so, Bionic. What do you have to say about your racist franchise finally hiring a black head coach after 40+ years?
The franchise of Pittsburgh is very forward thinking in its hiring practices. Remember the "Rooney Rule"?

Just hope the Steelers get to play the Redskins next year. That way Taylor can bask in the glory of the Messiah.

why do the seattle insults strike such a nerve with you? arent you a carolina fan this week?
I'm no bandwagoner. Seattle was where I was born and raised, although I didn't take an interest in football till after I had moved to Charlotte(I was a Mariners fan as a little kid). For a while I tried to have it both ways(those who play madden know), and I got criticized for trying to have two teams*. Prior to this season I decided it really is best to drop one and stick with the other, and for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with the performance of either team(remember, Carolina was picked to go to the super bowl at the time).

Carolina is still my local team though, so even though I prefer to identify myself with Seattle, I get far more exposure on them.

[* Wellington particularly lamented how I got my way with a Carolina/Seattle NFC championship game, which I had been calling the "Hito Bowl" since the playoffs started.]

You know, if Peyton had gotten up at the podium after the game and said this stuff, I would actually not hate him anymore:

Hello! I'm Peyton Manning, quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts, and I have a special message for all of you out there that don't like me:

Go **** yourself.

**** you long and hard and with the depth of a thousand oceans. **** you sideways. **** you upside down. **** you hanging from a jungle gym. **** you in. **** you out. **** you with a snow shovel.

The #1 reason why the Colts have to win SB XLI:
So Jay Mariotti can die. Think of it; as soon as he starts with his "I told you this team stinks!" stuff if the Bears lose, the entire city of Chicago may finally be able to hunt him down and kill him.

Please, Colts, do it for us. The Mariotti haters.

He couldn't do that. Pussy.

Plus, he was too busy skinning babies to brew their skin into a soup.

Pure evil. And he's going to bring down the NFL if the Colts win the championship. Flag football rules when tackling quarterbacks all the way!

I can't believe people believe the Saints really should have beat the bears. I mean what questionable calls were there that people are pointing to? The saints were lucky to score the 14 points they got. The Colts had way more ref help than the Bears, but the Colts got it done. The Bears got it done. Live with it.

its funny because that troll Mariotti wrote a very positive peice on the Bears today

he can't have it both ways, either support the bears or stfu

he's such a flip flopper

The michael lewis fumble was pure BS plain and simple, and the block in the back call negating a return and some missed very blatant holds. With that said though we did not deserve to win that game nor did those missed penalties in any way cause us to lose the game.

I really balme Payton and despite his trend all season which was exploit a weakness, the bears weakness was the run, we averaged 5 yards per carry but for whatever reason we decided with a 1 to 5 run/pass ratio from the first play, which is just ridiculous. The Bears showed a suseptability to runs up the gut last week and at the end of the season and when we did it, it worked but stupidly opted to pass, honestlly it was Payton's worst called game.

With that said Turnovers killed us and the Bears were the better team.

The fumble that didn't happen, and the offensive pass interference that didn't happen. Both killed drives, one giving the Bears excellent field position that became a field goal. It could be argued that it helped needlessly tire out the Saints defense, too.

Again, I'm not saying it made the Saints lose, but it definitely didn't help them.

Yep. It was being mentioned here a bunch of times while the game was going on. Was really weird, especially given the weather and field conditions. The play calling that set up the safety was especially mind boggling.

the bears have been inconsistent against the run in a feast-or-famine type of way. either they are going to catch you in the backfield for a loss, or you're going to get big yardage. still, during the game it seemed like the bears d-line was just manhandling the saints o-line. but i don't understand why you don't at least TRY to pound mccalister given the weather conditions. i honestly believe if the game was played in new orleans the saints would have won the game. but that is why you play the regular season, to get homefield.

yes because deuce mcallister's 3.0 ypc was really killing us yesterday, i agree that sean payton called a bad game, he should have committed to the run more in my opinion, but hindsight is 20/20, he must have seen something in the film room or something to game plan like they did

its easy to be an armchair qb or coach

and the ball was coming out before his knee hit the ground on that kickoff fumble, so quit crying about that

It slipped before the knee hit, but he regained control, then it popped out.

if that was the case it would have been overturned, obviously the evidence wasnt conclusive enough to overturn it

at any rate you dont see sean payton crying about it after the game like mike holgrem :P

Haha, ok. Yet again, as shitty as it was, it wasn't the reason the Saints lost. It's just up there with that one ref call last year about a pass that was caught by a player who then ROLLED ON THE GROUND, then got up and had the ball come out. On the field it was ruled a fumble, after review, it was called an incomplete pass.

Great moments in NFL officiating.

39-14

Quit your whining. The game came down to the 4th quarter and the Bears annihilated the Saints. OGUN's sack and fumble recovery. Vasher's INT. The Bears oline blowing up the saints dline. Too bad the "feel good story" didn't happen, but hey the Cubs choked in the playoffs years ago too.

Yes, unlike some of their fans, the Bears didn't flake out. :P

Hahaha.

I can't believe some Saints fans are whining about being screwed a 39-14 beat down. This is almost as bad as when Wellington complained about my one accidental jump pass completion when I beat him 34-6 in Madden! ;)

Or somebody complaining about a last second deep TD! ;)

True, after the safety I think the Saints panicked a little. They pressed and forced things and the Bears made them pay. Game Over.

Speaking of whiners, Bill "The Imbecile" Simmons has just put up his Monday column wherein he bitches about The Hated Patriots blowing thier game so badly Yesterday.

Sorry Simmons, but that is indeed sour grapes. No really, it is.

Conviniently, from that wonderful link posted earlier...

**** you, Bill Simmons. Oh, you like the Manning Face? Is that the face I make when I **** your team like a convict fresh outta prison? Hope you liked it. And **** you, Boomer Esiason. Guess who's not his generation's Dan Marino anymore? Know who my generation's Boomer Esiason is? Jake ****ing Delhomme. So go get ****ed.

Good ole FMT

When the Bears lose, all we'll hear the following weeks is "Rabble! NFL conspiracy total! NFL Wanted the saints in the superbowl!". That plus "We were robbed by the refs! Saints had no business winning this game! RABBLE!!!!!!!!!!!"

lol come on man, holding can be called LITERALLY on 90% of the plays that happen in the NFL. the eagles had every chance in the world to stop reggie bush on that play. bitch was bunched up at the line and no one was in the right position to make the stop. boo hoo, a hold wasn't called. go watch any NFL game ever and see it happen there too.

one thing is for certain: if the bears lose, no matter under what circumstance, there's going to be some hardcore bitching by bears fans (not all) after the game

Your were close pal. :P

And to rekindle the Rex debate..
WTF? Who are these people and what are they doing in my football threads?

The Bears are a good team, but Grossman will be the worst qb of all time to win a Superbowl if he wins. On one hand that is a bad thing because it diminishes the importance of the position. On the other hand, it will give hope to shitty quarterbacks everywhere that if you just keep flinging shit downfield, if you are lucky enough, some of it will stick (and it helps to have a good defense too).

And honestly for people that compare Grossman to Dilfer and B. Johnson that is being very unfair to those two quarterbacks. Neither of those guys is a superstar qb, but they don't throw the kind of WTF kind of passes Grossman does all the time. If the Colts pussy defense can stop the Bears formidable rushing attack, it will be interesting to see how he holds up. And it will be even more interesting to see the reception he gets back home if he blows it.

Rex might not have have been great in the Saints game, but he was stellar. And in the Seahawks game mind you, when the defense wasn't playing out of their mind like they were yesterday, he had a big part in the Bears winning. 21/38 282yds, 1 TD/1 INT. Not to mention hitting a 30 yard strike to win us the game in OT and getting us to the NFC championship.

Nothing on the 6/6 drive was a fluke either as far as Rex's throws other than the huge catch by Berrian. He was starting to find his accuracy and get agressive as our running game began to get stuffed. He even said after the game he was trying to play too conservative and not make that big mistake. Which he never did, while still making plays in the game. 0 turnovers to 4 is also a big reason the Bears won. A couple of throwaways under pressure was the right thing to do. Nevermind the stats. We were winning and he had no reason to start trying to make all kinds of plays himself, until the running game was stopped and we needed to score points with a slim lead and the game winding down.

And "worst QB in superbowl history" is just dumb. Especially with the age and completed legacy of Dilfer and Brad Johnson. Grossman's still young and getting better.

Any Saints fan who is disgruntled is an IDIOT. Your team went from ZERO -- the laughing stock of the NFL for decades -- to the NFC Championship. Yeah, you lost -- but you know what? That was a hell of a season, a hell of a turnaround and you have a lot to be proud about.

I would just like to add in the second half, with the game on the line, Rex had a QB Rating of 105.

Say what you will about Rex hatAZ, but two weeks in a row he has come through in the clutch in playoff games. Not meaningless regular season games, but when the season is on the line, sexy comes through.

Well I figure I'll work there up until the Superbowl. So I have about 2 weeks left.

I'm also holding on to some false hope that maybe the manager will rehire me in a week or something. Probably won't happen, though =(

I did find out today that we use Boomer Esiason's barbeque sauce, though!

These are the moments when you remember, "Hey, it's really, really, REALLY hard to get a dynasty going." You need to keep replenishing the talent base, you need to replace character guys with more character guys, you need your core stars to stay healthy, and you need a ton of luck in close games. For further explanation, look at the Yankees during 2001-2006. That's why Belichick said about eight words to a quivering Solomon Wilcots after last night's game. He knows. You only get back so many times.)

Simmons is such a douche. I'm just annoyed with the 2nd line. It's what they did. They replaced plenty of people and did it well. You got 3 out of 4. WTF? Just be happy they are still in the hunt. ****er.

Actually i was more talking about Bush and his 5 ypc average and his seeming ability to always make a play when he touched the ball that game. Although with the carries deuce had his trend which is not uncommon as most RBs do it, they need to get into a rhythm and payton never let Deuce get into one he is a back that gets better the closer he gets to 25 carries.

I know it was resolved but in paytons press conference today he said initially he was pissed but let the Lewis thing go because the refs camera angles werent the ones on TV showing the knee and possesion, so yea it would have been ruled down.

Hitokage said:
So wait, why do tv viewers have a better system than the game's own refs?

i dont know but it kinda explains a lot of bullshit calls i saw never being overturned. i hope if payton is right and i dont see why he would be lied too, that this is addressed this offseason.

Rooting for the colts

unfortunately all the teams I rooted for in the championship games lost, so I may be bad luck
