The building is 56 meters taller than the previous record-holder, the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.

Near the top of the building, a huge ball moves about to counter strong winds and seismic vibrations. Taiwan often suffers earthquakes, though most of the tremors don't cause any casualties or damage.

That thing is fucking AWESOME. It bothers me that 9/11 might signify the end of America's days of producing...well, huge ass buildings. I just love big shit like the Sears Tower, Petronas, the WTC etc.

Burj Dubai is a 705-metre (2,313-foot) skyscraper currently under development in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Designed to be completed around 2008, this would put it at the number one spot in all four of CTBUH's categories, as well as make it the tallest freestanding structure.
Damn...

Toshiba has supplied the world's two fastest elevators which run at a top speed of 1008 meters per minute (63 km/h or 39 mph) and are able to take visitors from the main floor to the observatory on the 89th floor in under 39 seconds.

Holy monkey fucking christ! I don't like the feeling of elevators period, let alone ones that move at faster speeds than I can drive through town.

Lamb you should see the building where they made the elevator. It was on the history channel. Man that thing is fast as heck. It preasurizes the cabin too. I would love to visit these buildings though they are remarkable. I just know one day they will all fall down.
