Just wondering and reading through a few pages today didn't give me the answer:
Are the controls customisable? The default set-up is pretty awful. I mean, jump and attack with the same finger? That just does not work.

L-jump masterrace.
Default Wiimote controls ftw.

In the final game, yes. In the demo, no.

Any details on what Link's improvements entail?
From what I've heard/remember:

-Boomerang is no longer ass
-Spin attack is more powerful. Not quite Melee levels but it you charge it a bit it should be good.
-Dash attack is his jump attack which is a KO move.
-All his attacks are generally just faster and stronger.
-He has a lot less landing lag.
-Clawshot retracts quicker.
-He has the dair meteor (which I've yet to see anyone use but apparently it's there)
-His back roll is now a backflip and it's much faster
-Can tether from really far away.
 
Better dash attack, better back roll, better vertical distance on his up b, tethering distance is huge (but maybe not as big as E3?). Even though I main link, I don't know all the technical details, but I do know his 'game feel' is much better. He just feels more responsive, not as much ending lag on some moves. N-air/back air are also fantastic now. Barely any startup lag on them, and no landing lag on them.

So Mega Man seems to have a high learning curve.

Yeah, he's so inherently different from anyone else that it's impossible to tell if he's bad or has a really high learning curve just yet. It's gonna take a lot of people trying to figure him out before something comes about. Villager is kinda weird, too.

Out of all the 1v1 Lvl 9 CPU matches I did, i had the hardest time against villager. His AI was programmed to dodge A LOT. He was dodging me left and right, whereas most other opponent did not seem to be as good as him. I'd still almost always win, but he was the toughest AI of the lot, I thought.

Mega Man can break out of combos at low % with Up B... :(

Definitely needs to get patched because no one else in the demo can do that. Seems the dev. team forgot to set a flag or a check with Mega Man's Up B for weak hitstun (as in, he should be unable to do that).
 
i think i'm going crazy because i can't hear anything but "nana! popo!" for villager's crowd chant. like it doesn't even sound like "murabito" at all!

Being up in the air should make him pretty vulnerable though.

Can double jump after the up b? And I assume he can only up b again after getting hit?

Sound about right. His boomerang IS really good now. Only does tornado on the way back.

It could be intentional, since Rush is "helping" him.

Yeah, I wonder if sonic can do the same thing.

That's... uh... interesting. Most games basically give you the one option of 'open lobby and have people join.' I mean, at home, and for 99% of consumers the 'with anyone' thing works, at least for local multiplayer. The other 2 are really only good in crowded areas, which I suspect is more common in japan.

I wonder if there will be a 'people you know' option for online? I assume not, right? Friends/anyone only, right?

It's a rumor. I'm pretty sure this was discussed in the last thread too and was thrown away just because it was unfounded and there was no proof.

That and gamexplain outright denied it. I think next thursday is probably the best day to release it. Obviously, everyone wants it asap, but it might take away from the thunder of the treehouse friday. Treehouse would be a perfect place to say "thanks for watching, you can now go and download the demo! Have fun!" but of course that would never happen.

Well, with tap jump on it will take away your jump anyway. And yeah, you could only Up B again if you got hit. Also, you still have the air dodge so... it's not like you're completely vulnerable.

Sonic will probably be able to do that too then, right?

Not necessarily. Even though their Up Bs are similar, it doesn't mean that Sonic's would work the same with weak hitstun. If they checked things off properly for Sonic then he shouldn't be able to Up B out of weak hitstun -- after all, he couldn't in Brawl so it should be the same here.

I guess we'll find out soon enough but I'm pretty certain because Sonic's a vet they wouldn't miss that while because Mega Man's a new character it's possible they just never tried to Up B during weak hitstun with him, assuming they got things right already for him.

If Nintendo wants to keep maximum hype rolling, the best thing to do is wait on a US demo release. The JP retail will carry hype for at least a week or two. The US demo should be released somewhere between JP retail and US release to peak interest. Likely, a week before the US release is the optimal time.
 
The lack of a subtitle for this thread better be a stealth pun about Super Smash Bros 4 not having a subtitle...

Sad we didn't get "I'm Really Feeling It!" or "I'm Ridley Feeling It!" :(

Demo is like 1000 blocks, it's tiny - about 125 megs, 1/20th the size of the final game. I doubt there's any real data to mine. I guess it could have a LIST of character/stage names, but no one has been able to grab anything yet. By the time they do, everything will have leaked anyway.



Has anyone translated the bonuses at the end of the match? They don't seem to have point scores associated with them anymore, just 'number of times' said thing happened.

That demo was the perfect fuel for the Hype Train that is these threads.
 
That menu music is making my hairs stand on end. So excited to play this. I really hope EU gets the demo soon so it makes the gap between international releases more bearable.

Knowing Nintendo, the English demo wont be out until the actual game has released. I would love to be wrong, not just by a day or two, though.
