The guy certainly saved enough evidence in his phone for there to be a conviction. When I had someone fucking with my head I had all the data from my cell backed up on a drive and kept it at a friends' house and although I haven't had a reason to use it it's going to lead to jail time eventually.

I see prison as something that's stupid to send people for petty crime as all that happns is they learn to do it better next time, but this woman needs to seriously locked away as this is a terrible thing she's done. How could anyone do that to someone? I've not seen this story until now, but she clearly has such little care for human life that there's no guarantee she won't do something like it again in the future.

EDIT: reading the transcript again, there's a definite cold and calculating tone to it. There's a very strong chance she might simply be a fucking sadist who enjoyed this and was looking forward to the sympathy and attention after killing this kid.
She may literally just be a murderer who went into this with pure calculation and malicious intent. If so, she deserves to sit in a prison for the rest of her life.
I can only hope they make the effort to diagnose any potential mental health condition just in case.

She is no friend. At a similar age I called 911 on my friend who was attempting suicide, so this really makes my blood boil.

Usually I would find it unjust but those messages really makes her guilty of manslsughter. Disgusting thing to do, feel sorry for the victim to have a friend like that because the right friend could have probably helped.
If she was doing this becuase she genuinely loved him and thought he would be happier dead then she needs a stay at a mental health facility.
If she was doing this for the kicks then she needs locking up in proper jail and staying there for a hefty chunk of time.
Either way the world would be a bit safer.
Hopefully it was the first, as disturbing as it is it could at least be understandable... Ish. Of course the whole 'brainwashed' defence points towards the second with a less then healthy dose of being a sociopath.

It's a possibility as my original post explored, but I'm reading the transcript over and looking at her pictures and I'm leaning more toward the fact she enjoyed this and would do it again if given the chance.
How do we really do rehab for that?!
I really want her to be a sadist because I feel she deserves punishment regardless.
I'm heavily leaning towards she knew what she was doing and needs to be in prison. She's a psychopath, this story is completely fucked up.

It breaks my heart. He doesn't appear to have been on the edge - she pushed him to the edge, and then pushed him over it. The way she expresses herself in those text messages is pretty damning evidence against any argument that this was an act of compassion.

It's possible. It's possible she believes what she did was true love, some kind of euthanasia.
To write that off as impossible is to ignore how complex people are and how incredibly powerful our minds are when it comes to self-preservation, delusion, etc...
If you're going to wish for something, then punishment & rehabilitation/understanding the impact of her actions/treatment for any mental health issues would surely be the thing to wish for first?
