A point that was made on the RTVZone recap for this past episode was that they don't really consider women for these "returning players" things, except for Stephenie on Guatemala—which was kind of a special case. I suppose there's the larger issue of how women are portrayed on the show generally, but that's an argument for another time.

Anyways, those are just rumors. I hope they aren't true.

Wife and I finished Season 8 today, ALL-STARS...

Great season overall. Some boring shit near the beginning (as there usually is)...

Boston Rob is one hell of a fucking player. After watching Redemption Island and then this? Dude can do the challenges and can outwit anyone. Awesome how it all went down with the proposal and million dollars.

Just give me hot girl survivor. Amanda, Chelsea, Erin, Jenna. Who am I forgetting?

Parvatti

Parvati is probably my favorite Survivor girl.

I think this season is much better than the last couple. Those were far too predictable. This one at least has some swing to it. The characters are alright. Reward challenges are great, too. Just wait until we get to the "Pick someone to go with you" stuff. That always stirs the pot.

It's a shame to see Jonas get voted out but I'm glad Tarzan is staying. I like how he makes trouble. Throwing his underwear in the pot was great. He just said fuck it, and did his own thing. Brilliant.

Troyzan looks to be in good shape to win.

I think someone from the women tribe is going to win; what with them already having an idol. Unless the next episode; they get christina to flip to get the numbers, the guys are fucked.

from this weeks edit; seems like the women with their 6 are ready to weed out the men.

Aren't Amanda and Pavarti both in the top 5 days playing the game?

Yes, and both played along with other veterans on all-stars seasons. Of the three (I think it was three?) seasons with the gimmick, Stephenie was the only woman to return, and that was a somewhat special case considering the reason for her return was due to the way her season played out.

Do you really think the Survivor producers would have a "returning players" season with two women coming back? If so, who? Spencer Duhm of season 18 brought up the point that to date, the only female winner of the "player of the season" award - which is voted on by viewers and largely reflects the editing - is Jane from Nicaragua. Though there have been some great female players, their gameplay is often marginalized on the show. And in the case of Parvati and Amanda specifically, their use of sex appeal as a gameplay tool is way overemphasized.

I'm so glad we have Ponderosa after a vote now. RI will live on in our hearts as the black plague. I wouldn't mind them bringing back the Tocantin's "gimmick" where the Exhile Island had two people, one from each tribe going.

It almost changed the game in Panama/Exile Island 1, so I like it. It means more diplomacy and less idol worship. If we have to put up with the hidden immunity idol, it would be great if it's kept on Exile Island and away from the base camp so we don't have everyone finding it without clues.

Not actual spoilers (as I detest actually spoiling myself) but I think
>>>>Kim<<<<
is going to win. This person is being painted as being in a good position to win with lots of subtle "winner's quotes" but is not an over-the-top obvious candidate like
>>Troyzan<<
.

nice crazymoogle. watching that now. awesome channel who has it. Its great.

* clicked through and saw bIll's day after video and that was quite a turn of opinion. He's a really nice guy. I really wish the show didn't just portray him as this goofy idiot.

'you can quit or jump in a fire, whichever one is more convenient for you' - Colton.

I miss that guy. What an amazing villain.

Dividing into "tribes" for a challenge again? I think they might of moved the merge up from when it was originally planned.
Seems that way although given Colton's exit and the way New Manono was poised to get massacred, it was probably for the best.

Although they may well get massacred post-merge regardless... I'm thinking either Leif or Christina will go home tonight.

This Chelsea vs. Tarzan feud cracks me up.
Kim's totally working Troyzan. How does she NOT win this game?

Hoping for Michael to win immunity here. Just for the hysterics of it! EDIT: Whoops! Bad news Mikey!

Kim is smart, but she may be pushing too hard, too soon I think.

Edit: As soon as Jeff said Jay was methodical, I knew he was going to win. :D

They (usually) only praise people in last place when they pull off an upset.

Edit #2: Jeez Chelsea, way to expose your own alliance. :lol

Wow, this TC was definitely strange. No one thought they were going home, and the votes were all over the place.

Kim is gonna win the game.

Looks like Kim clearly has all of the girls and Troyzan within her control.
She'll only find herself in jeopardy if she starts getting cocky.

Thing is, I wouldn't necessarily rule out anything.
Amy was in the same position at one point in Vanuatu and we saw how that went down.
Girls can be awfully CATTY.
Question is... can Jay or Troyzan be this season's version of Vanuatu's Chris? I'm not so sure.

Hmmm, Jay and Troy voted for Mike too.

Next week is going to be big. I think Jay and Troy are going to turn it around though, Troy does have an idol. I still think Kim pushed her advantage too soon.

I wonder if Alicia and Christina feel like they're out of the loop after that vote. That could cause them to swing sides but I doubt it. Very good shape to stick with the women.

The Guys can be so dumb. They should've just spoken to each other. I wish Mike had found out what was going on.

Jay/Mike/Troy = pack of idiots. "No ones talking to me!" "Hey, wait, why are THEY included in the vote?" "Man, Mike's coming after me!"

Jay was about to, Kim handled that situation very well. I think it's more interesting that Leif also voted for Mike. Tarzan and Mike voted Christina, and Alicia and Christina voted Tarzan.

My guess is that Alicia and Christina voted Tarzan in case of idol hijinkery, and were told as such by Kim and the girls. Since it didn't really matter it probably didn't make the episode.

I'm liking where this season is heading. Kim is one of the most competent, strong female players in a long, long time.

That could be the case. I think they were told to vote for Tarzan, but I think it was a decoy throwaway vote, to make Jay and Troyzan feel more secure, after Chelsea slipped up and discussed getting rid of Mike in front of Alicia and Christina. After tribal council, Kim could then say to the guys, "See, Alicia and Christina aren't with us. It's totally not men versus women. You guys, Chelsea, and I are still the real alliance."

Of course, that's not really true. And, judging by the previews, the guys may well have sussed it out.

She's played a great game. One of the best ever, to this point. So far, it would be very satisfying if she won. By the end, everyone may hate her too much to vote for her. But from a viewer's standpoint, she's done a really good job since day one. The tribe switch was lucky for her, but it always takes a little luck, too.

How did these horrible people get cast?!

Of course Kim looks like a genius compared to the rest of these "Survivors".

In a better season her lie about Mike would have been exposed and quite possibly got her blindsided.

Agreed. She'd do well any season, but the standard is pretty low in this one. Never mind the men, her closest ally Chelsea made an incredibly stupid mistake this episode. Basically, Sab is her only competent backup, since Kat doesn't seem far away from doing something similar, and Alicia and Christina look like lemmings.

Troyzan and Jay might have a chance with the HI in tow
.

It's pretty crazy how Troyzan didn't go and talk with Mike, the hate was just too strong.

Kim really looks like the winner, if so I'm glad the editors are giving a female winner at least some credit and showing her moves in game. "She didn't do anything" shouldn't fly at the reunion this season if they keep it up. They would get a decent all-star female for the future as well.

If Colton wasn't such an ass it would have been nice to have him play for longer, seems like he was the only guy with some control. Jay knows what's up but he's just letting it slide.

I think the bigger wtf is why Chelsea has fake tits.....she must have been flat as a pancake =/

I didn't realize she had a boob job. Hell, I didn't even realize she had boobs.

Men still have one more shot if they can get Christina to flip, and she would be smart to do it because even if they get rid of all the guys, she is still the first woman out. Though I doubt any of them to be competent enough to figure that out.

btw leif is the most waste of space contestant on survivor yet. small in size; non existent in the game. every week; its like; aside from the physicality; what is he doing?

next week might be a good episode when the men scramble but yeah; pretty shit.

With next week's promo hinting so strongly towards the men regrouping, I can only assume they fail to bring in Christina and Kat and that instead one of Jay or Troyzan go home (unless Kim really decides to keep up her fun balancing act with both alliances in which case Leif gets dumped).

The Hidden Immunity Idol, of course, provides a potential juicy red herring. Chaos would break loose if somehow Kim doesn't have individual immunity and fails to play hers (while Troyzan successfully plants his on the targeted man). The game implodes into Pearl Islands-esque anarchy if she gets taken out. It would be the equivalent of Rupert getting bounced in that season.

I really hope that it gets out that Kim played Troyzan. I want to see the mess of drama that would unfold if that gets out. I don't like Kim and I really hope she doesn't win. I just hope that the move against Mike so early breaks their plan.

The fact that she straight up lied and threw Mike under the bus might work against her if she makes the final three, if it gets out that she did that. Too bad the men this season are too incredibly stupid (aside from Jay) to do anything about it.

It was dumb of Troyzan not to even talk to Mike. That really screwed things up for him.

Kim seems to have everything in hand right now, but there's still a lot of game left to be played.

Well, after this latest tribal; the men know they got played. Whether or not they can get 2 of the women to flip is another thing. If troyzan is smart; he needs to reveal his idol to the other men and use that to up their vote by 1. to convince say christina to flip.

"you don't flip; we will all throw votes @ you; use the idol; and you get booted."

Troyzan also has the idol in his pocket. If they can figure out where the vote is going, that can play to their advantage (especially since no one knows he has it).

Troyzan is an idiot along with mike. If someone comes to you and says "so and so is trying to get you out" and he is in your alliance you go talk to that person to see if someone is lying or not. Also Tarzan is a surgeon??? He might be smart but he is such an idiot and has no social game.

sometimes I wonder if tarzan is acting crazy.

last season or the one before with the black guy in pink underwear; dude was CRAZY!

LMAO. mike ended up with jonas. His exit stuff. Never realised they had these things before -they're fairly new and fascinating stuff - what goes on after they get voted out; and onto the jury.

Phillip actually seems like a smart guy now that he's out of there. He's spoken about how he realized that people were awe-struck with B Rob and he'd have next to no chance of winning so he "went big", took 2nd place and he's so memorable that it's likely he'll be cast again. Only thing that I find a bit odd about that is how he didn't seem to even try convincing the jury at final tribal.

Thanks for the ponderosas btw, forgot about them this week.

I love the Ponderosa videos. Some seasons, they're better than the actual show -- and I always think the show is pretty good.

Unfortunately, Mike is a boring dud. No wonder he wasn't getting any airtime on the show -- and he only gets two Ponderosa vids. "At least I was blindsided... Hey, there's some food!... A blindside is the way to go out... Yeah, food!... Dental plan..."

Even if she doesn't win, it's good to see that she's getting such an overwhelmingly glowing edit. This episode was essentially centered around her and her gameplay; the viewer really got that sense that whatever Kim ended up deciding, that would be the outcome (and it was). She also handled that potential mess with Jay and Mike very well. A lesser player wouldn't have been so eager to run up and attempt to interrupt a conversation like that, and play it off so smoothly.
