cannot yet be dismissed as not a hint, because of its ambiguity.

In your case, you have not read what he said correctly.
