Are you going to the caucus training this weekend?

No, I'll be in Portland. I am going to the caucus with a group of lefty-libs for Bernie from the local coffee shop, and I have a basic understanding of the process. They said they'd help me out as well when we get there.

I actually have NEVER attended a caucus in my life, and I want to see what it's like.

The class and race issues are inseparable, like language and logic. Don't see how any wallstreet Democrat can fight for these things.

Hillary has become shame

*edit* accidentally double posted this

Killing Citizens United will be a nice start.

Or we can secure its place in legal doctrine for decades. No biggie.

I heard someone describe Hillary as someone who forces you to keep playing Monopoly, even though it's clear the game is over. I feel that is a perfect description.

Despite hating Trump, I think I'd be lying if I said I wanted him to lose the primary. Wouldn't it be for the best if he won if you want a Democrat in office?

I saw a Fox News video today saying that out of Rubio, Cruz, Kasich and Trump, their figures show Donald is the one most likely to lose against Hillary if he's picked as a nominee.

I'd much rather have someone devoid of charisma like Cruz win.

I feel like this is a similar sort of thing with how Bernie does better than Hillary in the national match ups
The bulk of this election cycle has focused on Hillary and Trump so people have already decided that they dont like them

Probably. I mostly vote republican but would probably vote hillary over trump. If i voted.

6 months ago i heard Trump had zero chance of getting the nomination at all

I feel like it's kind of going to be irrelevant come tonight (or the 15th). But we shall see.

I'm sure Cruz would only do worse once his campaign went national.

Is there any reason to believe this is any more realistic than the Republicans killing Roe v. Wade?
Easily. The Dems are much more competent than the GOP at picking SCOTUS justices who are ideologically predictable.

In fact, 538 looked into the observed behavior of judges and found that ideological drift to the left is a real thing.

Supreme Court Judges Get More Liberal As They Get Older

If "moderate/corporatist" Bill Clinton can pick liberal judges in the comparatively conservative climate of 1993, picking sufficiently liberal judges in 2017 should be easy.

Trump would be bad for them, but Cruz would be even worse, therefore more beneficial to a Democrat victory.

I just had a bizarre thought. Admitting up front this is really far fetched, but What if Trump is trying to get the extreme right to shift to the center. He talks about how he views everything in life within a deal making framework. Everything is a deal to him.

So him running for president could be considered a deal with the American people. So he starts off appealing to the most extreme people. Building rapport with them, making them feel like he's their other half, "someone who finally understands". Once they turn into sheep who bark at his command, he starts shifting back a little, saying you have to compromise to get things done, and touting all the reasons why this such a great outcome anyway, in hopes that all those followers latch onto it anyway.

Many of his followers like him "because he's a strong leader", which indirectly suggests that they are weak followers, and will latch onto whatever he says.

how many hours til we start hearing results?

Um, this will probably be Bernie after the night ends.

:(
It's a shame.
I just saw this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0kCDFxODx4

It's a damn shame. I still don't think Sanders fans should take it out on Hillary. Be mindful of history, but realize that she is just a symptom of a political system. Nobody gets to where Hillary is with being stupid. Let's just make sure that no Republican gets nominated.

Regardless, more outsourcing, global competitiveness, automation and worse and worse inequality is going to force the world to have this discussion again in 4 years. Bernie won't run again, but someone with his policies might.

How can my "girlfriend" vote Republican? Sort of makes me sick.

Christianity though. Anything to restrict gay rights.
Time to find a new girlfriend.

Just imagine marrying her and having kids with her. Would you want her to teach them how to be bigots?

The religion aspect is just an excuse tbh.

Just voted!

lol working.

My girlfriend voted republican. Those fucking Christian values. She's black too.

How about you talk to her about it and find out why she votes the way she does and respect her for it? If you don't then leave her, no reason to sling mud at her or her religious views.

Eh, honestly, and not trying to be disrespectful, that would be a red flag for me.

Bigotry isn't an attractive quality and could have an effect in a long term relationship.

Voting Bernie.

Looking forward to the swarm of smug passive aggressive condescension that will descend upon me like a thick soup of fog.

Voting Hil if she wins the nom. I'm not a fucking idiot, Bernie just represents my interests more. No way I'd ever not vote or vote a Repub if he drops out though.

Nobody reasonable will look down on you for this. I've done the same.

He just likes attention and wants to win. Do not give him more credit than he deserves, he's not playing some larger game here. Dude is just an egoist. You are creating a fantasy in your head.

It wouldn't be the first time this type of manipulation was done onto others.

"If you can control a man's thinking, you do not have to worry about his action. When you determine what a man shall think, you do not have to concern yourself about what he will do. If you make a man feel that he is inferior, you do not have to compel him to accept an inferior status, for he will seek it for himself. If you make a man think that he is justly an outcast, you do not have to order him to the back door, he will go without being told; and if there is no back door, his very nature will demand one." (Carter G. Woodson, son of African slaves, 1933)

This really sucks. I wanted to go caucus for Bernie here in Northern Colorado, but this week in "conference week" in my school district so I have to work until 8:00. The caucuses are of course at 6:30. Considering that school employees are fairly likely to caucus for Bernie, that's kind of a hit to him. Lame. The whole caucus system is stupid anyway.

Yes, he's def gonna do that. He wrote a paper describing what a Trump presidency looks like back in 1999. Very little has changed since then. Some things we might see in the ge, like his promising to be a 1 term president and other shenanigans. He also promised to slick back his hair to reveal his final form, like he's liquid snake or something.

The debates are going to be amazing.
