TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

Tekken 7 must be have the most fun and balanced Rage / Super system ever created. They managed to make something powerful, easy to use and non abusable.

Now fix the garbage matchmaking and add the rematch option in player match. Do we have any official comment on the latter subject ?

Finally done with the main story.

Screw that last boss battle! Freakin' frustrating.

Was lucky enough to play through Normal, but that all changed when I reached the Special Chapter.

i was playing treasure matches with kazumi. she seems to have too much cheap shit that the AI can't read, i think you can go forever with her. the game must know so i got a ps4 bluescreen at battle 70something. gg. no progress lost though.

Alright guys help me out on if I would like Tekken. These are the fighting games I like and hate and why.

Like:

DOA4 - Counter system, good pace, solid combo lengths.

MVC3 - Hyper speed combat, distinct characters, great control of your style.

For Honor - Extremely tense, great character playstyles, fantastic animation.

Hate:

SFV - Small movesets, boring rushdowm options, too slow-paced.

MKX - Terrible PC port, terrible animations.

Injustice - Terrible animation, keepaway spam, poor rushdown design, too slow paced.

Do you guys think I would dig Tekken 7?

Absolutely loving the fighting. And the music and the look. It's excellent. But online is just so fucked on PS4.

Playing in a lobby with a couple of friends is the only option right now.

Also, Fuck the loading. Really hope for some optimisation patches asap.

Yes, especially if the PC port is important to you. It's one of the best fighting game ports in years.

Tekken sounds perfect for you. Amazing PC version. No projectile spamming keepaway. Faster than Injustice. Lots of different character styles. Closest to DoA out of those games.

It is. I have a 6700k/gtx 1080 setup so you think I would be fine but Mortal Kombat 10 absolutely ran like ass. Since then I am leery about ports.

Runs FABULOUSLY on my 1080. Tekken isn't a port either, it was built for PC (arcade cabinet is a PC) and ported to consoles.

That's reassuring. I do not mind projectile play, as I love MvC3, but it needs to be balanced by strong rushdown options. In MvC3 you could close in on Magneto or Dr. Doom with Spencer or Zero no problem. Plus you could swap to your own keepaway character due to the 3v3 format. When I played Injustice Deathstroke was laughably broken and I hear Deadshot is the same in 2.

Tourneys working pretty consistently now.
Shame about hosts dropping left and right when losing, subsequently imploding the lobby :(

Tekken is a systems game like KI. The cast all has a homogeneous toolkit, they all follow the same rules, and all have stuff that makes them different from each other.

Is Yoshimitsu still a well-meaning robin hood crazypants? I would likely exclusively play him as he is the only person I played during my brief time with the series in the past and I have a pretty strong connection to Maining the same characters across games.

Ok, I just listened to the OST in the jukebox, and there are only 5 songs I find great or good enough to let them stay in :

Arctic Snowfall
A grain of Sand
Metallic Experience
Duomo di Sirio
Attack on rhythm

Now the real work begins. I will have for sure a lot of TTT2 / T5 soundtrack, as it must be IMO the best and most consistent they did.

You'll love the number of moves and combos of Tekken 7 and distinct play styles. Matches can be over very quickly with a good rhythm, but takes a lot of learning.

When did you last play MKX? It runs great since last October's patch, I posted about it in the PC perf thread just a few days ago.

It was definitely before October. I hated the game play too though so I guess it's kind of irrelevant.

Is the PC community of this game healthy? I'm thinking about getting it on there because it's cheaper. Also does this game play well with a standard Xbone controller?

For now, the PC community is good! Not sure how it'll be in a few months but it's doing well so far.

It helps that PC online actually mostly works, unlike the PS4 version.

X1 controller should be fine. I haven't used it but can't see why it wouldn't work.

If you think SFV is slow paced i don't know what you will think about Tekken 7, going from SFV and Tekken 7 and vice versa the thing which i notice the most is the speed of characters. Tekken characters move like tanks.

So apparently Eliza was a preorder character on steam? Does this mean I'm out of luck if I wanted to to be able to use her?

One thing I do hate about modern Tekken still is how the entire game is linked to your profile.

This means letting company give the game a try affects your shit and I hate that. So my brother tried practice mode... =/. It didn't help sell the game.

Unless you can find someone with an Eliza code from the physical version, you'll need to wait 4 weeks until she goes on sale for everyone.

Woah! Akuma feels awesome to me as a SF player. Even though I don't play Akuma in SFV, lol. I'm not picking him up but I can see why it's recommended for us 2D people.

He is the only character which i can use to beat bottom Mashers so far lol, and i never liked Akuma even in SF games, so i guess i really need to practice playing other characters.

First character I picked upon buying the game, got some of his combos down now but I have moved on to learning Tekken characters now.

Lee being my absolute fave right now lol

How is the music? That was my favorite part of T6.

the music is really good, but if you don't like it you can actually listen to the full soundtrack from every tekken game made (only in ps4 version tho). You can even go as far as making a custom playlist of tracks from all the tekken games. Once you select your favorite tracks, they'll be set as the default music to the game.

Tekken is pretty fast paced and smooth so I think you will like it.

Holy shit the lobby system is so slow and annoying.

They really need to flesh out the online portion more. So many weird decisions. Had the one tourney I could get into drop because the host lost to me.

Like my dude take the L.

On the bright side the netcode was dope!

Does it show you how to parry in the moves list? My copy arrives today.

If you're new to the series don't worry about parrying too much to start with. You'll just eat a lot of hits. Focus on the fundamentals first. You won't see a lot of parries in online play at low levels.

But to parry, it's down forward to parry a low attack. Then some characters have specific ones, google.

For Honor is infinitely slower paced than SFV, with less options to be aggressive.

Anywho, you might like it, hard to say. Your likes / dislikes are pretty inconsistent across those games, it's not clear that you like one particular thing / type of game based on what you said here.

What you didn't say though, is that you seem to pretty persistently dislike 2D fighters, and usually enjoy 3D fighters - Tekken 7 obviously fits into the latter category, so I think you have a good chance of enjoying it. It has lots of moves per character.

Ok, thanks

I was down on the game's OST pre-release because it just sounded like a huge downgrade (and same-y) from other entries, but sitting in Training mode has really made me appreciate it a lot. It's actually really damn good (I also loved T6's OST. Midtown Roars, G ~ Blast ver.~, Only one Fight, and Karma being some of my favorite tracks).

My favorites from Tekken 7, if you're curious (I'll name them by stage name):

Jungle Outpost (at 35 seconds <3!)

Souq

Duomo di Sirio. Version 2 is also cool.

Mishima Dojo

The customization theme You're gonna spend a lot of time in there (I do, anyway), so having this playing helps pass the time with how catchy it is.
