TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

After lots of toying around, I've determined that this version of Nina is a beast. She has all of her mobility options and a huge amount of things that are deceptive lows or mids. Also, surprising somebody with a chain throw is still as satisfying as it was back in T3.

Having a pocket side character is a good idea too in tournaments, I've found. I used a pocket Devil Jin back in TTT2, but I'm leaning towards Akuma or Heihachi this time. I was a Hei player in 5, DR, and 6, so I'm familiar with Mishima work. He seems slower this go around, but he makes up for that in his power. He fits me better than Kaz or Devil Jin.

When the PC datamine thread shows the season pass outfits already being locked on the disc & shows files for a guest character to be released in winter 2017 and nothing about the characters you mentioned, you really should get the hint by now. ;)

harada said classic characters wouldn't be in the season pass so ha. They'd be free. -fingers crossed-

So, question for those who've beat the story.

Is Akuma actually meant to fucking beat you in the bonus chapter? Because I've gotten him to within one inch of his life left, but then he goes super saiyan and beats the shit out of me and it's frustrating the fuck out of me

You can totally beat him. You then unlock the 10 Star difficulty for Story Mode which makes him even harder. Fun!

Love how the default outfits are super cool and you can make awesome color edits, but people gravitate towards white tee, jeans, and a super soaker. Whatever floats your boat I guess!

Jesus fuck, how much shit does King have

I'm soooo lost, goddamn
King has a billion moves
You don't need to use them all
Only 2 of his grabs will take you really far being his giant swing and tombstone
He finally got a new good low. Use d+3 and full crouch df+1
After they start to watch and try to block these is when you bring out the hopkicks and full crouch df+2 launchers
He got decent punishment with 2,1 and b+1,2

My favourite custom for Katarina is just her Costume A with Ashen hair and a tan. Looks wonderful.

With matchmaking still not fixed, thinking about trading this in now. Shame gameplay is excellent, but the systems around it are terrible.
I would do this, but sadly i usually get my fighting games from psn because i know i will never sell them and i will play them for a very long time. :(

Is it just me or are the customization features very limited compared to Tekken Tag 2s?

not only is it very limited but also really ugly and out of place (even for Tekken standards). Except for the 2-3 char specific clothes.

Does this have a normal arcade story mode, that I can play through with each character and get a funny ending when I complete it?

Marvel

could never
Dragunov's default is great if you shade it all black and give him the little circular Morpheus shades and a pistol on the hip. That's my go-to.

Just one fight?

Is the Panda Bear and funny wood guy in Tekken these days?
Panda and Kuma are in and they are separate characters this time. Also there is arcade mode but some genius at bamco decided it would be better to put characters stories into some weird one fight thing instead of after beating arcade mode. Other than that there is the Mishima saga mode which is a long story mode kinda like NRS games.

How is this game if you don't wanna engage with the multiplayer? Is there enough to do?

I haven't played a fighting game since SFIV on 360, and I don't like the competitive stuff too much. I loved Tekken on the PS one though. And it appears to look gorgeous on PC.

There's an arcade mode that is generic for everyone. The funny endings are reserved for the character episodes which can be found in the Mishima Saga menu.

Yeah and I hate how everything is like whacky BS. I don't want to put a salmon on the back of my characters back and stuff like that. At least in the previous games you could try and make your characters to characters from all sort of media.

besides story mode, arcade and treasure mode, there actually isn't much to do offline unfortunately. If customization aren't your thing treasure mode is pretty useless.

As someone who bought the PS4 version, I can't engage with the multiplayer even though i do want to.

To be honest the single-player content is adequate but nothing more. There's a cheesy and poorly-written story mode that takes a 4 or so hours to play through and arcade and treasure battle modes. The former is what you'd expect, but shorter than usual and without character-specific endings. The latter is just an infinite string of AI battles where you defeat enemies for customisation items and fight money to spend on other customisation items.

There's also 1-battle character episodes to give anyone who isn't Heihachi, Kazuya or Akuma some purpose for being there, though they're pretty low-effort and unsubstantial.

Pretty lacking. Tekken 6 had the most robust customization, and specific pieces even had stat boosts for the dumb beat-em-up mode.

The color edit feature in Tekken 7 is severely underrated though

So is the online supposed to not work? I've been queued for a Player Match for the last 15 minutes and while it always finds an opponent it immediately greets me with "connection lost" after accepting it.

Keep fighting the good fight! I harass I mean tweet Harada every day about Zafina.

I'm scared she's gonna return as DLC as Jaycee if I harass him. LMAO. I'm watching the CGI tekken 7 pachingo slots and its Jaycee and King fighting giant robots and monster hunter monsters.

I think Harada prefers jaycee -crying-.

Yes, yes it is. In 21:9 ultrawide and in native 4K.

I'm reluctant to engage the multiplayer as well. I had to grit my teeth to play those online matches required to complete the PC's achievements and PS4's trophies. Can't mute them voice-chat.

The problem I'm still having is figuring out exactly what to do when I'm not trying to counterhit. For instance, I successfully block something, then backdash to get some space between us. Now what? Do I wait for him to whiff on something? Or should I be poking? I understand all of this is situational and there are no universal answers, but I think I'm just having difficulty with the 'in-between' times.

Like you said it's all situational, and I certainly don't have the best answers, but once I've created space I have a few moves in the back of my mind that are either really quick gap closers, have armor protection, or even a low poke that tend to catch people off guard when they are trying to close in or pressure me. It depends on how they react to the space I've made.

The moves don't always work but I have decent success at stopping an incoming rush. My main goal in those situations is to try and change it up consistently so they don't figure out a pattern. Though, I've definitely done that on purpose and then changed up a string to throw them off. My main goal is to force them to think before they charge in again, and once they hesitate, I apply pressure.

Hopefully that all makes sense.

I'll tweet Harada for JULIA over JayCee if you tweet him for ZAFINA for me. :)

Steve is proving very hard to use for me. Played Qis last night on his Eliza and managed to only beat him once out of like 20 times.

Since he has no threatening lows in his strings anyone can just hold back and block my pressure and then punish when I do something unsafe. And if they just play keep away the whole time I have to overextend to get back in range.

On top of that he has no good launchers. Fishing for CHs sounds good in practice but proves sort of difficult when your pressure is largely unsafe and non threatening. It works against less experienced players but good ones just block everything. Seems I have to have near perfect defense and block all lows in opponents strings to get any sort of damage off. And even then his punish potential on unsafe stuff is weak compared to others.

Any current or former Steve players have advice? I'm not gonna drop him but i have my work cut out for me to get good with him.

Josie's WS2,1 dash d3,4 is going to kill me.

Spent like an hour trying to do it last night, I got dizzy from how often I went in circles on the infinite stage. I only managed to land it like 1 in 50 tries...ugh.

Someone help :(
