PATCH AND DLC1 NOTES FROM EDEN GAMES:

DLC1, also known as "The Exploration Pack" is almost out the door! This update includes some great features that the community has been asking for.
Got a Pink Mustang you'd like to sell? If so, you're in luck, because we're looking to buy. That's right - the next patch includes the ability to sell your reward cars!
How about getting your hands on a classy new ride, or a sleek, off-road beast? Two new cars have been added: The all-terrain Lancia Stratos "Rallye" and the classic 1969 Dodge Charger. Find all 20 new wreck locations in Ibiza and Oahu to unlock these cars!
For those who have been missing Roulette on the consoles, it's coming back! We've resolved the issue that needed to be resolved, and will be ready to start taking your bets again soon!
There's also a wealth of new missions. Twenty of them, but that's not all! Included with these new missions are two brand-new game modes: Extreme Convoy, and Timed Convoy.
As a reminder, this entire update is free! It's a way to say thanks to our loyal members who have shown their dedication and support for the Test Drive Unlimited series. The update should be available soon – keep an eye on our forums for the latest news from the development team!
And what about bikes? They're definitely coming in a separate update further down the road. If you're looking for a teaser, see if you can find the new bike shops on the map. First reviews are in!

Eurogamer - 7/10

"It's a long journey through this huge game and TDU2 offers an unrefined, bumpy ride. Thankfully, if it all gets too much, you can set the grind aside for a long journey of your own – just following your front wheels across the islands, revelling in one of the great videogame open worlds.

Unsteady but passionate and ambitious, TDU2 is fantastic escapism. It's just a shame it sometimes needs to escape from itself."

Gamer365 (Hungary) - 8/10

Pros:
- Ibiza and Oahu
- Huge content
- Dynamic weather, day/night cycle
- Off-road races
- Nice integration of online multiplayer

Contras:
- Dumb story and characters
- Minor framerate issues
- Where are the classical tunes?

It's also worth mentioning that this game has an MSRP of $49.99 USD/CAD for consoles and $39.99 USD/CAD for PC.

Smart move by Atari.

Some German and Austrian retailers started selling the console versions earier this week. I bought the 360 version last thursday and I'm having a blast with this game. Never played the first TDU so I can't do any comparisons.

Urgh, no.

One glance at a screen will tell you it's the TDU1 engine.

Sorry if I come off as a bit of an unappreciative ass, but some screenshots in the OP would be a good idea.

Some Australian stores have also started selling the game early. For the Sydney-siders, try FunLand in Bankstown, GAME in Westfields Parramatta-Burwood-Casula. That's the stores I know of selling so far. Will pick mine up soon.

Dungeon Crawl in Melbourne (Bourke St, IIRC) is selling it early too.

It's a great start. Undoubtedly there are holes which will be filled in with the inevitable DLC cars.

I expect DLC up the wazoo for this game.

The strange thing is - I am looking forward to adding to the car library, I so enjoyed the first one that I'll buy anything they put out immediately. That's how much fun I had with TDU1...

I haven't played a Test Drive game since one of them on PS1. I'm keeping an eye on this one. GT5 was so much more fun than I expected, I might want another racer after that one.

As far as I'm concerned, Test Drive was awful from TD4 to whatever game came out before TDU. But these guys have really revived the spirit of what the first 3 games were about (and what the first Need For Speed was about too)

Can't say to much about the game, but is gives me a good feeling. Love to ride around the island and walk around the dealership. Cars are to light, but a lovely game.

So that $10 day 1 DLC Casino Pack is packed in all new copies of the game, or no? I ordered on Amazon and it doesn't say anything about getting the Casino pack, but GameStop's site says you get it.

I got 100% on the last one and had fun every second of it, but this looks like a lesser release for some reason. I'll still get it though, so hopefully it's still fun and they add cars through DLC.

Because they're made for cruising. Har har.

Re: Car list - they've thrown in unbelievable number of 4 Japanese cars. Wooow one thousand cars, wooow. Plus there's Lotus Esprit, but no Elise?

Oh well, I think it'll be fun to drive around some RUFs, Audis, Fords and esprit.

OMFG HOLY MOTHER OF MARY IN HEAVEN I CANT BELIEVE IT WTF WHERE ARE MY SEDATIVES AAAAHHH
This game running at at LEAST 60fps on PC with sublime handling and FFB using a wheel, will make or break my purchase decision.

This offer makes me puke a little:

tdu2_widget2.jpg

Pre-order and buy the game from GAME UK for £40, and trade it in by 24th Feb and they'll give you £35 credit for it. Basically a 2 week rental for £5. :-/

But hey, atleast it has 5 Veyrons!

5 frigging Veyrons, like the original wasn't enough.

is there a list of music in the game yet?
I can only find a small list. There are two stations - rock and dance:

Deadmau5 (Ghosts 'n' Stuff)
Ellie Goulding (Under The Sheets)
Paul van Dyk (For An Angel)
Phoenix (1901)
Metric (Gold, Guns, Girls)
Passion Pit (Little Secrets)
The Temper Trap (Fader)
Neon Indian (Ephemeral Artery)
Dum Dum Girls (Bhang, Bhang - I'm A Burnout)
Danko Jones (Code of the Road)
Murder City Devils (Hey Sailor)
Surfer Blood (Floating Vibes)

If you trade it in to ebgames in Canada within a week after you pick up your preorder, they'll give you FULL credit for it. Does that make you puke a LOT? ;)

Hmm. Would be getting this at launch on 360, but my consoles got stolen last month. Plan on replacing the PS3 first; I wonder if I should get it for the trey instead or wait till I get another 360 :/

Loved the first one!

When I saw an alpha of TDU at Eden many moons ago I remember thinking 'Boy, and this is just one of the first new driving games of the generation!'

So now I'm a little bummed that five years later the only game to really pay any attention to what TDU accomplished is the sequel, but then again, now I'm driving badly around the coast of Ibiza as the sun comes out after the rain and Passion Pit is playing on the stereo.

Excited. I was on the beta and even though I had extremely limited time on it (the times it was playable were NOT great for Australians) I knew it was going to be worth it. Then my brother bought it for me on Steam :D

Any word on whether the PC is getting that casino thing or those cars? I know it's getting SecuROM :(

Shaneus

As a postscript to my last post, even though I've been given the game on PC I think I might dive in on 360 as well. It may not look as good but it strikes me as the sort of game I'd want to play from the couch on a bigger screen with 5.1 sound, not sitting at my desk.

All it says for the steam pre-order is the Pagani Zonda Tricolore and some clothing item.

Liked the first one. Looking forward to this.

Yeah it's got slightly janky graphics and somewhat wonky physics, but it's so fun and fresh compared with normal racing games.

I was about to come in here hyped as all fuck until I fucking saw a four machine SecurROM activation limit for the Steam version.

This might have been one of the only games I would've bought at full price this year...

Edit:
I was so excited about getting the chance to play this test drive comprehensively since I only played TD1 for a short time a while after it was released. The island was beautiful and I was convincing my cousin to pick this up as well.

shit

Even though it's a definite negative, I don't understand how such copy protection will actually stop people buying a game. What are the chances that you'd ever use up all four of those installs on four machines that are completely different from each other? I honestly can't remember the last time I even bothered reinstalling a game four times, let alone a SecuROM one.

I understand that it's mostly on principle, but would you really let something so irrelevant to a game as copy protection prevent you from playing a potential GOTY?

Very excited for this, put a LOT of hours in to TDU1 on PC when it came out. Played the beta too, love the races and online cruising is a blast.

It's not a matter of chance when it comes to activation limits. It's just a matter of time until you hit that machine limit thanks to OS upgrades, hard drive crashes and more powerful laptops/PC upgrades.

I've got hundreds of games to play on the PC and consoles combined so I can live with the loss for now. I hate that that the guys who put their talent into the game have to suffer for it, but I'm not going to let some company put me in a virtual vice grip for the software I want. It's not good business when trying to build a fan base for the publisher, developer and franchise.

I'd rather not shit up the thread anymore so I'll refrain from posting about this topic.
