Nope. It's actually the opposite, it's because they do know what to do with makoto. Make no mistake, those segments in the vids are cherrypicked for his best ownages, but because he wins with mak doesn't mean the other person doesn't know the matchup. Makoto can put you into some scary situations defensively, despite what any "baww makoto is the worst in the game baww" people would like to tell you. For example: if you don't use karakusa on opponents much because the range on it sucks, play an opponent enough and you will condition them not to expect it. Mix it up every round here and there and what do you get? An opponent who second guesses what he should do when under pressure. That's where you get the hesitation, that's where vryu can shine with the dirty mixups. Nobody is a robot, nobody can automatically do and punish the right thing at the right time. Just because the player knows the punish doesn't mean it will come to the opponent's mind immediately.

Personally I feel that despite makoto's weaknesses, she at least has a strong area of expertise (damage/stun potential). If you know what she is good at you can at least work around it. Other characters in this game don't even have that luxury, some characters are just mediocre at everything. She is ass on wakeup but her offense actually poses a threat.

...and you also got players like vryu here continually coming up with creative setups...some characters have completely dead playerbases.

True he has mad skills, but he would do probably the same with any other character given enough time. Just has great execution, doesn't mean makoto will be a viable option competition wise, still fun to see her played interestingly!

Wow, his English is pretty good!
How much did he learn in 3 weeks?!

I spent a lot of time with GamerBee at Season's Beatings. What most people don't know is that his English was already impressive at that time (and at EVO most likely) and he can understand about 80% of the English spoken around him. It's not a matter of him improving English skills, it's the comfort level that has changed. He just feels a lot more comfortable speaking English now that he's spent a few weeks in USA. Anybody that has learned a foreign language should understand how important comfort level is in language fluency.

Pretty crazy.

For a fighting-game tournament, those are pretty good numbers. Too bad KSK's arcade is closing down.

What were the number for Evo 2010?

It's laughable that people would say Cammy's pressure game (mainly TKCS abusing) is too good with Rufus around. Hopefully, SCR will further demonstrate this.

Uh... better at mid range and better walk speed? I'm not saying one character is better than the other, but there are pretty obvious differences in their pressure game.

It's quite clear he was talking about dive kicks.

They're doing the money matches right now?

Yeah, but I don't think it's for our viewing pleasure. One condition of even getting inside the room is MM one of the international players. You can't be in there to just watch because of the lack of space. Hopefully someone is recording though so we can catch some of the action.

Super Street Fighter IV (Singles) - Top 8:
Winners - EMP Sanford - New York, IFC Yipes - New York, Viet - Austin, Adeel - Houston
Losers - JW - Dallas, Mike Weng - Arkansas, Adnan - Dallas, Joe Love - Dallas

Shout out to FMF and Joe. It sucks that the Emp had to come and ruin the mood.

Is there another major going in Texas, too? What a packed weekend.

Yeah, I guess Sanford and Yipes went for the easy fight money. :lol

The real reason is probably because EMP was going to Dallas anyway for MLG. But with the entire West Coast at SCR, and the few East Coast players who decided to go out at SFC, why not go?
