I should really stop trying to challenge the global leaderboards. Besides it being flaky one what time it records, besides the hacked and bugged times, and besides the avalanche of boring Steve times I just realized something else. People are abusing the hit detection. If the game isn't running at 60 fps on a 60 Hz monitor strange things can happen, like falling through floors and walls and hazards. Looking at some scores you can notice people have intentionally made their game run poorly and repeatedly do runs on the off chance they get it to glitch in their favor. Worst part about it, you can't really prove a time was gotten this way because theres no replays. Bugged 0.00 times and hacked times can be removed but this? Nothing can really be done.

The downside of PC Gaming is it can never be as neat and as controlled as consoles. But oh well. I could always just compete with gaffers. The least I could do is ruin MNC's day.:D

What makes you think that, exactly? As many complaints as I have about this game (and it's more than a few), I don't know if I buy this one.

Just completed World 4 light levels. I've been going for A+ in the light and dark levels as I play. Missing plenty of bandages.

Love the game. GOTY contender for me easily. Going to try for 100%, still have plenty to do it seems. :D Been playing with the DS3 all day, my hands still get a bit cramped but I'm not sure that is avoidable with this game. More comfortable over time than the CCPro or Wiimote was (though normally both of those are comfortable for me).

In Hell practically every time I'm riding a moving platform I die for no reason anyone know what's up with that?
Just had this happen to me a few times as well. Not sure what the cause is.

Theres a few leaderboards and a recurring theme. I'll describe a few and you could check for yourself if you don't believe me.

2-4X Blown: It's a stage where you are suppose to ride fan winds up to Bandage girl. The #1 time is 2.32s done with Captain Viridian. What happens with Captain Viridian on that stage is that you reverse gravity and simply fall up there. It takes roughly 2 and a half seconds just to fall that distance, not giving you time to land underneath Bandage Girl's platform, reorientate yourself rightside up and work your way around actually to bandage girl. The platform she is on is a good 5 tiles wide so it is impossible to simply wrap around to bandage girl while falling. You must stop and reorientate yourself. This shows in the leaderboards by the next closest leaderboard time being roughly 6 seconds with the same characte, taking 4 seconds to work their way around. The only possible explanation for 2.32 seconds is he simply fell straight through the platform directly into Bandage Girl.

3-13X Black Circle: This is a stage where there is 4 saws going around in a circle with you trapped inbetween two of them. You must keep up without going too fast or too slow and there is no opportunity's to shortcut your way around until there is a gap in the wall. If you check the times most of the top records are Steve because he can simply break the walls and shortcut that way. There is however a few records with Naija. Naija has the fastest burst of speed in this game and is the best for going through solid walls when hit detection fails. Naija has a record of 4 seconds when it takes the game at least 12 seconds for the saws to move to a gap in the wall. Really, the only explanation is Naija went through the saws and walls and this had to be done intentionally as there are multiple Naija records on there.

4-1X: Just play this stage and check the leaderboards, I can't even begin to describe this one. The same person who has the fastest Naija record in Black Circle also has it on this stage. He beat the stage in 4 seconds which if you know this stage it is absolutely impossible unless you were going straight through the walls.

And trust me, there is no shortage of examples for me to pick on.

Yes. You have tested to make sure it works already on your PC though, right, I think the PS3 version doesn't work on all computers. 360 version would have no problems though.

stick works great with everything I've used it for, but I don't want to double dip if this isn't going to work as meatboy with a keyboard would be about as enjoyable as stapling your balls to something.

Yeah, I did some research and there is definitely a bug at least with Naija where you can clip through most any wall. Guess I should not be that surprised with how jank the engine has proven to be. I hope they clean this up sometime soon.

sounds like the xbox version is a lot more polished. with the 1 bug that made it through which is hopefully fixed soon, I think I'll just stick with it and beat it 100%

might pick it up on steam later during a sale and try the extra achievements.

Team Meat's twitter mentioned they've made achievement images for Iron Man runs of the Dark Worlds.

that shit is mental, however, doing these is completely possible I think. It's weird how much better you get at meatboy if you go back for a second run at some of the levels that were previously 'impossible'

Also encountered something I don't think I had seen before, on a level with a bandage on it that I don't previously remember getting, it's marked on the map as having the bandage. This is probably the glitch (360) but the thing is, it's such a fucking hard bandage to get (in hell with the laser eyes) that I don't think I ever got it in the first place. Weird.

Yeah, that's because it really more like a puzzle game, IMO most of the levels are more about knowing what to do, than the execution.

well, execution is really really important, but you can sort of trial/error and rhythm game your way through it.

Leaderboards haven been fixed! When ranking for friends, you see their global position, and they're sorted by time for friends. :D Awesome.

That's true but it's still possible to have a secure leaderboard. See: Trackmania

A developer who cares about such a thing could look into validating replay files before accepting the score.

Well, the truth of it is that the issues with the framerate effecting the timings and/or hit detection are really not the fault of the PC platform itself. That is something they really need to sort out at some point, as it is a straight up code issue.

Not sure if it has been mentioned or not but Super Meat Boy is 800 pts at Gamestop. I was setting up the new DLC section and the cards for it are $9.99. Emailed them and they came back saying its not an error!

have they fixed the dying bug when you stand on the moving platforms in hell yet? I'm pretty much waiting for that before I play it again :/

Did the save bug get fixed yet? For the 360 version? I bought the game but have been holding off on playing it for a while.

Thanks fellas.

This is going to be the boxart for the boxed version of SMB, seriously:

Yeah, yesterday there were a couple of band-aids that I though I would never be able to catch ... today I got them, after a few tries.

Is that image the Wii version? I heard they were going for retail instead if Wiiware.

Damn it! I was debating about waiting for the wii version, but I bought the pc version instead, and have had a bunch of issues with bugs, lag, and controls. Now it's getting an awesome cover too? Auughgghgguhgg :'( I should have kept waiting!

Just FYI the game is still 10 bucks at Gamestop if you buy it on one of those cards with the code to download the game on it

This is the PC special edition cover. Not sure if it's the Wii one.

Still not fixed. I've gotten murked by that bug like five times now, but I always just replay the levels =/

Speed run question: Anybody figure out how people are doing stuff like this?

Basically, you can accelerate yourself on a respawn if you fly off the screen, but this level doesn't have any place for Alien Hominid to shoot up off the screen. There are a few guys on the leaderboards with similar times to his, so I know other people have figured out the trick; anyone here?

I know the same trick has been duped on other levels as well. Basically, people getting "impossible" times on levels where you have to go up high very quickly.

I unlocked The Kid earlier today and got the achievement, then tried him out on level 1-1. Just entered the game and now he is gone.

I'm going to have to play those levels again, aren't I. :(

If it makes you feel any better, I played The Kid a 2nd time (just for fun/showing off to friends) and I cleared it wayyy faster that time (<20 minutes). 1st Stage is still the hardest.

. . . still really hope the save bug gets fixed soon for 360.

Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but controller talk has been more frequent with this game.

For some reason, whenever I install the DS3Tool I am unable to hook up other Blutooth devices to my computer (like my Classic Controller via Glovepie). If I try to start blutooth manually my computer doesn't do anything, and the blutooth device menu says to check my hardware.

My DS3 becomes the only thing I can use with blutooth. I can fix this by using system restore to a date before I installed the DS3Tool, but I would like to be able to switch controllers whenever without doing this.

Anyone have an idea why the DS3Tool has a monopoly on my Blutooth usage?
EDIT: Reinstalling Blutooth helped somewhat. I can now have my Wiimote/Classic Controoler hooked up via blutooth, but can't use blutooth with my DS3 (I can use it via USB though).

They've done it.

They've really done it.

Dark World Iron Man achievements are IN! By the looks of it, several new hidden achievements as well. They might be bugged right now, I'm pretty sure it should've given me my Dark World 1 achievement.

So i was playing some SMB today.. and as i've taken the 15th bandage and(at the same time, funny enough) did the last A+ on the forest(dark world, already did all the normal A+ in the forest yesterday) the game said something like "you have unlocked something that was locked" but i can't see anything new, nor i have enough bandages for the next character.
What's that?

I unlocked the glitch stage on world 3 today and died.

Then it didn't stay unlocked.

Xbox 360 version.

WTF

I've played (and failed) glitch levels before and they haven't stayed unlocked. Where on the map do they appear?

the first one, in the forest, have a yellow square, on the mapscreen.

Just unlocked that Aquaria character, very strange. Seems like she'd definitely be faster than Meat Boy on some stages, and very hard to use on others. I'm happy just sticking to Meaty with the occasional Ogmo for some bandages.

Man, the 3 lives in the first glitch level(forest) are such bullshit.
There's only one level and you can try as much as you want, so they have no purpose, other than waste your time between one try and the other, which defeat one of the best things about SMB, istant respawn.
