Switch 2’s game cases remind me of the N64 and I love it!

I liked this edit of it online

However this one looked funky in a weirdly it'd work way

The awful banner makes them look like those cheap substitute cases you used to get when buying movies from a video rental store. Comparing them to the N64 boxes is an insult

As it stands they should be filling the space with something more, so why not put the mandatory things like age ratings in there so they stand out to parents? Better of use the banner and cleans up the box art.

Seems like a big mistake to downplay the Nintendo logo text.

Switch 2 cases looks really ugly. The red banner is way too thick. Nintendo Switch 2 edition cases and key card cases are even worse, with all the text and QR codes fucking up the box art. Switch 1 cases were perfect and now Nintendo had to ruin it. Like everything else with this goddamn console.

They should just ship them in cardboard again. Mega nostalgia and they can probably get good pr for being environmentally friendly too lol.

I've always liked the old cardboard snes/N64/GBA boxes. It feels more premium to me lol.
Yeah, that's a no from me dog

I saw images of the Switch 2 game boxes from the side, and love how the cover art wraps around. That looks really nice. I never did like that plain text for the Switch 1 cases.

I can understand Nintendo's challenge in branding. They want consumers to understand this is the new system and that its games won't play on the older Switch. This will be a bigger problem than you realize. Remember that parents with children have always been Nintendo's key audience, and even though we have been playing videogames for 40-50 years, a lot of parents out there have no clue how any of this works.

PS1 > PS2 > PS3 > PS4 > PS5 was always easy to follow

No doubt we'll be seeing Switch 3 in 8 years.

Red spines are gone

Cases appear to be translucent

It's the box art inside the frame that looks like shit, the rest of it looks fine to me (including the translucent red box). I would probably have preferred a smaller case overall for these carts, closer to DS or 3DS cases, but this is acceptable. I'll just need to reprint the box art with something that looks less hideous.

They certainly command a premium, because the box hardly ever survives.

I seem to be in the minority, but I like the red banner at the top. It is giving me SNES vibes with how the game art is smaller than the box itself (SNES had the black border with smaller game art).
