Does anyone have any thoughts on the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport? I'm looking for a crossover, and it's pretty much this or a used Toyota Rav4. My family hasn't really dealt with Mitsubishis, so I don't know what I would be getting into.

From what I've read and heard first-hand, the new Outlander Sport is a competitive entry in the CUV market. Great fuel efficiency with the CVT, handles and hauls a decent amount.
That said, I'd seriously suggest you also check out the Kia Sportage especially the SX turbo model. I've driven that one and it is beastly all-round. I don't think it can be beaten for the price.

Mazda CX7. I have one. I love it.

Also, the new Subaru Outback is huge. Basically a crossover now and absolutely great interior.

I'd love to get a CX7, but aren't they a bit pricey? Not that great mileage either.

What do you want out of it(performance, mileage, "fun", toys)?
Sedans, especially, sport sedans run a huge gamut.
something thats sporty and looks nice, mileage would be nice but these are 300hp cars so mileage ain't gonna be great on any of them. AWD would be good for the winter so I 'm thinking the is350 ain't that great of a choice.

I like the Mitsubishi, if not that check the Tuscon.

Well, there's a reason the BMW 3-series is the measuring stick. 335ix would be a great match.
After that I'd suggest the Acura TL since pre-refresh models should be a steal right now and you could use AWD.
If you have the money, the current S4 and previous RS4 would be better than both the aforementioned.

If it were me, i'd avoid the CX7 like the plague. My sister and her husband have one and its been nothing but trouble. Its a 2008 and they've already had the A/C die, the transmission needing major work, several electrical failures, and either the fuel or water pump go out.

haha, i was about to say "G37x sedan" but then I went back and saw that you already have a G coupe.

I wish I could I get an S4, that thing is sick. But the Acura is something I'l look in to, only because the ron jon grille makes it look cool.

Yeah, that's the 4G TL right there. People don't like it because of the "beak" but I think it's fucking hot. And yes, the Ron Jon grill does make it hotter.

Right now, I rockin the 3G TL. Gonna get my A-SPEC bodykit installed either this week or next. Can't wait!!!!

TLs are awesome. You get the most bang for your buck with them.

Wait, wasn't Adam Carolla suppose to be on the original Top Gear America?

Either way I'll watch it because he's in it.
Adam Corolla was in the NBC pilot, but dropped out due to other commitments.

Oh me oh my, I just bought this crossover 2 weeks ago. I hope you did your research because this is definitely not for everyone. It's basically a jacked up lancer, which is exactly why I bought it. It's a CVT, which takes getting used to as the engine makes the most noise going from 0 to 20. From 20 to 90 mph it isn't noticeable.

The CX-7 is easy to buy, check truecar.com to get an idea of how big a chunk you can take off the sticker price in your area. You can probably get $2,500 off easy from a CX7. The Nissan Rogue is its other primary competitor and probably the closest to it in size and utility (also has a CVT, and I think both are JATCO branded). Nissans are the easiest cars to buy as they have a ton of incentives. You can easily get $3,000 off sticker on a Rogue with only a few emails. I was heavily cross-shopping these 3 options before buying the Sport because of its looks and modern features. I got it down to $1,300 lower than the supposed invoice price. All paid-for car buying services I looked into only guaranteed going $500 below invoice so I think my haggling skills leveled up.

The Sportage looks great but the rear looks terrible for me and the visibility is sucky. Ride is harsh too. It also performed poorly in my standard "jackhammer-smash on the dash" test where I pound all the plastic parts in a car with my fist to see if they shake or creak. The Mitsu, Nissan, and CRV are ace in this test.

Note that if you're shopping the current model year RAV4, you're technically in a different category. In that slightly larger size and price range you should be cross shopping the RAV4 with the CRV, Equinox/Terrain, and Sorento (purely because you can get these for CHEAP).

Strangely enough, my family is one of the mythical Mitsubishi families. When we were hard up for cash we sold our Honda and Ford (mostly because of the better resale) and kept our old Mitsus. We still have a '91 Mitsubishi L300 van and my lowered '95 L200 pickup running great after all these years. The only items that needed changing over the years were belts and airconditioning compressors. PM me if you have detailed questions or we can talk about it on the thread.

So my boss is a car fanatic, and apparently used to own a british ''super'' car. It's not a noble or a Mclaren F1. The car was still produced in 2005 apparently, and is the ultimate mechanic's dream. Any guesses? I don't think he's lying to me at all by the way.

This game is torturing me...

P.S. He's getting a R8 later this year, and he's cool enough to consider me for an eventual drive. :p

One of the TVR's? thats the first thing off the top of my head, I'd doubt he'd consider a Morgen a 'super' car.

Anyone like to see Cadillac get off the various CTS and get back to Coupe DeVille, Seville, Eldorado? More varieties, less un-useable fake muscle and back to power luxury?

Absolutely. I used to drive a 1986 Fleetwood Brougham. I would love to see Cadillac come out with a true full size flagship sedan again. Preferably with a real name, not CTS, DTS, XTS, or whatever.

With that said, I saw a CTS-V Wagon today, and I want one... badly.

Sounds like we may have a winner. I'll stop polluting the thread now, but I'll let you know if that was the right answer. Thanks.

Was probably the S4, to be precise. Otherwise the term "supercar" is a touch exaggerated.

Thoughts on new M5? I think it doesn't look half-bad, minus a few here and there asymmetry issues.

Looks better than the last one. Not that that's saying much. They all seem so "fat" since the E39.
I'm sure it'll run like a scalded dog though. the 4.4TT is a great engine and I never doubt BMW's handling engineers.

Should be a great car as usual. Competition is strong too, XF-R refresh and S6/RS6 should be beasts as well and the current E63 is no slouch.

Don't like the new M5. Simply does not differentiate itself from a standard 5-series the same way the E60 M5 did. It lacks pizazz. And I actually like the look of the current F10 5-series over the E60...yet prefer the E60 M5 over this.

There's a black e60 535i and a black e60 M5 in the parking lot at work every day and I don't really see much difference between them. It took me a couple days to even notice that one was an M5, and I am a 10+ year BMW fan and current e39 owner.

The people I work with had NO idea that it wasn't a regular sedan, which I think is half the point of an m5. They were like "THAT car has 500 hp and cost almost $100,000??"

The F10 M5 continues that tradition except it doesn't look like ass. If you want pizazz, buy the new M5 then give it a two tone paint job and a body kit.

I'm thinking about consolidating. I have a B5.5 Volkswagen Passat and an E34 M5. I rarely drive the M5, maybe 1-2 times every other week or sometimes on the weekends when the weather is nice. Both cars are in very excellent shape. My ultimate car would be a 993 Carerra 4S. Turbos would be too expensive. Honestly I don't think I'd be able to find the perfect one I want. An Audi S5 would be awesome, but way out of my range. As is a BMW e92 335 Diesel.

What else to consider on a $30-35k budget?
must haves:
MANUAL
RWD or AWD
coupe or sedan

The general person won't. The enthusiast can easily tell them apart.

Automotive crying thread: I just hit a dog with my S2000. Dog is OK, my bumper is not. It cracked the bumper and now I've got to get a new one. AP2 or Amuse bumper, here I come.

not really what I'm looking for. It doesn't have to be new either.
Those would seem like a huge downgrade coming from an E34 M5.
Cayman S is depreciating like crazy, maybe even a 996 Carerra. I kind of toyed the idea with an Evo also...

Crying about the car, right? AP2 bumpers look sweeeeeet.

While it's my first time in here... I'd like to ask what do you guys think of the Renault Clio 182? I don't even know if its seen America before.

If the dog was hurt, I'd be crying about that. But yeah, crying about the bumper.

How does the rest of your S2000 look? The Amuse look is a bit too much in my opinion. The AP2 feels more refined, but then again it is OEM.

I personally would go for the AP2. How much would they cost?

Does not compute.

I guess you need to add more of the subjective things you want, because I'm out of great ideas from just the objective things. If you want a Porsche, nothing less is going to tickle you, buy a well-cared-for 996 C2 and have fun.

I can get an AP2 bumper from my friend for $80. Then I'll just need to spend $150-200 repainting it. Amuse bumpers go for $1300-1500, the replicas go for $300-400. That's unpainted.

Ok, you've inspired me to finally post pics of my car. I just took these a little while ago.
