I'm already dreading next weekend with no football. Gah, I hate the end of the season.

Totally agree with you. I go into a post NFL season depression after the Super Bowl. And NO, the Pro Bowl doesn't help. :lol

That's the name I've been hearing down here in Austin since early to mid-season when speculation was that Parcells wouldn't return.

I blame Sammy Sosa.

i'm conflicted here, because being from near chicago, i want to see the bears win, but if the colts win, that means manning is almost sure to be in more sweet commercials.

The best team is the one that wins.
Coaching can hold back even the best teams. Look to Marty for proof of this. He always coaches one of if not the best and balanced teams in football and somehow he ****s everything up and losses with a FG or late TD in the closing seconds.

And for Steeler fans, how do you all think Tomlin is going to play out as head coach? We definitely don't have the personnel for a 4-3 and won't for a few years so we will see right off the bat what kind of coach he is. If he tries and makes the Steelers into a 4-3 right away I don't think he is going to last very long.

The Bears are a talented team and there is a reason they made it to the Super Bowl. They played a great game against the Saints. I still think that 9 times out of 10 they would beat the Bears. It just so happened that they outplayed the Saints yesterday.

lol that rumor is bullshit. the raiders aren't giving up the #1 pick along with moss and porter to get vick. that would be the stupidest trade this side of cowboys/vikings herschel walker trade.
:lol Not ONLY first OVERALL and Moss, but Porter too...

i'd like w/e you're drinking

another reason why I will be rooting for the Colts at the Super Bowl. Fortunately they have a good shot given the weather conditions and the quarterback they have at the helm.

Football is not just about offense. The Saints definitely had a better offense than the Bears, but the Bears were more balanced and their defense made more big plays than St. Louis's whole team did.

I think the Bears were the better team (especially at home) and it showed.

On a side note, don't they teach players how to protect the ball anymore? There were like 10 fumbles in the two championship games yesterday.

My boss is a Cowboys fan, so to ease his pain I told him "hey, maybe they'll sign Oklahoma's head coach again."

"...Or re-hire Dave Campo."

Vick isn't going anywhere this year. If he doesn't show any progess this year though, I assume he will be shown the bench followed closely by the door.

"YEAAAAHH....Im going to have to go ahead and......disagree with you there."

I suggested that trade two seasons ago. For where both teams are, I think it would be perfect for both teams. Vick gets to play for someone(Al Davis) who loves the big arm, and doesn't give a **** how you act. The Falcons hand things off to Matt Schaub, and give him a legit #1 WR to work with, not to mention Moss is a draw thats up there with Michael Vick, and their salaries make the trade viable as well.

Uh oh, Tank Johnson might not be able to make the trip to Miami due to his legal troubles!

In case you were wondering, Bears defensive lineman Tank Johnson won't have to worry about a judge slowing his rush to Miami.

Johnson, who is required to stay in his home when he's not at work, will be allowed to travel out of state for the Super Bowl.

Slight aside I knew Parcells was gonna retired, he just looked SO tired on the sidelines this year....

Don't worry, Manning will be in plenty of commercials whether he wins or not, for a long long time.

Why would Al Davis want Vick when we have Andrew Walter a.k.a. QUARTERBACK OF THE FUTURE?

from the perspective of "shaub in as falcons QB, vick fits with the raiders" i don't disagree with you. the problems lies in a few places:

1. the cap hit the falcons would take from cutting or trading vick is astronomical. if they trade or cut him before june 2 this year, the cap hit is in the range of 14 million for this year, with appox 10 million in dead money next year

2. the raiders can't afford to take on vicks contract without doing some HEAVY renegotiations with players currently on the team

3. the raiders aren't stupid enough to trade moss, porter, the #1 pick AND take on that contract

4. what is vick going to do for the raiders? they aren't going to magically be a playoff team. vick isn't the type of player who will single handedly win games week to week. the raiders have bigger problems on their team than QB (o-line, receivers, RB)

so for all those reasons and more, this wont happen.

Was just reading an article about how Tomlin should be keeping LeBeau:

If they do switch defenses, I bet it'll happen slowly. As for how Tomlin will fair, who knows. Guess I'll just have to trust the Rooney judgment. There's decades of winning to live up to.

Tomlin has the benefit of inheriting an awesome team so he doesn't have to worry that much about personnel.

I will be happy if LeBeau stays for a little while longer until they draft enough personnel to change to a 4-3 (if that is what they are doing).

What is the Ravens base defense anyways? Aren't they a 4-3 in their base package?

I really want to see how Tomlin can manage the game. That was never a strong point of Cowher.

I agree. The Bears definitely have a better defense than the Saints did especially at the middle tier(LB) and in the secondary.

You're a sellout who has been tainted by the lure of other teams. Renounce your ways!

Also, I posted this news earlier.

Details:

Cornerback Johnathan Joseph has been arrested for possession of marijuana.

Joseph is the ninth Bengals player arrested since Jan. 1, 2006, and the first of 2007.

He is the fifth Bengals player drafted in 2005 and 2006 to be arrested. The team made a total of 16 draft picks in the previous two drafts.

Bengals PR director Jack Brennan repeated the organization's policy early this afternoon of not commenting on ongoing legal issues involving a player.

"We don't comment on these cases when they are still at the point of charges," Brennan said. "We don't think that would be appropriate."

Joseph is charged with possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. He was taken into custody at 2:15 a.m. after a car in which he was a passenger was stopped at U.S. 42 and Braxton Road.

A Boone County sheriff’s deputy said he stopped the 1999 gold Ford vehicle for weaving in and out of lanes at a slow rate of speed. A police report states the vehicle crossed the center line three times.

The driver, Kelsy Glover of Fairfield, was charged with careless driving and operating on a suspended license. Glover told the deputy she was eating food and reaching for Joseph’s juice when she was stopped, according to the report.

The police report states the deputy searched a Super Bowl XL backpack Joseph was holding after smelling a strong odor of marijuana during the traffic stop. Marijuana was found in the backpack next to a video game system, deputies said.

{Shantyman note: It was a PS3!}

Joseph, of Union, was released from the Boone County jail earlier today. His appearance in Boone District Court has been set for Feb. 5.

The other players from the past two drafts arrested are linebacker Odell Thurman, wide receiver Chris Henry, defensive end Frostee Rucker and wide receiver Reggie McNeal.

Four of the five players arrested were drafted in the first three rounds on the first day of their drafts: Thurman and Henry (second- and third-round picks in 2005) and Joseph and Rucker (first- and third-round picks in 2006).

The first violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy brings automatic counseling.

While one could say that horrible officiating cost the Saints early momentum, it's not as if they didn't have lots of chances to turn it around, particularly after that Bush TD.

That is whiner (aka Seattle) talk!

Didn't hear the Patriot fans bitching about the bad calls against them. They still had chances to win and didn't.

Huh? They had some bad calls on them, but the calls aren't what cost them the game or the overall momentum....how can you not agree with that? What cost them was their defense falling apart.

Sorry, the Rams have taken that crown in these parts... or if you want to go back a bit in history, the Chargers are the ultimate "whiners". ;)

Indeed. I'm not going to give up on them for a few (dozen) indiscretions. If anything it gives the team character :)
