Not all bad. Some of the testing is very positive

Only used mine docked but if true and it's not a faulty unit then it's very disappointing for those who use it primarily as a handheld and scummy of Nintendo to go backwards.

As Nintendo appeals to "wide color gamut", it is a very vivid color. Exaggerated saturation expressions unique to wide color gamut panels are everywhere.

This is the main thing I noticed and it's very appealing. When it comes to ghosting the only time I ever noticed it was the PSP-1000, the Switch 2 isn't that bad so I'm fine with it.

A bit offtopic, but I like how the author in the linked article is using Star Rail videos and screenshots to test the color accuracy and image quality of the screen, yet there's no Star Rail on Switch 2 (currently the 3rd party game I want the most on the system).

I have just seen a video on YouTube by RGT 85 saying that he can't see it while showing Sonic Mania as an example and it has some of the worst ghosting I have ever seen. It was just one big blur when it was moving. This has proven to me that some people can't see it like colour blindness. So this sadly is going to be a debate that's going to go on.

The screen is actually slower than the original switch screen from 2017 lmao. How in the hell is that even in possible unless you picked a screen off the literal factory floor and said 'lets use this'. So now you have a handheld that has a shit screen on it that makes games have one of the worst ghosting effects you'll ever see in your life. What a clownshow and an embarrassment.

Yeah the ghosting is bad and unacceptable. You don't even need to play a game to see it because it's observable when you move across your game tiles on the home screen.

That dude has turned into a nintendo loving channel that caters to loving/lying about everything nintendo for views. If it were playstation/xbox doing this then he would've ripped them apart.

I played 3 hours of MKW and Fast Fusion in the airport today and the screen is so slow I actually missed my flight

just kidding, I had fun and didn't notice anything wrong.

Maybe that's it for me. I still play my PSP-1000 occasionally so my bar for LCD screens is really low.

Is this actually noticeable by a normal human? I've so far only played on my 55inch oled and did a couple of handheld sessions today, mario kart looked great on the small screen.

I'm impressed at how they've managed to get that from an IPS panel. They've somehow managed to find something with worse latency from TV's back in 2010's.

Yesterday I tried Sonic origins and Mario WiiU/Wonder on it after some people said it was more noticeable on 2D games, green hills zone and a couple of Mario courses later and I never notice anything.

I genuinely wonder (I assume people are being honest) if that its not 2 different manufacturers of screens and one of them is not as good.

If it means it's immune to OLED-like stuttering, it's fine to me.

I haven't noticed anything horrible playing MKW. I didn't use the system in handheld mode that much so far, so maybe games that run less smoothly may look worse.
Still, as someone who had to get rid of one of those fabled LG OLEDs because I absolutely couldn't stand the ultra-slow response time, this may actually be a blessing in disguise for me.

Will be honest, when I got my OG PSP I thought the game (which for the time and my eyes looked very sharp lol) had some built in fancy motion trail effects 😂.

It was a fun game and the excitement of a new console.

The... what? In the comparison chart in the OP the response time for an LG CX (the model I have, incidentally, I doubt newer models are worse) is 0.32ms.

Now, 30fps does look really janky on it, but that isn't because of response time.

Or try to play FPS games and others with free moving camera. It can be playable like the OG PSP was but this is another aspect where the increase in price was not quite well matched by the quality of the HW (portable screen has lots of blur/image retention problems and it seems worse in those metrics than the OG Switch, HDR does not really work in portable mode and can make the picture washed out, VRR does not work when docked, etc…).

The screen should not be worse in any metric than the OG Switch model, not sure why does it seem acceptable especially with a more expensive unit.
