It really wouldn't surprise me if the retweet was requested by Sakurai to help the internal misdirection campaign, and this was all in an attempt to figure out who was leaking to the media.

Judging by her moves shown you're probably right, imo but I'm happy she's in! By doing this they probably saved themselves for trying to create another set of customizable moves.

Rhythm Heaven. Also, I'd say being an AT gives Ashley less of a chance of ever being playable.
 
I wonder why Lucina has a "?!" after her tagline? It seemed like at first Sakurai might've been trying to fake us out, but then she's playable. Is he like, acknowledging that she's a clone or what?

You sure are reaching... Maybe they used the smaller size box for her so that all of the new characters would fit on the top row. Simpler explanations are usually the more correct ones.

I think it's more like, "She's playable, but not Chrom?!"

Because in the context of the trailer, she was getting her ass kicked by Falcon.
 
Man I can't believe Sakurai did all this to reveal Captain Falcon. Nice to see he added some newcomers into his reveal trailer also

A few ways to take it:
"Not Shulk?"
"Not Chrom?"
"But she's a clone?"
"But she's an alternate costume?"
"But she doesn't stand a chance against Falcon?"

That is true, I was initially using that as an argument that Lucina is her own separate character (it could also be that she has a smaller box and no art cause she shared her trailer with Robin) Although a friend pointed that if Lucina is an alt, then it would be the first alt to be an actual different character (as opposed to variations of one) So we have no precedent for knowing how it'd be treated in the official smash site.

I can see both arguments making lots of sense, we just have to wait for clarification.

Are you still pushing this "She's an alt BS." Even though you have been proven wrong multiple times?
 
It's also worth noting that Sakurai introduced Robin and Captain Falcon on Miiverse, but he hasn't mentioned Lucina yet.

Well it seems like she a complete clone of Marth and it's possible that Ryce is right about her being selectable under Marth. It's different from what we've had before. Dark Pit is basically confirmed to get similar treatment after the tease in Palutena's trailer.

Although, perhaps I'm assuming too much from the small video and she's actually a semi-clone like Roy or Toon Link. Hopefully, Sakurai clears things up this week.

That's the more complex explanation in this case lol. Simpler explination says that she's not a legit newcomer.
 
Damn that's a lot of FE characters. Robin is an out-of-nowhere announcement that makes me still hope for a Krystal announcement. Neeeed dat staff combat.

This game's roster is going to be absolutely packed at this point, damn...
 
Pretty sure Lucina is a selecteable appearance for Marth. The only reason she has her own tile on the site it's because... well she's a different person from everyone else. But I don't count on her havin a slot on the select screen character. I assume Sakurai will confirm it this week.

I believe that's the most logical thing, and opens the doors to having lots of interesting characters without having to deal with balancing.
 
It's 2am and I should be sleeping, but I just can't stop watching that pretty trailer... okay I think I'm done, my body can't sustain this any longer.

One more thing! Every single potential newcomer has had people willing to argue to the death why they would obviously never make it to Smash, but I always felt that Robin's were more virulent than most. Where's your messiah now?
 
Does anyone have any theories as to why the Gematsu leaker thought Chrom was playable? I admit even after it was over I was looking for Chrom to have a character spot on the website. I thought he was playable with Robin, and Lucina. But then if the leaker ever got wind of this promotional trailer I wonder why he/she wouldn't be aware of Lucina or Robin?
 
Just so everyone is on the same page and so I can clear this hilarious misconception up, Lucina is her own seperate character. She's not selectable from Marth like the WiiFitTrainer/Villager/Robin.

They've never cared about clones having their own slots before. They are slots on a select screen, they don't mean anything. Rolling her into Marth's slot does nothing but confuse people who want to play as Lucina.

Best one I've heard is that all the leakers information is from the early stages of development (which there's a lot to support). Chrom would have been changed to Robin at some point.

I know one of the main reasons that she doesn't have a long banner is because she shares the same artwork as Robin there, but they could have just cropped the part that she appears in in the art to make a long banner work. Kind of a shame because the image is soooooo good.

Especially with the "every character has now its own slot" stance, shown with ZSS, Sheik and Charizard.
