I have an issue that I'm not sure is actually an issue, and it's vague enough that Googling hasn't led anywhere.
My LG TV is, on certain colors (shades of yellow/orange or light blue are easiest to see) is displaying alternate colors on every other horizontal line. It's like the TV can't display the exact color that it's being told to, so it's displaying slightly different shades of blue/yellow on each line.. light, dark, light, dark, and so on. It's a very subtle effect, as the two shades are very similar, but it's noticeable. When I see it in a game or movie, it gives the appearance like an old interlaced signal or something, but only on certain colors.
I tried taking a picture of it, but it looked perfectly normal in the photo, even though I can see it clearly with my eyes.
I first noticed it a few months ago, but I just moved into a new house, and the TV is a little closer to my viewing position, which is making it a lot more noticeable.
I've been through the TV's settings and can't find anything that would affect this. Everything is running at full RGB range.
The only thing that comes to mind is that it's an FPR passive 3D display, so every horizontal line has alternating polarization to view 3D images. But my eyeballs aren't polarized (I don't wear contacts or glasses), and it seems odd that a change in one of the FPR layers would affect the entire display and not just one section or one line.
The problem is that the TV is still perfectly serviceable otherwise, and I'm usually loathe to replace something that's not broken. And, if I were to go ahead and upgrade to 4K or whatever, I would need a new receiver. And, I just bought a house, so it's not a good idea to go spending a lot of money right now.
Any thoughts?
