If I remember correctly, it's supposed to be made from the cloth and blankets he was wrapped in when he came from Krypton hence the indestructable part...How they were able to actually sew it, being indestructable and all, is beyond me.

The uh...costume isn't indestructible. I guess he has an aura of some sort around him.

If he had on regular loose fitting clothes it'd get destroyed all the time (and has in various comics/cartoons).

that is his suit from the movie, but its not going to be noticable at all, thats how small all the little "s" symbols are. Which begs the question, Why the fuck did they do it then? No wonder this movie has a $3 billion budget.
