Yeah, no download play according to the back of the download code box in japan.
The demo is for people who don't own smash
They can play w/ each other using 5 characters for 2 minutes on battlefield. Probably what download play would have been anyway.I'm pretty sure no download play was confirmed a long time ago.

Wasn't there a screen somewhere where it looked like you could play Download Play and the person downloading has to play as Mii Fighter?

Makai had a 60fps stream going on earlier on Hitbox but it doesn't look like they were archived for some reason. Don't know how Hitbox really works.

I'm worried he's going to turn out kind of like Zelda. Zelda has like three or four really good moves (not counting Down+B, lol) but the rest of her moveset is trash so you're going to find yourself relying on the same things over and over. There's only so many times you can use short hop Flame Sword before it gets super predictable.

I thought we had menu text about a multiplayer mode saying how you could "play with people who have copies of the game" or something like that, implying there might be an alternative? Or maybe I'm reading way too much into it.

Thank you, I appreciate that! I can think of a couple of people who might disagree with you about that, though.
I saw in your next post after this that you meant his Metal Blade is useless. Yeah, Mega Man's specials are easily the weakest part of his game. Only Crash Bomber (side B) has any real utility; Metal Blade comes out and flies too slowly to be useful, and it doesn't seem like anyone (myself) included has been able to find a use for Leaf Shield yet. I'm really hoping his alt specials are considerably better and stronger and give him more options! I'm especially interested to see how Plant Barrier and the third down special will differ from (and hopefully improve upon) Leaf Shield.

He definitely does, I can confirm that. He's fun to use and feels great, though!
I have no idea where that claim came from or how it started, but I can tell you definitively right here that we never said that and definitely don't know that to be the case.

And If I recall correctly, Brawl broke street date the day before release so if Smash 4 is going to break street date at all, and I'd be shocked if it didn't, then we should be getting details in the next couple hours.
It'd be amazing if somehow Nintendo kept Smash from hitting the streets before release, yet couldn't prevent the massive ESRB leaks a couple weeks ago. Difference between Nintendo of Japan and Nintendo of America I guess?

Crash bomb shouldn't transfer to other players, yeah it's fun or whatever in free for all but it's stupid in 1v1.
Leaf Shield should let you use other moves and stay up until you press downB again.
I don't think the endlag on his dair should be as massive as it is either.

Nope, talking about the Starman enemies in Smash Run. It says the starman can use PK beams

Yeah, it normally wouldn't be a problem... except stale move negation tries to encourage you to use all of your moves... but if they suck, that's not really an option. :/ Stale moves ends up hurting those characters more than anyone.
East coast, went to bed at 1:45 Am after playing the demo, woke up at 6 Am to go to work. So yeah, we don't sleep.

Also, Star Men from Mother are confirmed for Smash Run? That's neat, since it shows Sakurai is willing to use characters without 3D models already like the Devil Car as well. Wonder if anything from like WarioWare will be used.

The eShop updates tomorrow afternoon for EU/US (local time) so if it isn't released tomorrow, maybe next Thursday with an announcement on the stream.

Yeah, if someone has the game and is willing to share, they probably would do it first thing, for the attention/hype.
But I could imagine someone being afraid to post things for fear of Nintendo taking some kind of action (against them or more likely the store they got the game from).
