I don't see your mix in the "place". I see the folder, but nothing in it. Wassup!?

I'll upload my mix again tomorrow, didn't realise that it had gotten lost when agentdormer changed servers!

Bune Duggy's first disc:

1. Insanity - Oingo Boingo: I liked this song, I like all the percussion parts in the beginning, and the Dan Quail line.

2. Swing This - Apex Theory: I liked this song as well, I haven't heard much from them, but I like the bouncing guitar line during the verses.

3. The Current - Blue Man Group: This is the first time I have heard a vocal track from these guys...well, actually its probably the first time I have heard a full song from them. Damn Pentium commercials. I have heard about how innovative and inventive these guys are, but I don't really hear it in this song. It's not bad, just not what I expected from the little bits and pieces I have heard of BMG, and people talking about them. I assume a large part of the inventiveness comes from thier actual live preformances though.

4. Should I Stay or Should I Go - The Clash: Classic song. It drives me nuts whenever I hear the beginning to it in that car commercial, its a damn tease.

5. Methamphetamines Blues - Mark Lanegan Band: This song was alright, the "ahh-ahh" part in the background reminds me of some other song. The song felt kind of flat throughout though, and I didn't really like the vocal only ending. Seemed like it unnecessarily dragged out the end of the song.

6. We Prick You - David Bowie: Love this song, I need to get more Bowie stuff.

7. She Has a Girlfriend Now - Reel Big Fish: Never really got into the whole ska thing, and this song doesn't do anything to change me mind.

8. Leave Melody COunting Fear - Serart: I don't like this guys voice. But the guitar picking is pretty nice.

9. Peel - Seven Mary Three; The very beginning of this song reminds me of the Animals - House of the Rising Sun. Kinda wish the rest of the song actually was House....

10. Mahna Mahna - Cake: I ussually don't care much for Cake, but I like this song. Maybe cause its pretty much devoid of lyrics?

11. Super Bon Bon - Soul Coughing: This song is pretty damn cool.

12. Possum Kingdom - The Toadies: I remember hearing this song a lot on the radio years ago or something, but never knew what it was called or who sung it. Now I know, neat.

13. Army of Me - Helmet: Its alright I guess. The guitars in the background sound stuffed and muted or something.

14. Psycho Killer - Talking Heads: Good song, I need to pick up some Tlaking Head albums.

15. Why Does the Sun Shine? - They Might Be Giants: The more you know....

16. The Freshman - The Verve Pipe: Its a nice song.

17. Stream - Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds: Damn, I liked this song, and ussually I hate Dave Matthews.

18. Rainbow Connection - The Muppets: Haha, fun song to include. Yeah Kermit.

19. Can't Kill the Revolution - Tool and Rage Against the Machine: Its something. Seems pretty rushed and repetitive and overblown or something. I don't know....I don't listen to either bands that much so I couldn't tell you who from which band is cntributing what to the song (other than Zak's vocals, and I guess Maynard's vocals were in there too).

Overall: Its was a good mix, some new songs for me, and a lot of stuff I don't normally listen to, but its good.

Next up should be Yoshifumi's electronica disc, and then Bune Duggy's second disc.

***** = wicked
* = poo

Let’s get started.

Shitmat – Theme from the 1988 Morris Dancer Massacre
A strange one to start off the mix with, no doubt. Imagine Mr. Bungle being repeatedly sodomized by the good folks at Kraftwerk in the middle of New York’s Central Park, while horrified matrons scream and homeless grin...all set to an insanely fast beat. It’s a testament to this track’s durability that it only took 8 or 9 listens for me not to *completely* loathe it anymore. *½

Vivian Jackson and the Sons of Jah – Jah Vengeance
Now THIS is more like it. The first four bars took me back to one of my earliest memories….age 3, visiting Jamaica and playing walkie-talkies with my cousins. A serious departure from the previous track, and for the better. Thanks man, this song alone made the mix worthwhile. Classic ragga stylee. *****

Sugar Minott – Jah Jah Children
I don’t want it to seem that I’m biased towards reggae music….but I am. Sugar’s delivery isn’t nearly as smooth as Ms Jackson’s, but the lyrics make up for it. Follow God’s Word, for we are all Jah’s children…..even you godless heathens sitting in the back, flicking spitballs. ***

Selah Collins – Pick A Sound
This is an instrumental reggae track, a little too fast to smoke a J by, but whatever. ***

Nakaido Reichi – Island in Video Cassett
Starts off like an 80’s Art of Noise instrumental dance track, but just as I thought it was gonna explode in a crescendo of noise and filth, it didn’t. Instead, I was lulled by the soothing sounds of lapping waves and an oddly comforting drum track. ***½

Pointer Sisters – Automatic (White Label House)
Did we need a remix of an already classic 80’s song? I’m not sure. I do know, however, that my buddy’s 3 year old daughter was jumping all around the living room when I put this on. That’s good enough for me. **½

Antibalas – Whos Is This America Dem Speak Of Today
12 minutes of an amped-up salsa beat, chanting, and a guy with a serious accent giving America the business over its politics. I may have found a replacement for “Bucthumping” in my Winamp heavy rotation. ***

Koola Lobitos – Oloufe Mi
This song would fit in perfectly in Vice City’s “Radio Espantoso”. Which just happens to be my favourite station in the entire Grand Theft Auto series. *****

Joe Bataan – Riot
“Everybody’s doing it! That’s right! It’s a good, good feeling!” Not what I expected with a title like Riot – more like a 50’s dance track. In my head, I see black and white folks dancing in a smoky underground club, drinking liquor of dubious origin and jitterbugging the night away. ***½

Tito Puente – Take Five
A great take on an already awesome tune. RIP Tito. ****

The Bad Plus – Velouria
Dunno about the switch midway from classical piano to a more free-form approach. I’ve listened to this song several times and I still can’t decide whether I like it or not. Let me get back to you.

Vince Guaraldi Trio – Moon River
Wow. What a beautiful song. I dare anyone to listen to this contemplative piece without smiling non-stop. ***** :) :) :) :) :)

All in all, this is a pretty good mix. A couple of songs don’t fit, but that’s the risk you run. Thanks fnord. Litigationmanuel, I’ll write yours up over the next week.
