"The Ass Nintendo Doesn't Want You To See" (Kotaku)

I feel like I am an FE vet, Ive played through all of the NA games, FE6 and FE4 as well. I'd appreciate the DLC characters if they werent completely redesigned to barely resemble their original forms, if they were actually characters that had supports, the hero cameos if they too werent just reusing generic models or had generic conversations that alluded to one 2 dimensional trait of theirs, and the map design if it wasnt so plain and exactly like every other map in the game objective wise.

What youre getting is completely over priced, but I guess I am part of the problem since I bought all of it.

I don't disagree about the DLC characters, but to be honest, I feel like the maps themselves are really nice and the non-character bonuses that they offer really make them worth it. I definitely understand why one would consider something like LB1 at the bottom of the barrel, though.

For once, this is appropriate.

Guess this explains why Max Factory is making that new Tharja figure. (Note: Yes, I wrote the article for my site, but it's relevant to the topic.) The one where she's bending halfway over a stack of books with her butt in the air.

Yeah, that's never getting an official release here.

USA one looks even more provocative... looks like she's mooning him, haha.

Either way, weird images for Fire Emblem

That's what imports are for.

enough. no more kotaku-related threads for me. they're like the covers of those check-out line magazines - i regret it every time i notice one :) ...

I guess my response would be that I'm supporting the DLC in hopes that it gets better next game (or perhaps even a third series in this one, doubtful though that may be), as I alluded to originally.

Re-using Avatar faces is criminal, as is not giving the DLC characters some special skin or color theme to help them stand out due to not having supports or any conversations.

But for a first outing for the series, I don't know if I think it's quite on the level of overpriced, as, say, horse armor.

But if it doesn't get better in the future re: re-use of sprites, map variety, etc..I completely agree with you.

edit: Also think they should have had each chapter have some tangible reward besides the 'character' to help 'defend' the price, as it were. If someone didn't have the foresight to check Serenes or somewhere else, them getting certain maps individually would be a shame.

Another masterpiece article by Luke Plunkett anime pantyshot specialist from the site that called Kamitani a "14-year old".

Googling leads me to this

Oh man, I have to find out how to unlock this dialogue XD
◾Nowi: Tharja, you're so boingy!
◾Tharja: ...What?
◾Nowi: Didn't you hear me? I said you're boingy!
◾Tharja: And what does that mean, exactly? ...Do I even want to hear this?
◾Nowi: You know! Your figure! Like, your hips and your...other parts! Boingy!
◾Tharja: Gods. Where do you learn such things? One moment I'm dealing with a simpering innocent, and the next... *sigh*
◾Nowi: Sooo...can I see 'em? Your boingy bits, I mean...
◾Tharja: Why are you even asking ME, anyway? There must be others with more *ahm* "boingy" bits than me.
◾Nowi: Oh, no. I've checked out EVERYBODY in the whooole army, and you know what? You're the boingiest of them all. ...Trust me.
◾Tharja: What an honor. Perhaps you should check again to be safe? Now go on. Run along.
◾Nowi: FINE! If you're gonna be like that, I will! CHROM! HEY, CHROM! Tharja said I should ask you about her boingy—
◾Tharja: WHAT?! Grr... Pipe down, or I'll hex you into next week!
◾Nowi: But you just TOLD me to—
◾Tharja: I changed my mind. No more asking anyone about boingy bits, you hear?
◾Nowi: Boo. Will you at least tell me what your boingy bits feel like? Are they soft?
◾Tharja: What is this all about? Why do you want to know?
◾Nowi: Well, I heard some of the men talking about your figure... And they said they bet your boingy bits are white as snow and soft as pillows. That sounds pretty nice to me! So I decided I had to see for myself.
◾Tharja: Grrr... When I find out who these men are who've been talking about me... Well, let's just say there are about to be some new toads hopping around camp...

The censorship is 1. hilarious and 2. kind of just makes things worse, since it looks like she's wearing nothing.

Fire Emblem also seems like a rather odd choice to reign in sexual overtones, considering it's one of the very few games that doles out its cheesecake pretty evenly. Doesn't this mission feature goofy/sexy art for your husband, too, if you rolled a female MC?

I aint even mad, just kinda bummed to see another cool japanese IP resorting to this kind of pandering

whatevs, wont buy

Call me crazy, but I feel like Nintendo really went out of their way to make Awakening particularly fan-servicey:

No More Heroes artist, whose female character designs are extremely sexy? Check.
Marriage and dating sim elements? Check.
Somewhat pervy support conversations? Check.
Beach DLC? Check.
Hot springs DLC? Check.

It's like a cruise missile locked onto the otaku population.

Yes you can see Chrom ass with no censroing.

That's some sexual discrimination right there!!

I read in the comments about this on Go Nintendo that the original Japanese version referenced the hair, just like the European version does and the "boingy bits" was purely a U.S. thing.

Can anyone confirm this? It would be interesting if the European version was actually more true to the original.

UPDATE: I was wrong. EU version is censored.

That's false. The American text is supposed to be the same as the original Japanese, it's the Euro version that changes it to hair.

Its the best selling game in the series in a long time and still a really good game so it seems to have been the right choice.

I dont disagree, its certainly a bit more out there but not enough to be considered like that IMO, it just wasnt bothersome, plus at least the marriage thing for example is tied to an interesting gameplay feature, kind of a big jump from that to "everyone's on a bikini, fuck it"
