Tearaway |OT| Super Iota 64

Well, my game froze and crashed when I tried to take a picture of a bathroom stall but anyways!

This game is magical. Reminds me of the feeling I got when I played LBP1 for the very first time.

What is the animation technique they use to animate the environnment? Stuff like grass and long strips of papers that flow and form into a bridge when you approach? It all looks really cool.

I think I got lucky with the tower of doom trophy, managed it on my second proper attempt. The Tear gave me the most trouble, those rolling sections kill me.

This game is adorable. I always find myself smiling when I see the sun, I don't think that will ever get old.

Not a big fan of the backtouch so far (something about it feels off), but everthing else has been wonderful from the hour or so I've put into it. The game is quite a looker.

Haven't finished it yet but this is the first next-gen game for me. Just lovely and the inventive use of control inputs is fantastic and never feels forced.

More than just a resolution hike and a few more characters on screen at the same time (sorry majority of console launch titles) it really feels like something that takes known gameplay mechanics and sensibly expands on them using the broad input possible on the Vita (including the camera).

This is the only game I've played for Vita where I have said, "NOW I can justify getting this thing." Fantastic game.

Just finished the game and regarding the ending
this may be the only handheld game for me where I was nearly close to tearing up. One because of the message and no more Atoi and two, cause there wasn't more to play left :'C Mm have made one heck of a game. So much so that I'd love a (maybe open world) sequel!

So I'm stuck in a part where I need to draw something for a character, but every time I try the pencil doesn't do anything and I can't exit out of the drawing screen. Anyone run into this?

I've been playing this for around 2 hours and it's simply magical. I knew I was playing something special within the first five minutes. It looks gorgeous and the music so far has been very great.

I customize my character too often though, I always feel like it doesn't look quite right and I have to adjust it, haha.

Completed this tonight.

This game is why I play video games. Fun throughout, brilliantly done. One of those gaming experiences I'll always remember.

The game is very charming, but I'm hoping it will get into the gameplay soon. I just arrived at the something or other hills section after playing for an hour and a half or so, and it still feels like I'm just in the tutorial. With other posters saying the game lasts only six hours or so, I'm getting worried that there isn't a whole lot of unguided gameplay to this. I hope I'm wrong.

Just beat this game. One of my favorite gaming experience in a LONG time. It was beautiful, challenging, fun, endearing and moving. I wish more games were like this. I would love to see a PS4 game come out one day and use the touch pad. I think Tearaway could be a solid platformer.

How long is this game? I'm considering picking it up by using the $10 credit I got for buying a ps4, but I want something that'll last me between 8-12 hours so that I don't get tired of it.

I want this game so badly. Media Molecule makes games simply unlike anything that has ever existed. Gosh I want it so badly.

Vita is just out of my budget this holiday, though.

The first third is slow. The only complaint I had in the last 2/3 of the game is that I fucking hate gyro controls. They're barely used, and they are used sensibly and cleverly, but tilting what you're looking at is always annoying for me. That's my problem though.

The game never gets hard, largely because you have infinite lives and somewhat overly generous checkpoints, and it is a linear enterprise, but I never really felt like I wasn't in control after the first couple stages.

Just now finished the story, 83 percent complete. This wraps up absolutely perfectly. What a clever culmination of what the game sets out to achieve. Not the best game ever, but consistently clever, satisfying stage design and the best feeling mechanics Mm has yet implemented. Also possibly the single most successfully realized concept I've seen pulled off in the medium since Metroid Prime. End spoiler
Okay, not really, but I just wanted to say how much I love that this turns into some sort of Sesame Steet fever dream towards the end.
I can see myself revisiting this a few times a year for a long while.

Hey: can I change Iota's outfit color?

I know how to put on different eyes and things I've made, but I'm seeing some of these custom versions you're all posting and wondering if I'm missing something. I'm at The Barn now, if it's merely a matter of unlocking the ability to change the color of Iota's clothes.

I don't think you can, but what people have been doing is making their own clothes using the cutting board (for lack of a better term--it's where you make the crown for the squirrel, for example). You can access it by using the scissors icon on the left side while editing Iota/Atoi's costume.

P.S. Guys, I know this might sound a little crazy, but I think this might be my game of the year. I mean, it's not the most complicated or meaty game or anything, but it made me feel so good. It's like Tearaway is constantly giving me a hug while I'm playing it.

took some time off, but i'm really enjoying it now that i'm not constantly comparing it to what came before. it's very pleasant.

Just a heads up for people who plan to buy Tearaway. The game is priced very low right now in the European psn store. At 32 dollars (209 kronor) it is one of the cheaper games in the store, and the cheapest physical copy of the game costs 50% more here in Sweden.

I've gotten all the bronze and silver trophies... Gotta replay some of the levels to get the gold trophies for the platinum. I have a feeling finding all the confetti is going to be my biggest problem...

Ah! That makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

I think at one point the games said you can flip a decoration around by double tapping it? Does anyone know how to do that? (like if you want the mirror image of the object you just cut out of paper)

The ending hit me a little harder than I was expecting, and I contributed to it without even knowing.

It was when it describes Atoi's journey right at the end, and how she wasn't sure if the You was malicious or not, and how she discovered we were on her side. It was the message I recorded. I didn't really put much thought into it at the time, but man. "I'm here for you." And so she trusted me. Gawd. ;_;

Is this an issue with my Vita:

Any of the sections that require jumping on the rear touch jump pads is erratic and downright broken. Touch isn't registered at all. Or sometimes I put my Vita on the ground and the jump pads are randomly moving.

There's this one instance where I have to walkonto a jump pad, rear touch and then jump across to another jump pad and repeat 4 times. Except it's so erratic that sometimes it doesn't register.

EDIT: Played BF4 remote play and apparently the top two quadrants are constantly being pressed... ugh. I really hope Sony's warranty covers this.

This game! I got my copy!!! It puts such a HUGE smile on my face! I just got JUMP!

First, it is beautiful. Like beyond beautiful. One of the prettiest games I have ever seen in my life. Second, it sounds lovely. Third, there's none of that bullshit padding they started Little Big Planet with. OMG I need a gif to express myself.
