The "Regressive left" is primarily a pejorative term applied to a sub group within left leaning liberals who engage in apologism for Islamic conservatism and extremism.

Your previous post said, "The regressive left wants the same things what isis wants to destroy western civilization."

You literally said they want the same thing as ISIS.

lol why get your views from someone on quora?

Oh my god.

You're right, there are people on here who say things like "regressive leftists want to destroy Western civilisation with ISIS". How do you get through to that level of crazy?

Calling the left regressive is pretty bizarre, considering it was the right wing that invaded a middle eastern country under a lie, leading to a powder keg of regional instability we see today

man...I get what you're saying, but I just feel like we need to be more vigilant. And I don't agree that they will eventually stop. I think they'll get worse.

I see that too, but a looking through history, even the most everlasting things only existed all too fleetingly.

Also, why be so vigilant? People who are on their phone while driving kill more people a year than terrorism.

Sometimes inaction is the best action, and no magic solution exists. But demanding action, for the sake of it, that can definitely be worse than inaction - for what, the theatre of security?

Really though, action can be taken fortunately, the police services are massively underfunded and need support.

It's worth pointing out that I feel exactly what you feel. And I know where it comes from. But it so important to do the right thing, even if emotionally we want to do something else. We owe it to future generations.

Islamism definitely catches the favor of the poor and socially alienated... but it also attracts the rich, educated and socially well-adjusted.

We also have to recognize that the desire to return Islam to political ascendency over the world via force is a strong intellectual desire that can hook anyone, regardless of social and economic well being. Islamism is a very attractive ideology that you don't have to be "broken" to hook into, as twisted as it may seem to those of us on the outside.

I don't know about this. I think there's a truth to it. But recently on the radio there was a call in, and it feels like some of these younger folks are "groomed" in a very real sense. First they're offered protection from racists, and incorporated into gangs etc..

Felt like a typical gang racket (to me for the first time). And this was directly from a person who was in his own words "groomed" and not offered counter narratives until he spoke to an imam. Which then turned him around.

Trump promoting his travel ban during this?

Seriously?

Wasn't the last terrorist attack by a British citizen? What the hell would the travel ban do to stop home-grown terrorists who are citizens of non-travel ban countries?

He probably wants to ban Muslims from travelling regardless of where their journeys originate from.

I was in London just last week. My thoughts go out to those affected.

Why are you all wasting your breath on this poster? They're clearly not worth it.

Sky News keeps repeating footage of the same police van zipping past, and the same people walking on a sidewalk... if you didn't notice you might think that all the police cars in London are piling up into the same place.

edit - they stopped doing that finally, after a good 5-10 minutes...

I can't argue with that stat, because it is undeniable. I don't know, I just get so pissed off when I see this shit in the news. I see red, man. These people are just trying to go about their days, living life, and boom, it's all over.

Jesus man. How long ago was Manchester? Barely a week? I mean horrible things have been happening daily in countries all over the world but never this often and bad in countries like England, France, Germany and so on. For some reason my country The Netherlands is still being scared of these horrible things and naturally I hope it stays that way but what the hell man.

I don't follow the news a whole lot anymore and I really wonder what the reason is of all these attacks that have been happening a lot this year, last year and even 2015.

Alt-right dudes are desperately seeking the nazi equivalent on the left, so they run with nonsense:
The regressive left wants the same things what isis wants to destroy western civilization

People on this forum want to destroy western civilization?

So fucking what you asked a question i fucking give it you?
Calm yourself.

For you.
So fucking what you asked a question i fucking give it you?

You start complaining about the regressive left without knowing what the term means? After you fucking said that "they want the same thing as ISIS"?

You're not a very bright individual, and very clearly buy into other extremist's conspiracies from the extreme right. Good job kid.

I think the timing coincides with the rise of ISIS. A lot of extremist junk being posted online and people getting radicalized.

Have you never heard of ISIS and their jihad?

I don't see any end to these attacks. There's nothing stopping anyone from just swerving a vehicle into a load of pedestrians.

The peacetime is actually the abnormal part, the UK, London, are no stranger over the years to sustained attacks and terror, its just that we have been fortunate to have spells of years where things died down, but this is very much the way things go, sadly.

It's both shocking but completely unsurprising that ISIS has begun ramping up their attacks in the UK as their state in Raqqah begins to flounder, and the fighters return home to continue the mission, or are converted at home by its remaining operatives via social media and other online platforms.

I just heard a loud bang. But I am a mile away at least.

Police sirens going nuts.

Edit. Helicopters going away. Slightly relieved tbh.

If it was that simple then you'd have terrorist attacks from all poor people. There's a lot more to it than that, and there have been attacks carried by people who weren't poor. The radical religious aspect is a big part of it, and that is fueled by all sorts of issues, including cultural ones to sexual frustrations, ignorance and many more.

I don't disagree. But Muslim terrorists have a very specific profile, not entirely reducible to religion. If all Muslims wanted to commit acts of terror, there would be dozens of attacks like this every day.

What governments and Muslim leaders must do is ameliorate the factors which convince young Western Muslims that their only option is a suicide attack against non-Muslims.

Two weeks, and Westminster was two months before that.

It's not yet known what the particular level of association - if any - the attackers in this current case have with the likes of IS, but if they were actually directed by them (and not just 'inspired by'), then it might be because IS is still losing ground over in Iraq, with the Battle of Mosul going against them. They're getting desperate.

Edit:
Easy to judge from your seat, dude. A fluid situation in an already tense environment. Where are these mythical poised police you allude to?

Uh... what? I wasn't trying to judge, I was trying to sum up in the most minimal way possible. If you took my statement to mean I was suggesting the police as trigger happy, that's not what I was going for. Entirely understandable they'd respond with caution to any new vehicle entering the area.
