eh

I feel like since late 2024 the "crossgen" period has ended and PS4 is starting to actually get left in the dust- not very many releases coming out for the 8th gen consoles anymore

just compare this list of the January 25 releases to the January 22 releases

What I'm getting at here is that considering the Switch 2 is slightly stronger than a PS4, I doubt many third party devs are chomping at the bit to put games on Switch 2 considering that they've already abandoned PS4 platforms. then again, Series S exists so its completely plausible.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
People aren't being realistic about the price IMO. Everybody is expecting $399 but I believe it could be considerably higher than that..

No where in the opinion piece does it say anyone is excited. It's filled with words like could and maybe.

Fanboy disconnect between the content they are sharing and thread title yet again.

I mean I'm sure all third parties are excited about getting a new major platform where they can get some extra revenue from all their old games of the last 10 years

A rumour for here

The game, which is in full development for the next-generation machine, is being deliberately withheld. Nintendo has not given the green light to all its partners to present their titles, especially those that would be exclusive to the Switch 2.

Why this extreme secrecy? 🤔 Because it seems that any game exclusive to the Switch 2 requires special permission from Nintendo before it can be announced. This would be a strategy to control the hype and prevent leaks until the company decides to reveal more official technical information about its new console.

I mean, i have no idea who that source is or anything about its credibility, but all doom ports on switch were impossible ports, I think Dark Ages is inevitable

If you only keep the ones that have an actual console listed and not just PC or Quest, 7 out of 11 have PS4 or Switch listed. 6 out of 10 if you want to remove DKC since it’s an exclusive.

Not using this to make a statement about anything that’s going to happen with Switch 2. Just didn’t strike me as a great example of cross-gen having ended.

My guess is the likes of Sea of Thieves, Judgement/Lost Judgement and a Resident Evil Remake Collection will be part of the first six months releases.

I'm sure the idea of being able to whip out a quick port instead of needing to hire a third party studio to create a bespoke Switch-style version probably excites them too.

Ports to switch 2 will be a ton easier than porting to switch

It seems NV API heavily suggests or help with mesh shaders

Peoples have found in the g3d2 API in the Nintendo SDK that they added support for it in software.

This plus the fact that performance and even ultra performance transformer model DLSS looks that good and doesn’t have that much of a performance impact (quality vs quality ~5-10% with new drivers), but that even performance mode which boost framerates challenges the old CNN quality model, is a game changer

Nintendo’s biggest advantage from picking Nvidia ain’t for TFlops, it’s how insane they are with software side and AI.

That's not how it works.

Game publishers / developers love re-releasing games on new consoles because they already paid the development, marketing, etc. costs. So the profit margins are much higher.

So yes, third parties are certainly VERY excited for the Switch 2.

Ah forgot to show the other interesting tidbits datamined

MeshCodec, is assumed to mix the Zstd block api, Meshoptimizer encoders, and some custom algorithms to compress the vertex and index data of 3d models

So for Nintendo to even be aware of meshlets and mesh compression is a huge sign that Nvidia API documentation heavily recommends it.

It’s a huge CPU and bandwidth saver, PERFECT for an handheld.

well, yeah but i was primarily referring to PS4 not switch

Games that came out on Switch 1 would obviously be available on Switch 2. But I was thinking of the types of games too much for Switch but OK for PS4

Has Nintendo ever been ahead , besides SNES , in the console graphic wars ?

N64 was held back due to carts, how was the Cube? I can't even remember.

I'll say Xbox is excited. 😂

Well if its true then good for you Nintendo. Im not into handheld, since Im more comfortable with console and in front of Tv, but maybe I will consider Switch 2 beside my Ps5 in the future. But Im not sure, i still prefer console, even in my mobile phone, i dont play games. And because I plan to save more money to get PS portal which looks like it is evolving and getting updates.

The Cube punched above its weight because it was efficient. It wasn’t an Xbox but it could do some cool things with shaders and whatnot.

Usually better than PS. But the small discs hurt it.

GC went toe to toe with xbox sorta.
I read somewhere Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader did somethings that couldn't be done on either xb or ps2. For example.
