You cried because you didn't like a movie? Also Gosling isn't a front runner for best actor has like 0 chance of winning, Stone is because it's kind of a "weaker" year for that category, which is to say her movie is the only one that is nominated for best picture which helps a lot.
Yah I did, problem? Not in an upset way, but I was bored, annoyed, and also laughing. It was surreal to me, too. The movie is absolute drivel and I just didn't understand why it was so highly praised.

I liked the jazz portions, though.

I think we all can agree that the Academy dropped the ball in the Hair/Makeup category.

No, not Suicide Squad.

Nocturnal Animals, La La Land and Hail, Caesar! deserved noms.

Nah. The only film relevant in a hair category this year is Toni Erdmann.

I'm really happy Silent Nights is nominated for short film for my country. Too bad I came home too late to catch half of the film.

I can relate so much to this one wow.

What a fucking great year for film. Hell or High Water is my Dark Horse of the night though. If I want a movie to win besides Manchester it's HHW. Love, love, love La La Land though. Original Screenplay is so tough. Hope Arrival wins best editing, and Casey Affleck NEEDS to win best actor. There's no way he doesn't...right? Also, Naomie Harris should win supporting and Viola Davis should be in Lead Actress position.

Also, where's the love for Sing Street? Most underrated movie of the year alongside Swiss Army Man. If Arrival doesn't win Editing..

I'm just happy the easily predictable winner is a movie my wife and I both really liked.
I am on this couch every year watching this shit and she usually checks out in the first hour. Having a horse in the race might get her to the end.

These kind of Oscars are way more fun to watch then when garbage like The Kings Speech are the front runners.

Probably the same as a lot of other people on this board, since I went with the favoured winners in almost every case. I won't get to pull an "I told you so!" on any upsets, but I think I have a shot at getting 20/24.

I have La La Land down for 9 awards. A huge night, but not a record number of wins. It could end up getting Original Screenplay and sound editing though.

Do you guys remember when the Onion tweeted that joke about the lead from Beasts of the Southern Wild

I thought it was funny then and still do. Pretty great bit of satire on how people infer ridiculous, awful things about people from the way they act on the red carpet, especially in regards to women.

Alright here are my guesses:

Picture: La La Land (My pick: Lion)
Lead Actor: Denzel
Lead Actress: Emma Stone
Supporting Actor: Dev Patel
Supporting Actress: Viola Davis (My pick: Nicole Kidman)
Animated Film: Zootopia (Kinda want Moana b/c Ron and John deserve one)
Cinematography: La La Land
Costume Design: La La Land
Directing: La La Land
Feature Documentary: O.J.: Made in America
Short Subject Doc: Joe's Violin
Editing: La La Land
Foreign Language Film: Tanna
Make Up: Star Trek Beyond
Original Score: La La Land
Original Song: How Far I'll Go (Audition and City of Stars gonna split the La La Land Vote)
Production Design: La La Land (though Hail, Caesar! was cool too)
Animated Short Film: Piper
Live Action Short Film: Timecode
Sound Editing: La La Land
Sound Mixing: La La Land
Visual Effects: The Jungle Book (My pick: Kubo)
Adapted Sreenplay: Lion
Original Screenplay: La La Land

Would like to see Arrival, Manchester By the Sea and Hell or High Water win stuff. Maybe even Hacksaw Ridge.

Lala land and moonlight bored the fuck out of me.

La La Land is such an obvious favorite this year that anything else picking up the big prizes with a couple exceptions is a big surprise. Personally hoping Portman would get her second Oscar but I highly doubt it. Still a bit surprised that Amy Adams didn't get nominated for Arrival.

I think the most open category is still the best actor, I'd say it's quite even between Affleck and Washington.

My weaker points for La La Land are acting and story, and I'm afraid those are the two things that are most important to me for a best picture winner.

The musical numbers are fantastic, and the film looks jaw-dropping.

What the hell happened to Ginnefer Goodwin. She looked PISSED on the red carpet, or at least upset at something.

I probably spelled her name wrong as well.

I agree that La La Land could be deemed to be relatively weak plot-wise, but I respectfully disagree re the acting - Emma Stone's performance was mesmerising, every bit the old-school Hollywood leading lady, owning each of her scenes. I'd almost give her my vote for the Paris audition scene alone.

I'm really surprised they excluded Mary and Silence completely besides the cinematography.

Paramount sent out screeners for Silence very late, some of which can be attributed to the fact that Scorsese wasn't finished editing the film, and was less interested in winning Oscars, then he was in getting his film done right.
