Tested.com |OT| Lean Into It If It's Racist

There are extensions for firefox and chrome which adds an play in xbmc-button on youtube movies. It works directly on tested so this is a pretty good workaround while the xbmc plugin is broken.

It uses the network remote functionality so I can go the video on my laptop and then click to play it on my htpc.

I am sure this stuff is useful, but it is not for me. In Tested terms, this is like Android over iOS.

Android is okay, but I really don't want to dig deeper into things, in hope that I find a away to do something - I don't want multiple options. I just something to work out of the box.

Tested just got more difficult to use in the way I want, and was used to using it.

I am going to stop complain now, as the new site is good, and I am sure things will be good for Will and Norm in the future, it is just one little thing (big thing for me) that is causing annoyance.

Guys, I think I found the perfect solution. We get what we want and the new owners get a ton of traffic!

Where's the iPad tear down video?

Right next to the photos of Will and Norm in the header... ;)

Would have liked something like:
tested.jpg

Without thinking I'm entitled to anything:

Still think it's weird as Will and Norm build the community, and I totally understand that Adam and Jamie will expand that community because they are widely known, and they aren't shown.

It is the obvious way to expand the brand and site, but I don't understand why not both. I don't think the appeal of Adam's and Jamie's site will be lessened if it also displays Will and Norm. Especially if they provide the majority of content.

As a viewer this feels more like a takeover than a merger...

That's fair enough. It really isn't something time consuming or difficult to do though, and it'll naturally improve your experience given that it skips the 3-steps-to-download routine. It just requires you to click install for an extension on the official Chrome "store". It's closer to downloading an app for iOS to add functionality to your iPhone than rooting Android.

Odd. Logged in fine the first day. Keeping getting 404s when I tried logging in again all day today. Hope it fixes itself soon.

If futurist is now Tested approved, I'm sure gadget is as well! It's a new day, embrace the Resolution!
It's not the best term, but it's fitting in the context, since the article focuses on pointing out the present day influences on Gibson's future settings.

Just noticed that you can 'only' contact will and norm.

New tested definitely has identity crisis, which hopefully get's sorted out later. It does seem that right now, Mythbuster fans will hop in and be confused with who w&m are while old tested fans will be furious about the banner and icon.

Tested used to be the only tech site that I visited, but I don't see myself reading it very often now with the recent changes.

Mythbusters is an interesting TV show, but I don't care at all about Jamie & Adam's thoughts/opinions.

New users will gravitate to the mass appeal (and innate sexiness) of Adam and Jamie, and will learn to love Will and Norm in the long run.

New users will wonder who the fuck will and norm are. It's a little impolite to just assume existing fans will be fine with this - we watch/listen for will and norm. Adam and Jamie are welcome additions, it just feels a little blunt the way it's presented.

I can't link it right now but Will's post on the tested forum clears a lot of this up. Sounds like the podcast will continue and we might get some really cool videos so I'm happy.

The fact that the myth busters guys were fans of what they do calms a lot of fears of them being sidelined.

I agree, the Mythbusters seem like would integrate well (when they have the time), although after digging around the Internet, BermanBraun (Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun) seem like they will be a bit more pushy than Whiskey used to be. Bing searchbars, sponsored content, strong adverting, and MSN integration seem like trademarks of their other sites, which is bad.

Hopefully Tested will be seen as seprate entity, and we wont be visiting tested.msn.com in the future.

The only change that has bummed me out so far (it shakes too)...

Totally understand why Tested had to change, and I look forward to the new stuff, but that shit just drives readers away.

Just feels way to stark. It feels like it has a lot less personality now. Also black and yellow are hideous together and always will be.

There's also the fact that half the website doesn't work, and there's no categories for videos anymore.

It all feels very unfinished and rushed to coincide with the Giantbomb announcement.

So I'm listening to the latest podcast, and they're on the topic of the encyclopedia:

The most important reason to keep print versions of books is to protect them from censorship.

If all books exist purely in electronic form, particularly a form that "streams" from somewhere, it is trivially easy for it to be changed, with or without people taking notice.

The Ministry of Truth will find electronic books a very useful tool.

So their terms of service says.

You may not post content that:

may be deemed generally offensive to the site community, including blatant expressions of bigotry, prejudice, racism, hatred or profanity;

I can think of a couple dozen thinks off the top of my head that they have said on the podcast that may be deemed generally offensive, and there's no lack of profanity.

Just looked, and Giant Bomb has it too, which means it was the general Whiskey MEdia TOS... which should not affect content posted.

I think the community is fairly tolerate so there should be no problems

I agree, I wouldn't change anything about the content the last few years.

I might change one. I would have liked if they went for the MAME Cabinet for the last Whiskey thing instead of LEGO - especially seeing as they might not get to go back to that under the new boss.

Although I bought three LEGO sets in the past month, so it is not like I did not enjoy Bricked.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
Regarding Norm's Star Wars posters... I hate seeing things I want dearly but will never be able to afford :(

Just wanted to say that I'm very happy for Will, Norm and everyone else involved. I visit Tested because of them; as long as the new content retains their personalities to the same extent as the old Tested I'm totally fine. In fact, I'm very excited to see what new and crazy things they'll be able to do now.

Just don't forget to keep it real – always be testing!
