Terrorist attack in London [up: 6 people killed, ~50 injured, 3 attackers dead]

This is terrible! Regardless of motive or intent, this is despicable. Judging by the Sky and BBC footage, CoL emergency services are once again out in full force at a minutes' notice. I just hope those being treated by them pull through.

LBC is quite capable of reporting nonsense in the heat for the moment. However, they probably wouldn't knowingly tun a lie.

This is supposed to be a report from a witness, so not necessarily a lie from their side. Let's see if it's confirmed or not by others.

Is LBC a trusted source? All I know about them is that they host Farage's show which is not a positive argument in that direction.

They have a good reputation, been covering current events for over 30 years, a lot of presenters have a journalistic background but ultimately they rely on the public phoning in. It's a chat station.

Police tooled up with helmets and riot shields going into an area. Probably means they aren't looking for a gunman.

Hats off to the emergency services. Got there in 2 minutes according to BBC.
Sky had a guy claiming to be ex-military that said he heard shots for a few minutes before what happened on the bridge so if that's true, emergency services were already on alert or on the way.

It's always predominantly Muslim men, this common theme is going to lead to a lot of injustices being placed on the Muslim community as a whole at some point. There is a breaking point, I'm not sure where that point is, but I've no doubt that there will be a strong pushback to integrating Muslims into western culture. It's already helped dictate an American election

ISIS ultimate goal and the west might just fall for it.

I'm going to London next week and I'm worried. This is crazy.
Hope everyone is safe and no fatalities.

Given the nature of the crime, this could easily happen on any street in any location in the world. No need to deprive yourself from a trip to London over this, even with it's recent history with acts like this, London has always felt a lot safer to me than people give it credit for.

It's devastating to see these things happen so often in England. We are no longer safe in our country. How can our government and police allow for this to happen? How do we make it stop? It's awful.

Why would you be worried? You're more likely to get run over by a bus than by a terrorist. However I have never heard of anyone being scared of going anywhere because they might die in traffic.

I wouldn't pay it any heed until police says otherwise. Near incidents are often reported and turn out to be duds.

I do wonder how American media will do this time though. Britain was pretty pissed the last time

Edit: Ah, the police confirmed now. Good.

Pretty sure they lowered the threat level again a few days ago

Threat level is pretty irrelevant.
You can't stop a truck driving into pedestrians. The terrorist doesn't even need to plan it. Just get a truck and drive it into a crowd. There will always a place to drive into .. even with the highest threat level.
It can happen anywhere at any time.

I've no appetite for waiting for the pieces of this jigsaw to come trickling through via rumour and heresay so I'll try to get some sleep and see a fuller picture in the morning.

The odds of being caught in a terrorist incident - even when they're as "commonplace"as this - are very low. Please don't let events like this discourage you from experiencing one of the world's great cities.

Reporting is all over the place. Gunfire mentioned on some channels, knives involved in others, people stabbed in a restaurant on CNN. I reckon this was a gang - BBC now reporting an incident in borough market which is next to London bridge. So it sounds like people with knives in Borough Market and a van on London Bridge.

Wait isn't the other Ariana Grande concert either today or tomorrow? Ugh, please don't hit that too
Benefit concert tomorrow. Security at the event will be stellar but you can't control the areas surrounding it. Then again, these attacks take a fair bit of planning so I'm not expecting anything to happen. Hopefully.
