It almost looks like it's been sprinkled by blood hours before, and the blood has dried in, its coppery colour all too apparent. Obviously, it was the work of the henious Broccoliman.

Max, he does remind me of something too, but I can't put my finger on it. He looks like an enemy from an SNES game... Maybe terrisus could help us on that one.
 
Man, if terrisus doesn't know off the top of his head, it must not be an SNES game after all, guy's a walking SNESpedia.. :-/
 
I think it reminds me of something from Earthbound or Mother 3! I'm currently browsing through all the enemies sprite from those games to find out...
 
He vaguely reminds me of Pot of Greed from Yu-Gi-Oh. Other than that, I'm stumped.

... 9 minutes of solid attempting to remember what Broccoliman reminds me of. Hrgh. My head hurts.

tried roasted broccoli for the first time today, it was dope. used a bit too much lemon juice and i need a better quality parmesan for next time but i think i'll start making it regularly. lots of recipes suggested having it with rice!? rice and cheese is blasphemy...i just had it by itself.

edit: worth adding breadcrumbs? i just used garlic, salt, olive oil, lemon juice and parmesan (all put on after roasting with the exception of olive oil).
 
I used to hate broccoli, in part due to a traumatic experience with cream of broccoli soup when I was young (It was green. And bubbled. Soup should not be green and bubbly). But then I went to university, and wanting to fit in at mealtimes I took the vegetables I was given because I knew my diet was a bit screwy... and really liked it. It's now my favourite veggie, but yeah, I do see why it's very off-putting at first.

Sounds like it could truly inflict trauma. I can now see a reason as to why Terrisus doesn't like it.

Although yeah, it's something of an acquired taste.

Breadcrumbs does sound like a good idea. Although not too much. The broccoli is the centrepiece! Try perfecting roasted broccoli before you add it in, though.
 
do you eat it by itself or with something else? any suggestions?

I like it just as a side protein, or roasted alongside tomatoes over a pork chop or chicken breast, or on the side of a steak. I'm gluten and dairy free so I skip the Parm and breadcrumbs, IMO it doesn't really need either but I would esp. skip the breadcrumbs, I don't think they'd add much but that's just me.
 
okay, the first time i had roasted broccoli (see earlier post on this page) it was delicious. however, i made it last night and it was really sweet - so sweet that i couldn't even eat more than one or two florets. i used the exact same 'recipe' and cooking time so i'm not sure what could have happened?

Sweet, huh? That is odd. Maybe try it without the Parm?
 
Ah, damn, that roasted broccoli looks amazing!

Tonight was a quick one-pan broccoli dinner: halved cherry tomatoes, broccoli, and chicken sauteed together with some EVOO and lemon herb seasoning. Deglazed the pan with some lemon juice. So. Tasty!
 
There were some floret only packages of broccoli at Ralph's so I bought them and ate a lot of them today. One even had carrots in them also.

I think I'm gonna need ranch to dip in by the end of them. I think that's 2 pounds of broccoli. Kinda hard to eat all of it plain.
 
Tonight I'm having a burrito bowl from Boloco with steak and broccoli. Yum.
Have you ever had the New England Harvest bowl? I normally go the create-your-own route at Boloco, but that thing is amazing. You just need to add broccoli to the standard config to make it perfect.

I don't think they have that one here in Burlington. I'll have to keep an eye out for it. What's in it?

I think they rolled it out with the menu update at the start of the year. It's got kale, quinoa, squash, cranberries, beets, mushrooms and goat cheese with a bit of balsamic dressing. I'm turned on just thinking about it.

Whoa, sounds amazing. Just get rid of that fungus and we're good to go!!

I am generally not a big fan of mushrooms; in fact, too many of them in one meal has a tendency to gross me out. No joke, though, these are probably the best mushrooms I've ever had. They're also small and not creepy-looking.
