Tales of Xillia Day 1 Edition (NA, EU), Collector's Edition (NA, EU) announced

its bugging out atm. it says to add it to the cart, but when i go to checkout, it says that it cant process the order because its sold out and has been removed from the cart.

Damn it, I wish these guys would get their shit together and actually get some solid stock in there. But then again, it's EBGames, and even worse, they're in Canada so it looks like some of us will be pretty doomed anyways lol.

Yeah I managed to add cart, and I got a copy confirmed. It may be a glitch so I still want to try to preorder a copy in store... I've been screwed over a few times on CEs that I wanted, and this one seems to be actually limited.

Order Confirmation

Thank you for your order. We appreciate your business!

yeah, ebgames.ca is pretty crappy compared to GS.com. It's a good thing I put my order down at GS.com as a backup, although i'll be paying slightly more as a result.

Comforting to know that even if you get to preorder, that you might be screwed out of it anyways lmao.

I've asked an amerifriend to preorder for me, hopefully she is ok with it.

Well I will probably be ok, but yeah I'm not even sure if it's guaranteed. I've only ordered 1 CE/LE off the site so far though (KH3D) and I got it just fine.

Having worked at Gamestop full time for 3 years I never saw a damaged CE arrive at our very high volume store. I also never saw a CE of anything gutted unless we got a ton of them in and they weren't selling at all and were price reduced. Of course the manager of my local store and most of his staff are gamers and understand how to treat the merchandise. YMMV.

I'm not saying that shipping errors don't occur but for something as elusive as a North American Tales Collector's Edition I think the miniscule amount of risk is more than worth it. If you have a decent Gamestop store near you then I would think any Tales fan would be running and not walking towards it in order to secure their copy. This is a nice looking CE, folks.

In my experience gamestop packs their shipments to stores pretty well. Only damaged item I ever got was a game that had a boxcutter slice but they just gave me a different copy.

Why am I surprised that EBGames.ca only received around 1% of the available stock and sold out virtually immediately? I've been checking daily and the one morning I don't is the moment they finally put it up for pre-order. -_-

I still have my Gamestop.com pre-order, although I'll be paying a premium for it due to shipping/brokerage charges. Oh well, it can't be helped.

I'm hoping they make more available for purchase, but this is Canada. We usually sell out almost instantaneously for limited items such as this.

check their stores. my friend was able to preorder after they reached the max online orders

Mmm. Even if more stock is added to ebgames.ca, I think I'm gonna stick with my gamestop.com order. I don't mind paying a bit extra to guarantee that I'll get it.

I wish the Day 1 package was available in America. I don't care about figures. I ended up throwing away the Haseo figure that came with G.U. Vol. 1.

I just preordered it from GS's website. I actually have had no issues with preordering from their site (I preordered B:I's Songbird Edition and Injustice: Battle Edition) and received them the day after they were released. I'm excited to play this and the figure will look nice in my art studio.

You can always go and try. People have reported that they stopped today though. Maybe it's just theirs.

Yeah, I'll still stop by and try. Hopefully they still take orders. I really want to save some money instead of paying for shipping lol.

The one I went to today didn't have it in their system but it showed u on their Gostores system or what the hell ever.

When I got home I pre-ordered it on the site and it said it wasn't available to ship to store. Least I shouldn't be missing out on it.

If you really don't care about getting it on Day 1, you can use the coupon code SAVER on Gamestop's website.

Ah, cool thanks. Didn't know about that. Yeah, I'm in no hurry to play it since I already beat the JP version. I still haven't even gotten past the third chapter of the US ToGF lol.

So I'm trying to get into JRPG's. I didn't really care much for Tales of Vesperia, but I'm willing to give this a shot. Would this likely change my mind, or no?

I'm pretty sure that Vesperia is considered to be the better game.

People have their preferences with Tales games, but if you didn't care for Vesperia you should probably try another series.

Eh, Vesperia is a great game, but having played them back to back, I like Xillia more. (And I found Graces unbelievably frustrating)

It all depends on what you didn't like in Vesperia.

I found the characters in Xillia to be great, with attractive character designs and a bevy of interesting personalities. The world was very detailed and with lots of background story and richly designed towns. Sub-quests that you can track down with ease or avoid completely if that's not your thing. And while the plot-line might sound cliche in summary, it flows rather nicely in game. (excluding a hitch near the end)

Regardless, there will probably be a more comprehensive trailer available some time before release, so just watch that and if the game looks good there, get it. I bought the game after having seen the original Japanese trailer and I was not disappointed.

If you don't really care much for Vesperia, than I'd be hard
pressed to recommend the series in general. You'd probably be better of giving it a miss

If he doesn't like Persona 4 he probably won't miss much from swearing off JRPGs forever.

Not to derail the thread, but while Persona 4 might be representative of a lot of JRPGs, I think it's also representative of a lot of the -flaws- of JRPGs: Teenage cast making a big deal out of teenage problems, adults are useless, friendship is magic, all resulting in an underwhelming coming of age story. I loved Persona 3, and while it also had the above flaws, I feel it touched a little better on ideas of the ego and some minor philosophy 101. Whereas Persona 4's aggravatingly simple message of 'Oh my gosh, people are more than they appear on the surface!' just served to damage characters like Yosuke, who was in fact as shallow as he first appeared.

Anyway, I took things way too offtopic, but I think people should really give Xillia a fair shake.

Weeeeeeell, I would disagree with this entirely, but it doesn't matter. I still think it's a sound recommendation if he's interested in the genre, but potentially not Tales.

Alright, thanks everybody. I also wanted to say I think it's pretty cool that you all are level-headed enough to suggest other series and say that this probably won't click either. I know a lot of people who will just try to get people to play every game in certain series, even if they don't care for past ones.

Thanks!

Now I guess I'll look elsewhere. I keep hearing Persona 4, and I saw a little bit of it before on other sites. Is it good to just buy it on PSN, on PS3? Speaking of, how's that Ni No Kuni gam? I really enjoyed the small demo I played. Would that be a good entering point to the genre?

NNK is great for lapsed JRPG fans or newcomers I think, but you should probably give the demo a shot first. Also the demo is a bad demo so if you like it despite that you should probably get the game.

Is Persona 4 available on PSN? I didn't think the PS2 version was.

If you have a Vita, get P4Golden. The extra content is definitely worth it. Only drawback for me was the two different VAs they used, but part of that was probably due to me being so used to the original voice cast.

dumb question:

Usually regular editions and limited editions are connected to each other on the same product page with a small box under the price. In this case they aren't. Is that just because it seemingly was just put up?

Wow I just ordered the CE on Amazon about 5 minutes ago after seeing this thread pop up again. Had no idea the reason for the thread bump was to alert everyone to the Amazon pre-order LOL

I've had times where items have been damaged by shipment from GS before, hopefully it doesn't happen again. Still surprised I'm getting the CE since its not that amazing. I might switch over to the standard edition later down the line.

Should've given us the Tipo plushie instead of the inferior Milla figure.

Gonna keep my GS preorder closer to release date just in case they suddenly pop up with an exclusive bonus. Preordering from Amazon as well.

I think it's because it was just posted. I got the link from a poster on CAG, and that person posted the link around 9:30am (EDT).

I'm going to stick with my GS preorder, since in the past, Amazon always mucked up my CE boxes with their horrible shipping. They used to be well packed, but now (for me at least) they just throw them in any ol' box, and mail it.

I recently used Amazon (or an affiliate of them) and they mucked up my expensive order so I have to go through the returning and stuff like that. I'm a lot more wary of them now, if not completely swear it off depending on the outcome since it's still ongoing. Basically I paid for a new 3DS XL and got a used one instead. I think I might leave with $100 down due to shipping after the fact.

International btw.

If Graces f was any indication, Gamestop will probably have the pre-order DLC exclusive, so I'll stick with them.

Also, not wanting to risk a Hyrule Historia LE-type incident if they don't print too many of these and Amazon lets people order multiple copies.

Placing an Amazon preorder, but keeping my Gamestop preorder until I know the Amazon preorder is legit. Currently there's no picture or anything up yet.

Is the Amazon link a legit preorder? I've seen items go up for preorder on Amazon before then get pulled because Amazon wasn't one of the retailers selling it. I've got a preorder with GS online, so I'm loathe to go changing mine to Amazon to use my Prime shipping just to have it fall through.

You don't get charged for it, so just place the preorder now and wait to see if it's legit or not.
