without spoiling anything, is this a boss...instance...or what? so awesome.

What server are you on? Doesn't seem to be a lot of EU Tera players, so any gaffers I could play with would be great
Yeah I really enjoyed it as well. I had a glitch on the starter island though where I killed the last boss solo but it didn't register the kill. Had to go back in with a group to do it again.
No matter what I do, the injector isn't working when hitting pause/break
I copied the folder and contents to where they go with no luck
5850 w latest drivers
Nytollae on Velik.
Check official forums as I saw others with issue- Subscription not found or has expired
is what I'm getting when trying to log in. I purchased a digital copy online last night, couldn't log in. Submitted a ticket via their website but still no response from them. Is this still an ongoing issue? I downloaded the game during the open beta.
Anyone have the same problem?
so what's the point of helping people in this game? same quests with non-party players does not combine and go twards quest completion. this is a huge fail in my opinion.
i've had people literally standing still until i finished a mob off, and they would wait for it to respawn. in GW2 you can come in, help kill a mob, and it would go towards your quest completion.
i must say the animations in this game are awesome though
cool^
and does anybody know if the quests vary much from go kill x and bring back y?
i'm still on island of dawn but every quest has been the same save for repeatables.
it hasn't bored me yet since the killing is addictive, but just wondering if anyone else can shed some light
So did they actually take out the ability to see party members' quests or is it just hard to find now?
Man, the sheer size of the launcher download (24gb I hear? No way to tell from the launcher) makes me sad. It's been downloading all day with the speed steadily dropping throughout, P2P or not. Nothing quite as demoralizing as seeing the same "50m left" status for three hours because of steadily decreasing speeds.
E: Mmm. And now a "reliable source checksum error" message. Delicious.
I'm in the same boat you are. Just built a new PC for this game and am having all sorts of issues. Been downloading the past 2 days and still at %50. Not sure if my modem is going bad or what but my speeds are terrible 8(
That's dumb. Hopefully they'll put it back in :/took it out. i'm sad by it too.
DMPrince is going to cum buckets on his screen once he gets to the other side of the world :lol
Been eyeballing this game for a while. I'm not really a big MMO player. I played and loved Guild Wars and its expansions, played SWTOR and it was fun but I was not super impressed. It was also boring.
Not really a fan of JRPG stuff, but this looks really neat. Do you guys think I'd like this? How are the quests, varied or just the usual collect x amount, kill x amount, deliver x to y?
Kill x collect y (collection is automatic).Been eyeballing this game for a while. I'm not really a big MMO player. I played and loved Guild Wars and its expansions, played SWTOR and it was fun but I was not super impressed. It was also boring.

Mother of god...
Kill x collect y (collection is automatic).
No courier quests beyond sending you to the next zone or whatever.
One or two escorts in some 20 levels.
Questing is more or less post-Cata WoW, but without the interesting ones to break up the monotony.
Combat system is really good, though it doesn't really feel that way until level 20 (only takes like 10-12 hours to reach).
So after soloing basilisks last night for the first time with my archer (first fight was probably the most fun I've ever had combat-wise in an MMO) I got into a BoL run. Is that even a fair representation of group combat in the game at later levels? It was really disappointing. I feel like BAMs don't really work in a group environment, makes the combat completely static and mindless for everyone that's not a tank or healer.
I'm up to... four, I think, in the span of a few levels--level 16 right now. Most are optional, but it's sort of weirdly like they're just going apeshit with the escorts right now.Slow-ass Unicorn, Slow-Ass Fairy, Slow-Ass Peddler, Slow-Ass Knight Guy
Luckily they're optional and the combat is fun so it's not game-breaking, but they're leaning really heavily on the mechanic right now and none of the escorted seem in a particular rush to get where they're going.
What do you mean by static and mindless? You will be using certain rotations/chains throughout the life of your career in TERA; it's no different in a group setting, except that you will specialize your role and keep in mind those around you.
I think that BAMs are a perfect showcase of dynamic combat in groups, pretty much the exact opposite of what you said. I've been running through content with a Lancer, Sorceror, and Mystic (I am a Warrior). BAMs are the highlight of our journey. We run around, we kite, we die, we do stupid stuff, and we rock the face off BAMs as we learn their patterns and tells. I would describe it as the exact opposite of static and mindless. That's reserved for normal trash mobs.
Maybe it depends on the BAM, not sure. The big difference for me was that soloing one plays completely different than fighting one in a group setting. As an archer I have to save my backstep and the explosive ability/backstep at key times just to stay alive in the solo setup. In the group, I just adjust to get behind the BAM and nuke it at all times. There's no danger for me due to the range I stay at with no threat on me. I mean are there any BAM random aoe abilities or debuffs or specific events where anything special needs to happen? It just seems so straight forward, tank and spank at all times. That's boring.

Well, if you have a good tank and said tank is doing their job, then yeah, as a range class, you will be standing at a certain distance attacking. The tanks job is to keep the BAM/boss relatively stationary, so that will be your experience.
There are many BAMs/bosses that move around quite a bit, and have range attacks, leaps, and other special events such as clone spawning (we ran into that today with a boss).
As a side note, for Archers to do the maximum damage they can, you should be within 6m of the boss, since damage is scaled the farther you are, at certain thresholds. That's pretty damn close. So you shouldn't be sitting at 18m the entire fight. Well, you certainly can, but you can also certainly do better. I guarantee you that at 6m, you will definitely be moving around a bit more.
Edit: Another thing to note is that you don't HAVE to play with a tank in the party. The nice thing is that if everything knows their stuff, and knows the fight, you can get away with no tank (for the vast majority of BAMs and some bosses). A tank makes things easier, but you can always make things harder (but still doable) for yourself. If you really don't want some Lancer sitting there tanking all day, find a group without one.
Edit again: One last thing, then I really have to sleep. You might want to try other classes. The nature of some range classes is that they will be interacting less with most BAMs/bosses, because you have a little less to worry about when it comes to the melee attacks. If you really want something dynamic, try a Warrior or Slayer. They move around quite a bit, even in group settings.
I will start this tomorrow morning. Any tips for beginners?
