TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

Anyone know or can link some Dragunov combos? everything I have watched makes no sense due to lack of inputs.

Really need some better wall carry and juggles, mine are super basic.

For wall carry his best option is to learn how to use f3,d/f,cancel

Very basic that i've had success with is:

f/d+2, 4,4,4 >>dash, 3,1,2 and then you can go for a running 2 or something for added insult

u/f+4, d+4,1,2 is a staple combo. Think the u/f+4 is pretty safe on block. It's a great combo for people at the wall and in general, the d+4,1,2 should be a reflex you have for people on the floor.

Man I'm gonna need practice on nailing Kazuya's rage drive. Those inputs on a pad are no joke. Also really want to give Claudio a real shit, and maybe Katarina.

Katarina has arguably the easiest execution out of all the characters, she's great to learn the systems with as you don't have to worry about execution so much.

Claudio is a little tougher but still easier than the Mishimas. I've been told that Kazuya is actually one of the hardest characters to play in terms of execution.

Tekken Zaibatsu has some

For the most optimal stuff, you'll want to learn how to crouch dash cancel, as that's a big part of his wall carry off of f+3. To do it, you crouch dash, then tap up during the dash, let the stick go to neutral, then you can tap forward to cancel the sidestep. This lets him do long carries that go very far.

I just have to say, as an old fuck in the FGC, it is HILARIOUS that people have regressed back to what is essentially nu-mIRC for fighting game discussion.

I love everything about this game apart from Akuma being a bullshit character. My friend, a street fighter, uses him and just spams Hadouken which does damage while blocked, he has an attack canceller move and his special is unblockable. Did they throw all balancing out of the window when it came to Akuma or something?

And I might have forgotten but could you do specials before by just pressing R1?

Sidestep fireballs. Remember, sidestep exists in this series.

And "specials" did not exist in this series until this entry.

You maybe have a bit to learn before talking balancing.

This.

Also the unblockable has long startup and can be ducked under.

I've been sidestepping the fireballs. I'm not a Tekken expert but I was playing Tag Tournament 2 for like 2 years before this. And Akuma is just wrecking me. It's the fact that I can't block his special that's annoying me. When matches are close that's what it normally comes down to.

Thank you so much.

Do you mean you can't block his rage art? You jump to avoid it.

Was doing some random lab work and found something but had to leave before I could dissect it further.

Jin's Rage art hits high so I can just crouch block to avoid it entirely? It seemed to be fairly safe on block because of the pushback so that's probably the best way to punish it right?

Oh don't give me that. They ported over most of the customizations from last-gen anyway, and upon close inspection, the customizations in 7 don't really look much better texture or model wise than those in Tekken 6.

You don't know what you're talking about :)

Yes you duck and launch.

for basic, good damage:

Launcher, f+4 4 3, b4 3 S! Dash 3 1 2

This works off his qcf1, qcb2, ws2 and df2 launchers.

The guy in charge of the lobby system managed to make it worse than SFV, that's a serious feat. Around 1m30 between match, can't quit lobby once one people accepted the match. Impressive.

Platinum is finished!!

Aside from treasure mode I've had a lot of fun hosting 4-player tournaments. Even managed to win one lol :)

I'm in love with the game

Sorry I keep saying specials but meant Rage Drives. I'll try jumping and ducking next time.

Another question, I've used Hwoarang in Tekken games since Dark Resurrection, is he a good character or should I change now?

Kazuya has some great simple input moves, his spin kick chain does very nicely against guys who don't know a thing about blocking and I'm a fan of his square with kick combos that kinda lock your opponent in place. At the very least I went like 30-12 vs my housemate last night so I've still got it a little.

Katarina's single button kick combo was pretty ridiculous when I tried it, need to check her out in depth for the rest of what she's got.

I'm going to quote Dereck's post because he articulates the problems right now with Tekken 7 better than I could. The Lobby specific stuff in bold:

- Player Match Warm Up / Match List and Ranked Match Warm Up / Match List is a complete crap shoot. I've spent more time grinding the accept button and getting "could not connect" than actually grinding ranked.

- If I'm in a Match List for Player Match or Ranked Match, or if I'm searching for a Session, if I click on a player's session and I couldn't connect, the game resets the entire list again. Why can't it just keep the same list I already pulled up. So whenever I click on a person and I can't connect, and there were 20 people on that list, those other 19 that I could have tried right after vanish, and the game resets the entire list and pulls up different people from before.

- If someone in your Player Match lobby wants to invite someone that isn't on your friends list, that player can't invite them him/herself, you have to go into the online ID search function and invite the player manually.

- 2 man Player Match lobbies are an annoyance to play because there is not an instant rematch function. No stage select or character select function right after the match ends like in offline.

- Any Player Match lobby with over 2 people in it is not my cup of tea. Waiting inbetween matches was waiting too long to begin with, now I have to wait inbetween matches with Tekken 7's sluggish loading times added to it. 5 man Player Match lobbies are a nightmare, why even be involved.

- You can't leave a Player Match lobby if two players have ready-ed or are fighting. How much more time does Tekken 7 want to suck from it's players that isn't time actually playing the game online

- We can see the rank, connection and amount of wins of a player but we can't see their disconnect rate, a huge oversight.

- No online replays. The main squeeze of me listing this here is that I would like to see punishment and combo data. When I stream Player Matches, about half the stream is me waiting for the game to load the match. Uploading a 1 hour stream of Player Matches where 20 minutes of the stream is straight up just watching the game go back to the menu, having the players ready up, choosing a side, and then watching the long loading screen after picking a stage. With saving replays, all of that wait time is cut away.

- PC load times are faster online, but it kind of doesn't matter because of the lack of instant rematch.

Another question, I've used Hwoarang in Tekken games since Dark Resurrection, is he a good character or should I change now?

How good or bad a character is shouldn't matter unless you play Tekken for a living. What matters is, do you see yourself having fun investing time into this character? If the answer is yes for Hwoarang, go with him or whoever else that appeals to you. Hwoarang is relatively more complicated than a lot of the other cast members but as long as you enjoy putting in the time that shouldn't matter.

Katz is interesting you can play him intermediary. However his best is that high level execution, Ryan Hart is disgustingly good at the harder execution. He Make it look so simple. I might take up Kaz because it's about time I learn a technical, character. I Always played with the easy input characters lol.

Hey hey hey! Wait a minute we had 10-hit combos that felt like specials back I the day! :p I still remember my ghetto 10-hit combo here somewhere... :p

Man, the 3 round ranked fights are fucking up my mojo. Apparently I'm really easy to figure out, because 4 times in a row last night I went from 2-0 rounds to 2-3 and ended up losing the set. I need to mix up my strategies more.

Are there any good Yoshimitsu players to watch on YouTube to get some ideas of how I can mix up my game?

If you're not doing goofy ass props in customization, it actually kinda sucks. All of the custom clothes options look out of place and cheap as hell. I'm assuming they're doing this to sell actual good looking alt costumes later for extra $$$.

Change now. Not that Hwoarang is bad, but it's a chance to expand your repertoire. Becuase when you do go back and learn Hwaorang (OG Bob) it will just be clean up and small amount of new info, them you'll now know two characters! ;)

This one is entirely subjective. The rest I don't have an issue with. But there's a reason why 6 player KOTH type lobbies exist. Personal preference really. They just need to add a "1 on 1" private match feature like MKX and be done with it. Hopefully they're listening. They already responded with how they're gonna fix matchmaking based on player requests. Crossing fingers.

Korea - Eyemusician, Wujustyle
Japan - Kari, Shouchan
UK - Kaneandtrench (watch various UK finals and last years Globals)

I also main Yoshi (since Tekken 2) so if you have any specific questions hit me up.

I mean...poster says, "Not my cup of tea" first thing. :p

But I'd say the point is that the load times and large lobbies make things worse than other games because Tekken load times are long, especially on console.

I quoted both people because the first referenced the 2nd as if it's some kind of major issue for everyone. It's in the context. He bolded it. Otherwise I would have no issue. Like the rest of Dereck's comments are definitely on point across the board.

So how do get this Eliza DLC character?

I thought she came with the game - but I don't see her anywhere.

Eliza is a code I believe. I purchased my pre-order at GameStop, and the code for her is in the case that holds the disk. So I just have to put the code in... haven't yet to many characters to have fun with, explore and play.

Also did about :30 more minutes of the story mode, I love how they
put Akuma in the CANON of the story line so SICK!

Aris last night on stream was talking about a "tech roll", as far as getting up. How is that performed?

I know that if I'm already on the ground, I can press 1 or d+1 to roll around, but what he was showing was a quick getup that seemed invulnerable and he called it tech roll.

I suppose you're right, I shouldn't have bolded the 5 player lobby point.

Techroll is done by mashing 1 or 3 as you're about to hit the ground. Not all knockdowns however allow for tech rolls.

Mash left or right punch as you're hitting the ground and you'll roll to the left or right side. Gotta be quick on it.
Also, you can tech roll off King's giant swing too with mashing the same left or right punch. Strict timing.
As long as you don't hit the wall first.

No problem. It does illustrate a need for a 1 v 1 mode though for friendly deathmatches.

God, Claudio's animations are just lovely.

Also Quoting for a new page.

The problem isn't even only ranked match. Every mode is fucked up in someway. Ranked is just the worse offender.

Edit: actually player match for me is even worse than ranked. Can't do shit with that mode at all.
