Wow I don't think I've ever disagreed so hard with the GAF consensus before.
I had to pick my jaw up off the floor numerous times today while watching ep 14. I mean, I was freaking out, that shit was epic. What the hell is going on in here? You guys were laughing at that!? I do not understand.
This show leaves me conflicted. It's like, I see the problems there, but I don't feel them. Instead I feel like it's the most entertaining anime I've seen this year, and I can't wait to give my money to the people that decide to make a scaled Kirito figure (please be Alter, please be Alter). That ending almost had me bawling, and I don't usually cry at imaginary things.
Was I the only one that thought the dude was just an?npc system admin thing like the loli
This has its own official thread now? Hm. Edit: I blame kayos entirely for not telling me this.
Well... just finished Episode 14. The LN has more detail than the anime from what I've read of it now.
I guess they wanted to finish this arc quickly? I was bracing myself for an awesome boss battle, but instead I get a pile-on and the boss getting wiped out in a matter of short minutes.
I didn't think the final boss was going to reveal himself that quickly. I kinda figured he was an NPC thing or a sage thing from the computer system or something of that sort because of the duel between him and Kirito in a previous episode, but meh. I also like Kirito's seiyuu; he's done a pretty good job with the character in a few episodes including this one. Also, what does "chaged into immortal object"? What's "chaged"? Edit your shit. I wish we got a good explanation as to why he created the world and what his justification for making the game adhere to mortality rules and stuff was, but a lot of stuff in the episode wasn't really explained.
What I really liked, though, was the very end of the episode when Kirito woke up. Long hair, shriveled body, muscles probably atrophied from lying down so damned long, slow movement, etc. That was a pretty decent spot of art. Though, ah, he can't walk around, but a lot of stuff in this episode ended up defying a lot of rules put into place anyway? I guess?
Yeah. That's... all I got.
If you like this, I imagine you would like a ton of modern anime.
I'm not a huge anime buff, but does .Hack explore a lot more behaviours of people in a world like this? Laughing Coffins and the Liberation Army (under Kaibou) being prime examples. I liked how Kirkman wrote these sorts of out groups in The Walking Dead. Since this was such a short show (ep 15 is the last right?) I feel the cool concept of being trapped in this world is kind of wasted.
I've not read the LNs so I don't understand where it could possibly go from here. It's not a short show. It's 25 episodes, and it's popular enough that there will probably be another season next year. And the year after that. And the year... you get the idea.![]()

Is the gap between 14 and 15 going to be a huge arc change up like that of TTGL?
Well... it's still better than Accel World![]()

Even though the writer(s) were incompetent and couldn't express it well, I understood the sentiment of the creator.
This is the charitable interpretation of the stuff he babbles at the end:He wanted to create an actual world - a world of the floating castle... and he wanted people to embrace its reality - not just as an ephemeral thing that you visit like a themepark - but whose presence, lore, objects, creatures were filled with threat and value.
So he didn't create the world out of an mad man's intention to trap people in some kind of nightmare, but rather a mad man's intention of bringing about a fantastical reality with weight and gravitas. The people that fought and died are what give weight and meaning to the world.
The subtext of the idea is - despite the tragedy, there was value to the world - to the stories and experiences within. The love between the two characters for example was definetly real, and something that survives beyond the context of this artificial world.
Of course, that's been charitable - I'm not entirely sure the author explicitly realized these ideas as such, because if he had, it wouldn't have been that difficult to convey those ideas (just extend the creator's monologue and have him say as much). On the other hand, perhaps he was ill advised to dumb it down for the young adult/teen crowd?
Only if they continue to overuse that fantastic violin song during the dramatic touchy feely moments. I love that song.No comment. Stay tuned for the ride!![]()

Wait, is it 25 episodes like Fate / Zero is 2X episodes?
i.e. split across a season break, into what is effectively 2 short seasons?
The way you write it sounds like they're going to have ep 15 next week... while the end credits to 14 seem pretty damn final.
Anyway... Sword Art Online... still better than the Twilight series.
No, it's not like Fate/Zero. It's going to keep airing. In Japan, after ep14 they ran a short teaser for the next stage of the series, promoting the new OP/ED songs.![]()
This sounds exactly like this teen novel I read when I was like 12, except in anime form.

SAO 14
AHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Holy shit what a joke. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I had to get that out of my system. There's no way in hell I can take any of that even slightly seriously.
I've got to keep up with what all the popular kids are watching nowadays.
I might have to drop it if they all join up for a new game set in a fairy world. I need my main character to be manly and have no defense and all offense.
Did you watch Accel World then?
I just clicked on this thread thinking it was actual sword art... :/
And to think, you got something even better!
Meh. I always have a tough time adjusting to new OP/EDs, but I feel like I just don't care for these ones. They have the (spoiler for the next episode etc) preview clips and the 2nd OP and 2nd ED for this anime now.
That's a little too bad. While it's great that it could be open to interpretation sometimes things (as you can tell from posts in this thread and in AnimeGAF when I hesitantly venture into it) can be quite laughable when they're made unclear and a lot of stuff happens because of seemingly "reasons".R_thanatos said:That's also because it was the author first try ( at this ) and he didn't change the already written parts when he wanted to improve his work afterwards ..
There is no interpretation here..Meh. I always have a tough time adjusting to new OP/EDs, but I feel like I just don't care for these ones.

Let me reiterate my points from the previous thread in a more calm manner this time.
The show starts by flipping you off. Last episode you are left with the cliffhanger that his boss is going to be killer. Come the opening he's already at 1HP. They literally flipped his health. Doesn't help that the battle animation took a plunge. This is the "final episode so I feel it is fair to expect better. The reasoning behind the OHMIGOSH plot twist was nonsensical. It literally came down to, "Oh you're more skilled than me so you must be the admin!' Poirot is crying. Asuna getting out of paralysis with no explanation whatsoever. Note everyone else is still paralysed. But at least it was one final tragedy for the show to finish with. Except it will later throw it in your face because she didn't really die. Kirito coming back from the dead. The show tells us you have 10 seconds before your brain in fried. He took over 20 seconds to do anything. There's no way you can explain how someone can survive having their brain fried unless you claim they have no brain. Now I realise it was for dramatic purposes but having the hospital be completely empty felt really off. 10 minutes ago 6000 plus people just woke up and we're meant to believe they all vacated the hospital in that time. Also he would be one of two people who still didn't wake up, you'd think the hospital would show a little concern for that. Also Kirito's priorities are fucked. His first concern is to check if his cyber pal is alright, even though he had just seen her "alive" 30 seconds ago. However his parents have been worried sick for two year. Guess they can suffer for a bit longer. Especially as there is no staff around to inform them.- Bonus point I didn't notice in my original rant.
Did you notice that he just left his headgear behind? Guess he didn't really care for his virtual daughter after all HA HA HA! (he saved her to the harddrive).
I didn't even mention the whole lack of reasoning for the whole thing, mostly because my brain was beginning to switch off at that point so that scene was basically a blur when I wrote the original post.
Only if they continue to overuse that fantastic violin song during the dramatic touchy feely moments. I love that song.
You mean the one Kajiura blatantly and shamelessly repurposed from Fate/Zero?
