I just got around to uploading the worst thing that happened yesterday in gfycat form - the Lylat Bowser fortress bullshittery. Just look at that shit. The stage killed me, I had too much leftwards momentum to save myself. You cannot fall off a platform with fortress normally. How can their implementation of the shifting stage be such shit? How can this stage be considered legal or in some cases a "neutral" stage? Why is this stage not banned? Goddamnit this pissed me off.

This was my favorite match from last night's fights

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwzkXXDfWgc

His dongness escapes me :(

K. I am way behind and need to get caught up myself. Bloodborne sucked up my week (10/10 game).

Record your matches against Beef for me.

Ha will see what I can do.

I'll be free Tuesday evening and all day Wednesday.

CA timezone, of course.

Will catch up with you then, probably Wednesday is what it's looking like...

btw: what's the "best" way to unlock custom moves?
I'm doing crazy hand orders, but I don't know if its the best way

If you don't have a turbo controller, crazy orders can get you a good number of customs assuming you have equipment that sets up your character with a home run bat. For maximum safety, having 2 other equipments that lower the bat charge-up time and regenerate health or the first hit one that gives you some seconds of invulnerability if you deliver the first hit of the match.

Depends what you're trying for. If you're trying to unlock a specific character's customs, the Ganondorf target blast trick works best even without a turbo controller. Turbo controller Ganondorf target blast farming is the best automated method at the moment.

Turbo Ganondorf is at work on 3 consoles in my apartment as I type this.

Being a Smash TO is something else.

Also shout-outs to Gamestop for the 7-day return policy on these controllers.

Ha I hope for your sake that you unlock them all in 7 days... it's very likely that won't be enough time. But that's why there's multiple Gamestops I suppose.

i simply cannot play the 3ds version of smash anymore. it just leads to frustration. i can never win online, sometimes ill go 3 or 4 matches(in a row) without even getting a single kill  wii u is better for me, i win more often and less spammers from my experience.

Personally I found the 3ds easier than the Wii U.

As for dealing with spammers, my basic mindset is that if I don't know how to deal with them, then it's my fault. Many times I eventually figured out a counter and wrecked the spammer in another match later.

I've decided to try playing Smash 64 competitively, see if I have fun with that like I do with PM. :) Anyone here also play it?

Oh, and if anyone else can record matches with other GAF friends I encourage you to do so and upload them so we can all review together!

Anyone seen the "leak" Mewtwo and Nintendo Direct?

Any credibility?

For those who are lost on this, this is what he's talking about. I won't believe it unless we get an announcement tomorrow at the latest. The details do seem credible, and not very-wishlist like except for the dream Paper Mario game and Star Fox feat. Platinum Games. What excites me the most, however:

Super Smash Bros. 64 for Wii U VC

Ignoring that these details are Europe-centric, I can't wait for this and I wouldn't care at all about the rest of the direct if we just got this. :D

Regarding the GAF Doubles Friendly:

As of right now, we have 6 registered teams and 3-4 leftover folks, which should make for a nice and even 8. If people would still like to register, you may do so by filling out the form at the end of this paragraph, available by quoting this post...

The single entries who do not currently have a partner or have not confirmed their partner with me are:
  • SoldnerKei
  • Masked Man
  • CureVylash
I ask that you all PM me concerning whether you'd be willing to team with another single entry, whether you have indeed found a partner, or would choose to drop out from concern of being unable to complete tournament matches in a timely manner.

For the other guys (that's 12 people, pretty good for a niche category), I'll be making the bracket public on Friday for all to see. I'd suggest that you all do what you can to ensure connection is smooth in preparation for the actual tournament. Given how small the tournament is (it's a friendly so whatever), I'm going to give players a maximum of 2 weeks to complete their match for each round. If anyone has questions regarding rules or whatever, feel free to PM me.

Now that I've done that, back to 64 I go. :3

So I've got a friend who's into Smash, but is as so many of us are, not actually particularly good at it. For reference, whenever me and him play 1 on 1, it's... pretty one sided in my favor. I mentioned how I had asked you guys for help in dissecting what I do, to come up with better strategies or tips, and he's interested. He mains Megaman, which I know is not the ideal starter character for trying to break into the more competitive side of Smash, but if he uploads some Youtube videos, would you guys be able to give him some tips? He registered for a GAF account this morning, but who knows how long that'll take before he's activated.

I hope "new music" means actual new music and not just Sakurai pretending like Miiverse's remixes are "new music"

Like I want my DK Map screen, Mother Shop theme and Fountain of Dreams music back, thanks.

This is assuming that isn't just all made up.

OMG I need Fountain of Dreams back. Greatest theme in the series.

Also just found out about Ganon farming the customs. Good stuff, nice and easy to do at work, even without a turbo controller (and actually a bit faster since I can just skip ones that don't have a part)

It's all made up.

Eh, probably. But it's worth humoring. Like the Ganondorf Amiibo stuff in Hyrule Warriors needs to be gauntlets that make Ganondorf use his Smash Bros moves in Hyrule Warriors. This needs to happen.

It's just a collection of vague stuff we already knew (like Mewtwo is soon), plus a bunch of rumors and other leaks (like Splatoon Amiibos, wave 5 Amiibos with Jiggly, Duck Hunt and Ganon, etc).

Worst comes to worst, we know if it's real or fake by tomorrow.

At a certain beginner level what's most important is mastering the fundamentals. Then getting a bit more complicated by looking into turn-around back airs, pivot grabs and character specific techniques. All while building good shielding/spot dodging and defensive reflexes, a lot of which has to do with matchup experience.

I'd find a video guide (perhaps someone can help me with whichever basics guide is considered best now), and work on fundamentals.

Watching good players gives you something to aim for, something I wish I had more of for Bowser... As a competitive viewer not paying that much attention to Mega Man vids, I've come across:

Kismet (ultra aggressive Mega Man player)
https://youtu.be/-u4UhbgICng
https://youtu.be/eGNu-a0NHJk

Zucco (more stylish Mega Man)
https://youtu.be/apqbqBDbGPo
https://youtu.be/8NRQHu23TU8

Ninjalink
https://youtu.be/DEYTgOTXn1I

There are other, probably better examples (and videos) too. Our own Tipster is very good, probably better than the best Mega Man player in my region's competitive scene.

Yeah sure, we're not above critiquing vids if it means helping others improve. :) Tell him to go for it!
Guys, nobody on 4chan would know about the details of a Nintendo direct.

The source doesn't appear to be from 4chan, but rather some Google Plus user under the name of Phoenix Wright. Of course, it's the most dubious source ever if you click on his profile and it's most likely fake given I see nothing else being a possible origin point.

But still, "BELIEVE" and all that, blah blah blah.

As a Mega Man main myself, watching Kismet play him is really inspiring. He's currently the best of all the high-profile Mega Man players IMO. His movement and spacing are just incredible, and he couldn't utilize Mega Man's regular buster shots more perfectly. Strange how he never use the Crash Bomber, though - that's one of Mega Man's best specials!

Either way, I've been doing pretty well with my Mega Man and I feel I'm decently good with him, but I'm of course nowhere near that level. Really amazing stuff.

Those commentators during Kismet's matches (especially the second one) were insufferable, though. They had so little to add and just went off on their own non-Smash-related tangents so often that they might as well not have even been there. I find that it's pretty hard to find Smash commentators who aren't insufferable, though...

Those conmentators really were the worst. They had no idea what was going on so that's why they couldn't comment the match well. When they tried it was no use.

Silly banter was distracting, but some of it was entretaining

Ganondorf already Warlock Punches his energy ball though.

Besides I highly doubt localizing Fatal Frame 5 is gonna happen.
