Super Smash Bros. for Wii U |OT2| Only Game Where You Can Beat Up The Duck Hunt Dog

Haha, despite the cost I can tell you the experience is worth it, unless you really have issues managing finances. :(

I can't see the picture, what is it? :O
Logos for Melee, Xrd, P4:A, and Donkey Kong Country 2.

Lol.

(Joke is that Smash 4, at the moment, is considered to be largely dominated by Diddy. It's like using a 'Fox only' cover in place of the Melee logo.)

The runoff dair would be some kind of Bizzarro Flame style move... my body isn't ready for that kind of commitment yet.

Ha I think you missed the point of that video, after I died to DK I intentionally decided to side-b him as much as possible, regardless of move staling. Like I said in an earlier post, there's something to be said for the humiliation and temporary loss of player control rattling an opponent. Part of why I say the guy was an alright player, but it not looking like that, is that he obviously got pretty flustered by this.

Actually I've had some problems attacking people who linger on the edge (ex: Villager trolling). Assuming they've sweetspotted the ledge, even when their invincibility is over dtilt won't hit them. Flamethrower won't hit them either unless I'm standing right on top of them. I've seen the end of fsmash hit ledge hangers-on, but the beginning of that animation is the universal "get up off the ledge to punish me" signal.

Also, from Bowser to Bowser, can I just complain about how every once in a while, people just get out of fortress after getting caught in it for no apparent reason? Wonder if they're smash DI'ing out, or just lucky...
I try to gimp with Dair sometimes, but it only lands infrequently. I do it if I am up a stock so I can take the loss when I screw up. :p

Fortress does drop sometimes, and it has to do with the random tripping occurring at just the wrong time. I am not a fan of Fortress tripping. Rarely pays off, but causes a lot of problems.

But there's only two good Diddy's lol. :p
Don't Zero, M2K, Leffen, Vinnie, Jtails all play him? :p

But yeah, it's the stereotype, maybe not the truth. Most grand finals I've seen lately have had a Diddy, but I haven't been watching closely. Just seems like it's the bandwagon people are jumping on these days.
Nice, can't wait to watch Smash Wii U at Evo. :)

Gotta love the immaturity of that above image with the DKC 2 logo, though. Never change, Smash community.
I don't think it's that big a deal. No worse than this or this. It's just making fun of strong characters. Every game has 'em.

Rather than a battlefield only stages toggle, how would you feel about smashville only toggle? Smashville seems more loved to me by tournament goers than battlefield.

I kind of wish they would change the fire emblem coliseum stage to remove the walk offs. I like to fight there more on 1v1.
I think the idea behind "Battlefield only" is stages will keep their platforms but have no hazards, e.g. Smashville qualifies.

In the ranbats, you mean? I gave a list and asked what should be added to it. No one brought it up. /shrug
I believe they were unhappy that the stage was said to be worth practicing on for tournaments, unrelated to Ranbats.

Yeah, you're right. There's just been a strong anti-Smash Wii U sentiment lately simply because of Diddy and it's a little grating! But you make a perfectly valid point.

Depending on the results of Apex there may be more talk about banning Diddy. Smash 4 already has a lot to overcome within the competitive smash community given its lack of advanced tech a la Melee. A lot of the Melee community considers it boring to watch... and when Diddy is fighting, it's true. Since Smash 4 came out I've watched a lot of tournament videos on youtube, and at this point if there's a Diddy I don't bother watching. Without getting into his mechanics, there just isn't room for creativity or interesting play. If you're playing Diddy, you're doing the same setups as every other Diddy. The only difference is how efficient you are at it. Well, Mew2King showed what it looked like when done extremely well at Paragon, and while it was nice to see his technical excellence, that finals fight is basically what we could all be watching for years, and no one wants to watch that.

Forgive me for a little bit of smashboards style posting here...

lmfao had an incredible online experience on team for glory.

me and 3 other strangers happened to have picked the same characters 4 times in a row. that led to nothing but goofing off and taunting. i had to add them all to my friends list for that. haha

Zero and M2K are all that matter, Vinnie's Diddy gets bodied by Kirby and he switches to Sheik, Leffen got bodied by Luigi multiple times, and Jtails who? :D

Fight me. :p

Sick of getting my ass handed to me in For Glory. I'm taking the disc out till I get my hands on a Pro Controller. Yes I'm totally blaming the gamepad.

Hey everybody! Ignoring the fact that it's nearly 3 am over here and I'm currently in a pool of self-hate because why the fuck am I not sleeping fuck you brain you piece of shit, I thought I'd share stuffs with you guys! :D

A while back I made a survey for shits and giggles so I could learn things from anonymous SmashGAF people, and see what my Smash background is like compared to you guys. I'm sure only 8 of you remember a survey even exists, so for those of you who care here's some results.

1.) I feel really fucking young now, fuck me. Are 80% of you guys in your 20s or something? No wonder I lose to some of you... oh well. :3

2.) At least I can revel in the knowledge that I'm a certified member of the 15 years club with fellow GAF friends. For the most part, if it wasn't 64 that people started with, it was Melee.

3.) Ok you guys played everything except PM and PlayStation All-Stars, woo.

4.) Everyone here loves Sm4sh. No shit.

5.) You guys know what Project M is. No shit.

6.) People love to compete, so there's that. I noticed some people showing off their win rate in For Glory, but for all I know you were just looking for little kids to wreck. >>;;;

7.) Shamrock what's your tag because I swear you're the only one here who legit competes in sm4sh tourneys wtf dude

8.) Whoever kept using flowery language to refer to Peach as their main, you scare me deeply.

Overall...well, it didn't really matter much, but I had fun reading those responses. :) Thanks to whoever took the time to answer my ridiculous survey, and hopefully if I ever decide to make another it'll be better written or some shit I don't know, fuck I'm tired.

Well, it works both ways my friend: you saying you're 15 conversely makes me (currently 25) feel super-old, lol. Get some sleep! ;P

The tweet responses to the Smash 4 EVO announcement are just terrible, Melee fans are so sad.

Only 15? =O You're just a babi

Hah, and people said only Smash 4 would be at EVO, yeah right.

If it was only Smash 4 they wouldn't get nearly as many viewers. Smash 4 just isn't as hype at the moment, whereas the recent Paragon tournament had some of the most intense shit for Melee I'd watched in a long time (and 5x the viewers fro GF compared to Smash 4 I think?).

mayflash wired gamecube adapter shipped from Play-Asia :D

I am turning 30 this month.

Oh hey, does the Wii U Pro Controller have any latency due to being wireless? I got one for Hyrule Warriors, and I want to try it for Smash.

I have noticed slight latency with the wireless control methods when playing in certain situations, happened at my mothers house, but didn't notice it at another. YMMV

I stick with wired GC pad for that reason.

Hi everyone,

My local library is hosting an adult (18 and over) Smash tournament in about three weeks and I wanna play. I'm by no means a competitive Smash player, and I don't anticipate winning (or coming close) but I at least wanna hold my own and have some fun.

Are there any general guides that you might recommend? I main mostly with Ness, so a Ness-specific guide wouldn't hurt either. I watched some tutorials explaining some basics, but I still am 50% skill/50% luck (I'm not button mashing, but I'm not executing masterful counters and what not).

I don't have internet access at home, so it's mostly just gonna be me trying to hone my skills against the CPU.

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you can follow the trip you can probably get a free dropkick or a yolo Bowser Bomb if you react fast enough.

Or just another fortress or Jab Trap.

Lol, why is there an age limit? Do they consider the tournament to be gambling or something? 0_o Normally I only see the restriction when tournaments are in a bar or casino or something. Strange.

It sounds like you already have a lot of the right mindset down: don't expect to win (not to say you can't, I don't know how good you are). Go there to learn and to have fun. Ask people for advice, make friends, and play as many matches as you can get a chance to.
